I love this pick. I think Moseley is going to be a monster and bring the intimidation factor back to the Ravens' defense. People complaining that the Ravens still have holes have seemed to forget that there are still 6 more rounds of the draft to go. Thinking you can only get quality players in the first round is just naive. Just because the Ravens don't use a first round pick to fill the hole doesn't mean that they'll be unable to effectively fill it. The Ravens rarely get a chance to pick as high as 17 in the draft and needed to use that opportunity to draft someone they think will be a star on the team... Especially with the rapid decline of star power on the team. Ray is gone, Ed is gone, Ngata is perpetually injured, Suggs is getting up there in age, and Rice (IMO) is on the decline. Looking to burn a high first round pick on a player for the sole reason that they fill a hole seems to me to be a very short-term view of things, especially when the starting ILB is over 30 .

Welcome to the city that prides itself on defense CJ! I hope he develops into a great overall sidelined to sideline linebacker that paired with smith/ brown will be dangerous. For where we were and martin gone, the only other really good option would've been cooks. With three picks tomorrow lets get some great players. This is where ozzie stands above the rest. I'm a little disappointed that ward and buchannon are gone but there is many great picks to make tomorrow. Guys like Mason, Ealy, Tuitt, Mattews, Latimer, Robinson, Baptise, Amaro, ASJ, Hyde, Reynolds, Archer, West, Nix, Jernigan, and brooks are still out there! lets not act like the draft is already over! I realistically hope we try to move up a little to grab mattews or latimer in the second than possibly grab west and dessir or Baptise in the third

I mean are his highlight really that impressive? Alabama's Dline opened up holes so big, Moses could of lead his people through them.

A poor perspective IMO. That's like not crediting Ray Lewis for making that tackle on sprolles 5 yards in the backfeild a few years ago to beat San Diego. He was in the backfeild as the handoff was being made several times. That's instinct and timing. Watch the first highlight of him they show after he gets drafted on NFL.com and try and tell me that was the D-line. (He makes both the guard and the FB miss, and then tackles the RB for a loss)

I can respect your opinion without agreeing with it but

"F- for Ozzie and the boys."

I'm gonna have to call you on this one. Perhaps not to everyone's liking but the consensus around the internets (and more importantly, at the Castle) is that this is a solid pick for us. Arthur Brown will see time at ILB as well as ST and he will progress.  The addition of CJ under the tutelage of Darryl Smith and Pees will only make this defense better.

Six rounds left... patience, brother, patience.

good night all; work in the morning.

Kinda like our D-line did for Ray, if you were looking closely you would have noticed his instincts, tackling, sideline to sideline, great in coverage, shedding blocks, and that he's the total package.

This is somewhat of a head scratcher but we should have known it'd be another Alabama guy. Just don't see the logic in it with the likes of Upshaw, Brown, Smith. and even Simon in the wings. The R's still don't have the big play maker on O that is so desperately needed. Cooks could very well have been that difference maker on O that the teams needs to compliment Smith on the other side. With S. Smith and Daniels getting up their in age they're just one or two injuries from being back to square one on O. And with no O the D will, once again, have to be on the field a disproportionate amount of time and, also once again, rely primarily on Tucker's leg. Sorry, but a downer 1st. round pick to this poster.

I'm starting to love this pick... This was an awesome pick. If he's anything close to Luke Kuechly, we've got one heck of a football player. His movements remind me of Ed Reed for some reason. He's one athletic guy. I'm still worried about FS, though. Still confident we'll get a good offensive lineman. And I still believe in the depth at WR and DL.

Firstly, Upshaw and Simon are OLBs... and you talk about S. Smith and Daniels are getting up there in age, but the same could be said about D. Smith. Pick 17 in the first round is a rare opporunity for the Ravens to get a star player, and they still have 6 more rounds, and even more picks to fill the rest of their holes. Plenty of talent can still be found in the draft.

And, as far as play-makers go... I'm pretty sure we're all gonna love what Matt Elam is gonna do closer to the line of scrimmage. Two great pass rushers, two great instinctive linebackers, and Matt Elam making plays close to the line of scrimmage... I'm looking forward to that. The only position I'm nervous about is the FS position. Gotta get someone on the backend. Question is... who's gonna panic if we take Timmy Jernigan or Stephon Tuitt in the second round and don't go for a FS or OL?

I like the pick. It gives Arthur Brown less pressure and more time to develop into a well rounded ILB while Daryl Smith and CJ Mosley take charge.

