He basically said Mosley is a great pick. Smart linebacker, excellent leader that will get everyone lined up and listen to him, very instinctive, reads and then reacts. Can take the defense to the next level.

I remember being disappointed when Mosley announced he would return for his senior season. I'm very happy he made it to us this year. I never discussed him as a possibility because I didn't think we would after taking Brown, but I'm not mad we did--especially when Beckham was taken right before us. I think Mosley has Luke Kuechly potential.

Yeah, everyone was in love with Mosley mid season of 2012. What do you think that means for Brown? I think it could be good for him in the long run.

I certainly hope he can reach that potential for us. That's what I kind've expect drafting an ILB so high. Would be a huge get if he can have a Kuechly impact.

The Jernigan pick afterwards make sense. They need better protection, especially after losing Art.

I don't think it means anything for Brown. You now have two long-term LBs that can be the face of the defense for a very long time. Brown offers a lot as a pass rusher and in coverage. Mosley is all-around good at everything. He could replace Smith. I think we're likely to see a lot of 4-3 with LB emphasis. Now that we have Jernigan, I expect us to use him as CAR used Star Lotulelei.

Guys .. you have to remember, it is not about the salary itself ... it is about the difference between the salary cap hit and dead money. Next year, Smith will save a total of .75M in cap. So, he doesn't need an all-pro season this year to be around for next year ... all he has to do is be worth more than some other ILB we can pick up for .75M. Will he be that ... yeah, I think he will.

Now, 2016, his release would save 2.1 M. If both C.J. and Brown develop into solid starters, they might consider releasing Smith - if his performance is not worth that 2.1 M. 2017 .. now we're talking 3M, so it will be a long-shot that he sees that year.

No I'm talking about the 3M signing bonus he was given. That's all that matters.

Homerism aside, on a scale from Jameel McClain to Luke Kuechley, how good is he?

Tough to say right now, but he's definitely closer to Kuechly without the elite sideline to sideline range.

Is he able to shed blocks? That's been my biggest gripe with our LBs the past few years. As soon as a lineman gets their hands on them, they get pushed way out of the play.

He's capable. He doesn't do it with the consistency you would like to see. He got away with avoiding blockers a lot in college because of his athleticism.

I think the underrated thing about this pick is that even if he never reaches his ceiling, at worst he should be a solid player.

And good LBs start for 10 seasons.

Nevertheless. I still kindve hate this pick

Probably the best ILB since Willis.

Your inside source must have fed you that one; one of Mosleys best traits is his sideline to sideline range.

He reminds me of bowman.  Good change of direction, good instincts, really good use of hands.

I love the Mosley pick and I think he'll be great, but his sideline to sideline speed hasn't really impressed me if I'm being honest. Unless there's a game of his that I wasn't paying enough attention to.

The other guy is Brian Cushing.  Plus athlete (4.6 speed as opposed to Kuechley's 4.5 speed) but with his instincts and film study always in the right place.  If you go back and check Mosley's pro day is a lot like Cushing's combine numbers, low 4.6 forty and a 35 inch vertical.

come on now. Keuchley was a far superior prospect

Not really. Kuechley was a tackling machine. Mosley is a complete player.

The only game I remember not being impressed by his range was against A&M; and even then, he kept most of the plays in front of him (mainly Manziel running for his life).

I think he ran a 4.6, which is average for an ILB, but he is another one of those guys who plays faster than metrics would suggest...think of Boldin. Everyone said he is slow due to a 4.7 time, but how often have you seen him get run down from behind?

Just got done watching 3 games of Mosley.... LSU,A&M and Auburn.

Really had trouble finding something negative to say about him. I only saw him get knocked on his back once and that was from behind against LSU. He had 3 dropped picks that game (1 was pretty difficult), but he did manage to get them all deflected. Unfortunately for him one was caught...I guess you can say his ball skills needs improving. A little bit inconsistent at shedding blocks you know he could. He had some trouble against Tre Mason but his defensive line didn't help him any. Other than that and his injury history, he's as solid as it gets.

Sure tackler, great instincts--vision--anticipation--awareness, reads and reacts, makes fast cuts, possesses very fluid hips for a ILB his size. I love watching him in coverage. I think that's his best attribute.

Strange but for as solid as he was, I still came out wanting more...I can't put my finger on it. Overall I think he's a very solid & safe pick who will have success in the big leagues. He might fit the prototypical ILB in todays game. Can't wait to watch him in coverage against Jordan Cameron. :)

After seeing some of the rookie camp photos I can defintely say he looks bigger than A. Brown when first came to the ravens. That #57 doesnt look half bad either.
