Ravens Draft 2014

Lorenzo Taliaferro Analysis

Strengths Outstanding size. Very good production. Is patient and follows his blocks. Finds creases and is adept navigating through traffic without losing speed -- good eyes. Nice spin move. Competes hard. Strong short-yardage producer. Runs hard and usually falls forward. Catches outside his frame. Helps chip in pass protection and is alert to see the blitz. Good football intelligence and awareness.

Weaknesses

Has very small hands. Limited speed and burst to the perimeter. Monotone runner who takes time to get rolling downhill. Much of his production is blocked for him. Plays in a spread offense where he is usually moving laterally at the snap and not stepping downhill. Stiff route runner. Regularly matched up against lesser competition.

Ready for the kicker?

Draft Projection Rounds 5-6

Bottom Line

A big, small-school producer with a solid all-around skill set to compete for a job as a role player in a zone scheme. Will need to contribute on special teams to earn a spot.

I was totally fine with Winston as our RT but dont be surprised if Baltimore still goes for OL.

wasn't Winston really horrible in Arizona?

Im livid the Browns got West and Desir. Where's our rb, wr, cb.. just going to ignor positions that needed depth? ESPECIALLY rb and cb and we come out with nada

Last small handed RB we drafted never made the field for us, Ced Peerman... He turned out to be nothing more than a special teams play for someone else...

But he did very will in Gary Kubiak's system. He's an option, not the long term solution. Relax lol

Musa would have been a true star if not for the horrible injury due to the horse-collar. I still cringe when I remember that game.

Such a shame, he was one of my favorite guys even though he barely played. I had high hopes for him, but that "tackle" by Roy Williams ruined him. Wish they would have banned the horse collar tackle earlier, who knows what could have been...

ESPN is giving us credit for the pick by the way, they like Lorenzo a lot.

This is a shameful day 3.. missed out on every single good rb and wr this year.

Nah, there's still some decent WR's on the board... You just dont know it.

If we drafted 0 offensive players, this offense would be much better than last year's nonetheless

I disagree the online is not fixed joe can not throw to anyone laying on his back and the only thing the front office did for offense was swap out two old guys clark and stokley  for Daniels and smith. However I am glad we got a running back .

Watch Ray Rice get suspended and Pierce get injured.. wheres our talented rookie rb? Oh yeah we dont have one because we decided to reach on a TE who would've been there in the 4th. We've been garbage in this draft since the Brooks pick

For those who are asking for WR and RB, I hope you know the Ravens still need to address their line. Joe Flacco isn't throwing to anyone if he's on his back.
More of the style over substance type i guess.

I'm actually cool .Been around since the ravens started I am used to Ozzie ignoring the offense and if it takes a rebuilding year or three to get a good offense and defense I'm good with that too. I am not familiar with Winston but I have heard nothing but negative  about him that's why I ask we have some good posters here that actually give good insight into players etc . thanks for the info

Depleted by our 5th comp pick, horrible, horrible, horrible day 3. Watched all the rb's fly off the board because we had to reach with our 3rd comp

The only 2 positions of need that we haven't addressed are WR and OL.  There is always UDFA, too.

A few teams drafted very well...Pittsburgh, Bengals, and the Browns drafted really well...6 top notch players. Ravens did well also, we got a blocking TE. :(

Team believed in many players on offense last year and then we had alot to cry about.

Defense gets all the attention and Flacco has to make due with the rest and then he's to blame when our offense is underwhelming? I dunno. I don't have to like the draft I guess, it just has to work, but it seems to me, that we've done a much better job helping out the defense last year than we did this year helping out the offense.

We did upgrade from last year. K.O is healthy right? Monroe is one of the best at his position right? Didn't we upgrade the Center position with Zuttah? Isn't Yanda one of the best in the league at his position? Wasn't Oher one of the most hated players in Baltimore? Isn't Steve Smith a future Hall Of Famer? Isn't Gary Kubiak one of the best offensive minds in league history. Im sorry but im trying to find a reason to cry over here but I see nothing. Tell me what im missing.

Could've had Andre Williams or Ellison to close the 3rd. I'm furious we squandered that pick when we have seriouz depth needs at rb especially. Guy we drafted isn't gonna cut it

Sometimes you have to make not so sexy picks in order to make the sexy picks sexy.

When was the last time we had a stud blocking @ TE? He's gonna improve our passing game and our rushing attack. We need that with all the pass rushers we have in the AFC North, with all the pass rushers we're gonna face on our way to the superbowl.

Well, it'll be awhile till the Ravens pick again. Plus some of these comments are just wow lol

Getting some food. Hope Reynolds and Coleman are still there and are when the 5th pick comes, only to see the Ravens pick a QB. lmao

no tight end taken since. Id bet he'd still be on th3 board even now. No issue with the player, just at the point he was drafted

we don't have a starting right tackle without one we repeat last year. and Ed reed is a first ballot hall of famer but I do not want him as our safety anymore . we need youth and an impact player not an impact player from ten years ago that's the problem . we upgraded the center spot with someone slightly better then gino. no other upgrades or signings happened your the second person who has alluded to upgrades and replacements  for offense there aren't any.

Texans rushed outside the tackles more than any other team in the nfl.  So that blocking is important.

Our scout for small school\late round picks should be fired for having the TE ranked so high.. missed on every RB now, shameful showing since Terrence Brooks

No other upgrades? So Pitta and Daniels are not upgrades over Clark and Dickson? And last time I checked our main problem with the O-line was the Center and RG. KO was injured and Gino was trash. And I would take Steve smith over Stokley, Jacoby Jones any day. I can't believe people are really thinking our Offense is going to be as bad as it was last year. This is too funny.