Man I seriously don't understand this pick we pick not even a need we have so much depth and it's guys who are undrafted and they're pretty good this guy has a bad injury history that's horrible lets see if he can even last a game and did they forget we traded up in the 2nd round to get Arthur Brown c'mon we have a bigger need at FS not at LB smh hopefully these next rounds are way better than this guy.

CJ can immediately step into either Mike or Will with Daryl Smith. Arthur Brown isn't ready and we saw that Josh Bynes and McClellan can fill in in a pinch, not as starters. If Rolando McClain hadn't retired, I could see us taking Clinton-Dix or Pryor easily. That didn't happen, but we got a nice ILB in exchange. As far as playmakers on offense, I can see us taking advantage of Marqise Lee slipping out of the 1st or waiting on Jordan Matthews or Cody Lattimer to groom while Smith(s) and Marlon Brown are our core receivers. I agree with you on the need for a Free Safety but I'm willing to wait and see who we pick in the second and third rounds.

Great pick!! this guy runs on energizer batteries, he'll be great for us... you cant teach instincts and thats what he and D.Smith would give us. We need to stop our oponents running on us, people are quick to forget how we got run over last season. Am still worried about the FS position, we need a play making safety... I know the sexy pick in the second round would be a OL or FS but there are some really really good CB's falling I think if one of them is still there when we pick, we keep to our mantra and pick the best player available.

Yeah it might be a great Pick, and I have no issue with him especially if he turns out to be a stud. However all the ELITE Safeties are gone and WARD went 30, thats whats more frustrating. The fact that no other Safety in this draft is worthy of wearing a Raven Uniform. The 2FS's with Ceilings of a Ed Reed or Earl Thomas, HAHA and Ward both went round 1 and WARD was our guy. Ozzie should have made moves to get him. Now were stuck with a mid to late round bum plug player, until next years draft or the next year after when there are a couple high ceiling FS's. And a giant gaping hole at FS with nobody to strike fear.

This is the deepest draft class in ages. Mosley was a projected top 10 pick after the combine. In a normal draft year, he might have gone as high as a top 5 pick. It is his work ethic, and leadership abilities that make me confident that this guy is a great player.

Just like every other Bama player we drafted? Only time will tell. Neither 1 of us knows for sure till he hits the field.

Watch 2nd round.. Ozzie and company will be so predictable! I bet if Cyrus Kuandijo BAMA OT is available at 48 they will take him. Why because its all about the Bama ties.

NOTE TO OZZIE: Pay Attention to the draft, get us some Skill players before there gone. Your having a run on pass rushers and DBs and premium offensive weapons, get us a couple..

.Rnd 2 Latimer, Lee, Seferian Jenkins,

Timmy Jernigan DT, Louis NIX NT

Rnd 3 Jarvis Landry, Antonio Richardson, Mewhort

Comp Terrance West

I would have rather had Pryor or Clinton-Dix, but it's not a bad pick. What does this mean for Arthur Brown?

My guess is it means that he'll be used sparingly this season, develop, and then take over the weak ILB position when D. Smith leaves or retires (probably after this year).

After watching Moseley's reaction, and his tape I'm a little disappointed in this pick. He has great instincts, and is a sure tackler, but to me he plays slow, and lacks the fire that you want in a leader on defense. You just got drafted by a great franchise and you act like they called your number cause your prescription is ready. ILB's are not a very valuable position in the league anymore and I wouldn't waste a 1st Round pick on one unless I thought their athleticism was off the chart and I thought they were going to be dominant.

I'm almost as excited about Browns drafting Manziel as I am about Ravens drafting Mosley. I HATE that smug arrogant clown called Manziel. Now it's twice as much fun to watch our Ravens' kicking Browns and Manziel along with them to the dirt twice every year (theoretically even more, but c'mon, who are we kidding). This guy won't last a season as a starter in the AFC North. Oh joy!

This was a terrible pick. Calvin Pryor was there for the taking and Ozzie passed on him for an alumni. Smh!! What Alabama first rd player in the past couple years translated to the nfl? Mosley is alright but he's not a 1st rd pick, he's to injury prone to play in this division. The draft drought continues.

This dude is a beast!!! I still can't believe he fell to us at #17! LBs with his skills do not come around very often. I can't wait to see him in that purple and black.

I kind of like this pick. Everyone is crying FS, but I think a decent DB period would fill. I really think we should give the mix of player we have and maybe expand Webb. Webb was drafted as a Safety, he just happens to have good all around skills for a DB. Also don't forget Omar Brown. I think we get a DB, RB, OL guard or tackle depending on who is on the board, A QB and a WR. The order will be determined by who is on the board but there is still good value at all of these positions. Just to much crying on here and not enough people stepping back and looking to see things aren't bad at all.
