Why would you think the Ravens would lose a 3rd time?

The Giants didnt when they faced the Cowboys in the playoffs.

Dont even try and blame Tony Romos girl friend for being at the game.

I think everyone in America except Steeler fans would love another rematch in the playoffs. I say that because at this point I think the team that has the best shot at keeping Pittsburgh out of the Superbowl is Baltimore. Tennessee is coming back down to earth and now Haynesworth looks to be injured, possibly seriously. They've already beat New England convincingly and I'm not sure Indy, Jets, or Broncos could beat them. We match up the best as evident by our two tough and very close games against them.

I think they would lose the next time we played em.

No doubt in my mind about that.
Granted, beating a team, any team, 3 times in a single season is difficult. Fortunately, Pittsburgh has done that I believe 3 times that I can remember.

And I have no doubt in my mind that Flacco would find out just how much more intense a playoff game is in Pittsburgh compared to yesterday's game. If he couldn't manage more than a 22.2 passer rating in a game AT HOME that he needed to win how in the world would he manage a game situation even more intense? Please don't bring up the game earlier this year in Pittsburgh. Even novice football fans understand the intensity and pressure difference between an early regular season game and a "lose once and you're done playoff" game ON THE ROAD. Flacco has had a good rookie season but he is just that, a rookie. He had never been in a situation like yesterday's game before and he didn't perform. That might be the fault of the OC or the QB but the bottom line is the execution was not there. Now ratchet up the pressure and intensity a few more notches and bring the rookie into a playoff game on the road against a Qb that has playoff experience. If it wasn't the Ravens against the Steelers but another team led by a rookie QB against the Steelers in Pittsburgh who do you think would be the logical favorite?
Yea I know. The Steelers would be predicted to win this one with Flacco losing it for us.

Maybe he might not? Besides he barely threw the ball during the Steelers game.

I just hope that Flacco has a thing for playing on the road.

flacco was playing safe..he didnt want to throw the ball away just cuz he can throw it.. he played it the way he thought it needed played.no mistakes!!! the only thing wrong with that game- steelers did NOT have that touchdown... that ball was not cross the line.. might have looked like it from the front cam view..but on the horizontel... not even!!!!! i wanna rematch!!!!!!!!!! with a refs that aint blind as a bat

WHAT!!! I'd rather play Pittsburgh for a third time or the Titans for the second time in the playoffs than INDY. With the exception of the 2006 playoff game where Manning didn't get a TD, every time we play the Colts Peyton always kills our secondary. I do not want to see INDY in the playoffs, I'd rather travel to Pittsburgh or Tennessee than travel to INDY. I actually am rooting for a Ravens/Steelers matchup in the post season. Right now according to the playoff bracket, as the 6th seed we play the # 3 Seed and that is the J-E-T-S. The other WC matchup pits # 4 Broncos vs # 5 INDY, and the winner of the Ravens/Jets game goes against Pittsburgh but thats as of now. If Pittsburgh beats the Titans, we wont be able to play Pittsburgh until the AFC Championship game, if the Ravens can go that far.

I don't care who the Ravens play in the playoffs, as long as a playoff berth is locked up, period.

With that said, I most definitely want Pittsburgh again. Even though both teams matched up well yesterday, there's still unfinished business. I'm looking at it as being sweet revenge to eliminate the Steelers from the playoffs, even if the Ravens can't bring home a Super Bowl this year.

Selfish? Probably. Short-sighted? Yes. But, it's one of those cases where the hurt of being eliminated from the playoffs would be diminished if it meant having gotten farther than the Steelers in the postseason.

After all, a division title means nothing if you can't advance in the playoffs.

But, of course, a Super Bowl win would always be sweet, no matter how it comes. ;)

I'll be happy with whatever happens from here on out.

Franchise, I agree with you 100%. I don't care who the Ravens play in the playoffs, as our focus should first be to MAKE the playoffs. We control our destiny right now and we need to win these next two games to guarantee us a spot. If we lose again, then we need some of the AFC East teams to drop the ball so we can get in. Right now with our head to head tiebreaker over Miami and a better conference record than the rest of the AFC East teams, we still have the advantage. Unfortunately, we also have a tougher schedule than those teams. We need to shake off the loss and roll into Dallas, who is going to be emotionally charged now with their win against a tough Giants team and it being the last game in Texas Stadium.

Regardless, we will not be playing the Steelers until the second round of the playoffs at least, if not the AFC championship. Our third shot against the Steelers won't be decided until the results of this weekend's Titans/Steelers game is in. If the Steelers get the #1 seed by beating the Titans, then we will see them in the 2nd round likely after we defeat whichever team emerges out of the AFC East. If they get the #2 seed, then the rematch won't be until the AFC championship game. This means would we need the Steelers to defeat the Colts, nevermind our winning two games against the AFC East champ and the Titans.

Personally, I am hoping for the later rather than the former situation. Like Franchise said, it might be selfish, but how deliciously sweet would it be preventing the Steelers from reaching the Super Bowl by defeating them in their own house? That would be the ultimate revenge for their sweeping us this season.

But again, let us focus on defeating the Cowboys and thus removing our largest threat to our postseason hopes.

I'd rather play the Titans, Jets, Dolphins, Patriots, or Broncos. The Colts/Steelers would beat us straight up in the playoffs, and there is no way around that.

If anyone needed further explanation as to why the Ravens NEED to play the Steelers in the playoffs, this article by SI.com's Don Banks would be it.

The Steelers are now a "team of destiny"? Do people not realize what happens to 90% of teams that are labeled as such? They fall just short.

We NEED the Ravens to be the reason why they fall just short. The irony...the drama...the SATISFACTION of it all would be beautiful.

Something from the article to harp on:
These Steelers are indeed good; of that, there no longer can be any doubt. And if they're getting a bit lucky too, all the better. Super Bowls are won every year with just that equation.
Let's prove that equation wrong. Let's take the luck away from the charmed. Let's take eliminate all doubt about this past Sunday.

Let's just beat Pittsburgh when it counts even more.

Well said, and once again I agree with you completely. The irony is all the sweeter considering it would bring the yellow rags to a standstill in their house. Remember the boos from when we played them at Heinz? How we effectively silenced their crowd for three quarters? Imagine that in a playoff atmosphere and how our players would feed off it. Can you almost see the disappointed Steelers fans and players as our players walk off their field with their helmets held high? I can, and what a sight to behold it is.
