The Vent Thread 2014 Draft

Not only will you be eatibg these words, but probably be wearing a Mosely jersey once you see him in Beastmode. Just chill and see

like the player, hate the pick. We slightly improved, when we could have improved drastically by getting an impact player at a huge position of need, Guys that would have been pretty good value picks as well.

I do want to see if the flyer on Kapron Lewis moore pans out. If not meet Arthur Jones insurance replacement, in Timmy Jernigan. We are reloading guys to be great again. And we are doing it the correct way. Kudos to Ozzie for his vision of the future.

It wouldnt shock me to see a WR pick next

Is anyone worth anything really left? I mean that wouldn't be a project.

I do believe I just watched most of what I'd consider possible immediate impact players go off the board.

Anybody follow the picks on walterfootball.com ?

just visited the site. Dude basically said all our picks are terrible

from the website:

Baltimore Ravens: Timmy Jernigan, NT, Florida State: C+ Grade

Timmy Jernigan is apparently going to play nose tackle because he makes no sense as a five-technique in Baltimore. The Ravens actually wanted to add a nose tackle to challenge Terrence Cody so they could move Haloti Ngata outside, so this does make sense as a scheme fit, despite what Todd McShay said during ESPN's telecast. It just wasn't expected - and I thought Jernigan would drop because of his failed drug test. We spoke to a couple of teams that took Jernigan, Zach Mettenberger and the other players who tested positive off their board. Baltimore may have been able to obtain Jernigan in the third round.

Baltimore Ravens: C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama: C Grade

I hate to question Ozzie Newsome, but I'm not a fan of this pick. Trusted sources who wouldn't smokescreen us told us that they had C.J. Mosley in the second round because C.J. Mosley was damaged goods. We actually spoke to two teams that thought Mosley would be available in the second round. The pick makes sense for need purposes, and Mosley could pan out, but this selection has a very high bust rate.

Love the Brooks pick

Weaknesses

Could stand to bulk up and get stronger. Inconsistent tackler -- arrives out of control, does not always see what he hits and will miss some tackles seeking the knockout blow. Is built like a cornerback, sustained a concussion as a senior and durability could be an issue given his aggressive playing style. Minimal production on the ball -- was not a playmaker. Has average hands and leaves some INTs on the field. Poor short-shuttle time (7.35 seconds) at the combine.

...but most important...

Has starter-caliber ability if he can improve his ball skills,

Which means he is a project, not an impact player. Not impressed when we could have had Clinton-Dix because we NEED a starter.

Dix and Mosley aren't comparable players.  Mosley is a far superiour player.

That TE pick was such a reach and there were several nice players still left, i.e. Bruce Ellington, Antonio Richardson, Cameron Fleming, etc. Terrence Brooks has been best pick so far

Every draft one can go "wait - why not this guy or that guy?" usually though, you can see the idea behind the pick - get it and understand it.

This draft though - after our offensive woes this past season, the patchwork job with veteran FAs being a dismal failure, and the promise of "building the offense" - well, this draft is crap.

We've done nothing for the offense yet again.

I can honestly say. I don't know much about that last pick the TE and I follow mock draft etc all year long. If we were going to take a project pick why not pick M.Bryant at WR. The deepest WR draft in years and we don't get anyone???!

Marlon Brown and Mellette have to really make a leap.

Had a chance at Moses to help Oline.

Maybe we can get Hurst at ot later

Honestly jets are cashing in on solid picks after us. I really wanted both of the Jets picks. Pryor and Amaro.

The first 3 picks were all good value and BPA, I get that. Then like in almost every draft Ozzie has his obligatory head-scratcher of a pick. Think Jah Reid and Gino Gradkowski.

Crockett Gilmore... Who? Some jabroni hayseed out of Podunk, Mountaintown with probably the worst athleticism at the position in the entire draft. Where do we find these guys? Did our scouting consist of looking at videos of him chucking mountain goats taken from his neighbors deer cam? He is a 6th round prospect with the ceiling of a blocking #3 TE, and there is no guarantee that he will even be that. Not what you really want out of a 3rd round pick. In a draft this deep this is the best there is at the end of the 3rd?

Why would you talk about a player like that that you obviously have no idea about? First he was projected in the 4th. Second he is a great blocker and has great hands. It might of been a little early for him, but another team might of wanted him late 3rd or early 4th. They probably covet his skills and he may turn out better than we think. He has the talent to be a talented #2 TE to go with Pitta in the future.

Ozzie Newsome does not care about offensive people.
