I thought I'd end up with him at 8. Newton has major talent and huge upside. He improved a lot as a passer this year. If you are building long term it's not a bad pick, although it's probably not the one I would have made.

I would have tried for Newton at this point as well. Insane upside and a great runner as well as an improving passer. Now that he actually had a defense, those Panthers were a really good team last year

They both have multiple years left, either would be a good choice.  So would Ryan and Flacco, Ryan gets a lot of unfair criticism around here but he really is an accurate QB who's good before and after the snap.
