[News] Round 1: Ravens Select LB C.J. Mosley

381 posts in this topic

elam wont be the face of our defense as long as he isn't playing in his real position. drafting pryor or Clinton dix allows elam to be the tackling machine he is, instead of forcing him to be a coverage liability, and I don't see how mosley is gonna be placed above BOTH of them in terms of BPA.

Because apparently our FO thought he was better than both of them. Elam will be the face of this defense for the future, and I bet he plays SS this year no matter what.

Love the pick, i'm really hoping we can nab maybe Jordan Mathews if Lee won't fall to us in the 2nd! 6-3 with a 4.4 40, he'll need a little time though. If not, i'm not sure if there are any safeties that are worth taking in the second by the time we pick, so a OT would be a priority.

Wow! Courtney Upshaw a bust. Sets the corner on the run as good as any 3-4 LBer in the league. Defense is adequate,it's the 0-line personel as currently coached that holds back Joe and his exceptional passing ability. Big money QB talent being protected by pop-gun zone blocking, finese "Look Out" blockers.

If you analyze the Ravens depth chart when selecting prob bowlers and impact players such a Nagata or Lewis, youll realize that those picks at that time were not labeled as area of need. Yes, a lot of luck is involved with this pick as far as him staying healthy but so is all other picks. I have to admit, originally I was in love with HaHa, but after watching a few clips, he's truly not worth the 17th overall pick. His frame is what sets him apart. I personally would of loved to snag Zach, but you cant have everything. CJ Mosley welcome to Baltimore!

Pick Manziel at 17, trade him to the Browns for pick 26 plus a third rounder. Trade the third round pick for Stevie Johnson from the Bills. Then use pick 26 to get thier safety. See, I can do Ozzies job, I will send my resume.

That is such a crazy risk, the term "in Oz we trust" would never be read or heard ever again. As far as Stevie Johnson, let's see if Latimer or Matthews fall into our lap before we go dealing our picks away because the last trade with Buffalo for a receiver (Evans) turned out to put a dagger in my heart.

Mosley was the best pick projecting for the next 5 years. I think that it is the FO's responsibility to make picks looking forward; not just the present need. It has been an overall successful strategy. We got a very good, potential pro-bowl player and some petulant fans think that the sky is falling. Oz and the FO will do what is necessary to field the best possible team this year and the next three years. There is so much time between today and kick-off. Let's let the process play out before you call for cleaning house in what has been the most stable and consistent organizations in football over the past two decades.

Yeah and all teams gotta do is throw deep on us and we are beat smh. We need that FS. I'm still praying that Omar Brown can show his potential.

Let me tell you - Eric DeCosta is not being forthright when he says that he would have taken CJ at #10 if they had the opportunity. Of course, you wouldn't expect him to speak the truth and reveal their strategy. The player they had in mind all along was Shazier, the OLB from Ohio State. They would have snatched him had the Steelers not beaten them to it.

Past injuries don't play out now like they used to. With today's medical technology these guys actually get better, faster, and stronger after surgeries - like the six million dollar man after getting bionic body parts. They call it the Adrian Peterson Effect. Players now come back much faster and perform at levels equal to or above pre-surgery.

I wasn't uber excited with the pick last night, but this morning I feel differently. I feel we really got the best available player who I believe will be the face of our defense in 5 yrs. Go Ravens and add the next best available player at 48!

In the 2nd round. There's 2 RT that could come in and start for us, Bitonio and Moses. The TE Amaro would be a solid pick. If Hyde falls to us, that would be great. A big, bruising RB is what we need. We could use a CB, and there's a couple guys that would be good like Joyner. I think we have to take one of those 2 RT if they are there. However, if Hyde falls to us (he probably won't) I don't see how you could pass on him.

Mosley was a great pick considering who was left on the board. Just goes to show you how unimpressed the ravens were with their picks last year. Same needs as last year S and ILB. Here is hoping a solid safety or tackle is available in round 2!

I also feel a little better about Moseley after a good night's sleep. I still would have rather of had Pryor or Ward. Moseley could be great. But I want to win now, this year. I think we're good at ILB this year. We needed a FS or RT. Now because all the FS, that could come in and start, are gone, Stewart will be our starting FS this year. I'm not to excited about that. We could still get a starting RT in the 2nd round, but in my opinion there's only 2 possible starters left, Bitonio and Moses. If we don't get 1 of them, then Wagner will be our starting RT. You could have found a good ILB in the later rounds, or even in next year's draft, or the year after. D. Smith is a baller you just signed for 3 years, and A. Brown was a 2nd round pick. What's Brown just pushed back to ST now? I don't like relegating last years 2nd round pick to a backup position. It seems like a waste. We'll see.

Excited with the pick! Mosley will be a beast. He is also good in pass coverage, which is great for todays passing league. Seems to me that he could be kind of like Luke Kuechly from the Panthers.

C.J. Mosley is a great pick for the Ravens. Going for a safety would be a massive reach. None of the safeties were highly regarded and the best fit for the ravens would be Clinton-Dix and he was late 1st rnd prospect at best. Besides, do you want the back end of defense to be filled with a roookie and a second year player? Mosley has great instincts, great in coverage, sideline to sideline player, great form tackler. Another great move by Ozzie, getting the best player available rather than reaching for a need pick.

Whats with all the Ozzie bama bias crap,I might be wrong but haven't the ravens drafted just as many players from Oklahoma as from Alabama? I like the pick I can see Elam and Mosley being great anchors for years and bringing this defense back to top 5 form

Dallas took the Ravens guy. The Ravens couldn't maximize a trade for their 1st round 17th overall pick. The 1st round didn't go the way the Ravens had hoped. So we have a project middle linebacker, who should turn out to be a very good MLB, and hopes for a better 2nd round that addresses our current needs.

The first round is about finding a player who will start day one and for years to come (BPA). If it fits a glaring need, great. Now with the later picks we fill in the gaps. Too many teams stretch just to fill their holes. Now those are wasted picks.

Thisbis a deep draft will all of you haters shut up oz and the front office know what they are doing we will fill the needs if not in the draft we still have cap room and there will be plenty of good players b dee ing cut to make room that we can pick up just like we always do i myself thought we would go after fs but we do what we always do and go after the bpa im fine with that. So for all who think they know whats best for the ravens and think they can do a better job send in your resume untill then trust that we have the right people invoved in making the decisiones.

Everyone is off the hook this guy may be future HOF. Only player I would have pick over him would have been Martin so it was a no brainer. We have a lot of money left with a lot of cuts going to be made. We are fine. Enjoy the rest of the draft Ravens Nation and enjoy the summer August will be here soon enough. Go Ravens!!!
