Ravens Draft 2014

why are people mad that we didn't get a WR, we have alot of WRs in or roster all ready. we still have 4 picks left, calm down,

I think its because most wanted a number one wr or at least an impactful player they are all gone . and personally i'm sick of developmental wideouts....Your correct we have allot on the roster already and over half will not make this team better if they were capable we would not have missed the playoffs last year. Last year red zone was horrendous and we have done nothing to rectif that except swap two old players stokley and clark for smith and daniels . and also most folks when Ozzie said he was getting us a wr we did not know he meant  one for the practice squad or one who has no hope of contributing .

I agree. Going in I thought we either get one early who can make an immediate impact or try and target other areas while other teams snatch up the WR. That is exactly what has happened. We don't need another developmental WR at this point though.

Everyone please calm down and read this: As an AFC North team, defense needs to come first, it just works that way. I'm about to go full honest here, I didn't think our defense was that good last year. The defensive woes were just covered up by the superiorly horrible offensive woes. Let's take a look at what the Front office has done this offseason, based on Ozzie's 3 big keys to the offseason: They added a playmaking yards after the catch guy in Steve Smith, they bulked up the interior of the offensive line with the Jeremy Zuttah trade (also locked up Eugene Monroe), they added a center-fielder in Terrence Brooks today, and they also added a playmaking tight end in Owen Daniels.

The past two days they have done nothing but make our defense a strong dangerous force. Timmy Jernigan was supposed to be a first rounder, CJ Mosely is a leader and is known as a "quarterback of the defense" a face of a franchise who as a three down linebacker will make a big impact from the start. Crocket Gillmore can catch the ball if you watch his highlights, but he's also kind of like an offensive lineman as he can make big blocks and open up spaces on the field. I am not, and i repeat not comparing him to Jimmy Graham, just stating that they are the same size basically and I really believe this guy can develop into a star.

Now a name I feel a lot of people have forgotten is Kyle Juscyk who is going to have a breakout season as a guy coming out from the backfield. Now tomorrow, the front office will look to add an offensive guard, a running back, a wide receiver, and a corner with our last four picks (backup qb can be found via free agency at this stage) and they will also most likely look to lock down our offensive line with the signing of Eric Winston who is more than capable of being the starting right tackle next season. Also, don't forget about the undrafted free agents, who as we can see with Marlon Brown last year, can truly make a difference for our team. Next season will be very exciting, and I hope this helps you guys see the clear picture the front office is sending us of an awesome playoff bound season this year.

After calming down and actually watching some tape of gillmore I can see why we picked him..

He will complement our offense very well. I just hope he can hit the weight room and build some strength. If so, he is a great TE to fit flacco's style

I really like the pick now

After seeing the day two presser it seems the FO's really high on Gillmore as a fit. They talked up how important it is to have a blocker and really liked him as a viable receiving option (Harbs went out of his way to bring that up). I wouldn't be surprised if they thought a team like Atlanta were impressed too, and didn't want to take any chances of him getting taken in the 4th - while at the same time looking at the depth of the CB class and figuring someone will still be around.

I think tomorrow we come out with a RB, OL and two CBs. Order depends on who falls. Be nice if we could ship our 6th for a 5th next year while we're at it.

Because we've had our fill of developmental WRs that never pan out. And I'm not even specifically mad about WR. I would have taken a RT that could start. A RB even.

Any love for the offense at all.

I guess Crocker is the inline blocking TE that the team wanted.

To me, it looked like a draft for need, in which we got our blocking TE to compensate Dennis Pitta and Owen Daniels.

Looking on Gilmore, he compares favorable to Dennis pitta, so solid pick.

Luckily for us, a lot of great cbs have fell like Keith McGill, Pierre Desir, ej Gaines, etc.At this point, the FO has to be sold on rick Wagner and our receiving corp

I wouldn't have took a rb before 79 and with brooks on the board, we had to take him. I was a little suprised when we passed over Moses in the 2nd for Jernigan but Jernigan was a1st round graded guy. We really don't need another wr if we are sold on Mellette. I don't think we take a tackle. I think we go cb, rb, o-line depth, and we with the remaining rounds

Compares favorably as similar or as a complement?

I think at this point of the draft, we should just stick with our current Wide Receiver Corps, than try to get another rookie WR.

We already have our starters with the Smithses.

I'm curious to see how much development comes through for Marlon Brown, Aaron Mellette, and Deonte Thompson.

Jacoby Jones to me should be a good situational deep threat/ special teamer.

Why? If there is a good prospect, we should draft him.  The cream rises to the top.

I think he meant as a complement. I like the guy as much as anyone here, but there's no way he does as well as Pitta in the passing game.

No more WRs unless we get someone who'd improve our stocks from pretty much their rookie season falls. We have enough projects and we can go after a WR1 next year (optimistic I know, but dreams are free).

I actually think we're now set up to take a WR in rounds 1/2 next year. Last year and this years drafts were defense focused. This should set the core of the defense for 5 years at least. Steve Smith/Daniels are essentially 1 year fixes.

Looking ahead I can see WR, CB and DL as our big needs next year, though I think we'll have our DL stars established and won't really need to get younger. Next year would be a really good time to inject some long-term star talent at WR and CB though. Whether or not we'd pull the trigger remains to be seen, but at this rate those are the two spots I'd like to see us hit early. Very early days considering this draft isn't even over, but still.

Well overall so far so good . Analysts are calling it an A grade draft .

We still need o- line help . I'm not confident at all

in our line at this point .

A running back is also a must . Big physical style . We let Blount go to the Steelers . Should have picked him up .

It seems kind of silly to criticize the picks so far.  It wasn't the sexy thing to do, but bolstering the D was a smart move. The only question mark I see remaining is RT and hopefully Wagner pans out. If not, there's cap room left to find a suitable replacement after camp cuts.

We are fine at WR with the Smiths, Jacoby and Marlon. No need to get excited.

Gillmore will be an excellent complement to Pitta and Owens.

Again, not a headline grabbing draft, but solid and smart.

The reason the offense looked terrible was cause of o line. Monroe, KO and Zuttah have been added/have come back healthy. Pitta is back. Smith was added as a reliable target while retaining JJ and signing Owens. Quit your crying about offense not being addressed people. Not only that, we added a starting caliber WR last year as a UDFA. Most of our cap money was spent this off season on offense. Ngatas probably done when his contract is up so they're thinking ahead. I wish we used an earlier pick on a WR, but it's not going to do any good now.

I agree. There is and has been a lot of chatter about another WR, but we are not too bad in that dept as it is. At least for this year. I think we could take a 6 or 7 round WR, but nothing sooner, unless a real stud is left on the board.

I know I missed something now we replaced three lineman from last year who and with whom ? I know oher is gone but I don't recall seeing anyone else being signed or replaced . oher has not been replaced either. your

correct we have the exact same offense as last year with smith and daniels in for clark and stokley there is

absolutely no reason as all to think we can't finish like we did last year . and most of the idiots know Justin tucker is not going to beat either manning brees , or brady .

edit we did sign a center .

KO is back 100% and flipping 500 lb tires. Oher was awful. Oher, GG and Shipley were all awful. Wagner was probably much better than Oher last year, but they werent going to bench him.

Gilmore is 6'6 260. Good blocker with reliable hands, not a burner but can do both. Kubiak and Ozzie know TEs. He is a huge man.

Ok Seeing the With some of the additions we are likely moving to a 4-3.

Question is..... Do we have enough LBs to do this. We only have 4 on the roster.

Wagner went in for Oher last season - he was pathetic and everyone was screaming to get him out. KO we'll see. No way to know just yet.
