[News] First Impressions Of Gary Kubiak's Playbook

THANK GOD !!!! Now we don't have to worry about being doubtful about scoring in the endzone this year. Lost count of how many times we lined up on the goal line and could not punch the ball in due to poor blocking schemes !!!

Sounds like a stud of an O line guy from the draft could do well his first year in this new simpler system huh?

After a disappointing season for the Texans, which led to Kubiak being fired, I expect Kubiak to have a chip on his shoulder, just like the rest of us Ravens. We're eager to get back to the playoffs, and Kubiak is eager to land a head coaching job again. Add these two together and you have an offense with great potential. I believe Kubiak will do a great job, and it will be refreshing for us fans to watch a new offense in Baltimore.

The guy knows offense, in his 11 years coaching in Denver they put up the most yds and TD during that span and after his first couple of years getting the the the Texans offense going they were one of the NFLs best for the next five years. Two years removed from the Superbowl we still have a veteran lead team with a lot of talent so I think the offense should click sooner then later, especially if it seems a lot more simplistic than last years.

We just need to get consistent blocking and everything will take of its self. It all starts up front. If the o-line opens holes ray/bernard and whoever we draft will have no problem picking up 4yards a carry everytime.

Quite honestly, this may be the first time in perhaps forever that we will actually have a real offensive coordinator ... one who actually brings some ingenuity to the unit and can put his stamp on things.

Simple is critical, given we can't spend 5 or 6 games figuring things out. By that time, if we aren't performing and winning, the season may already be a loss. It will be a very interesting season, no doubt.

Pierce specifically said the blocking schemes for the running backs are more simplified.

“Usually we have one or two reads in protection,” he said. “Last year, we had multiple reads and a lot of audibles and it got kind of confusing. I think it will give a chance to play faster.”

backs missing blocks lead to a few sack-fumbles and picks last season so this makes sense. And If Pierce feels its simpler and clearer what he has to do in the new offense on a passing down, that's good news.

You know, it just "clicked" after I read it... Oh, this is cool... they have a WR, a RB, and a TE from the Kubiak system... This is going to make life really a lot easier for these guys.

this is what i've been waiting for....we finally have an offense that we can call ours.....we never had a legit OC that I can remember....cam was good at times but this is going to be exciting to see....revamp the def last year and we revamp the off this year....bring it all together and what do you have.....a strong playoff running, well rounded team.

The great thing is this gives us a huge advantage over our division. We know what they do very well. Nothing has changed in Crapsburg, with the Bungles , or the doodoo browns. They dont know what is going to hit them. And by time they think they have a clue, we will have already swept the division. Get ready for a 12 win or more season. OHHH O, 0 0 0hhhhhh ohhh

When I first heard that Gary Kubiak was going to be the offensive coordinator I thought that we would be improving greatly on offense this year. Just look at how explosive the Texans have been in the past under his guidance. We are going to be better than 8-8 (take that Vegas!) and will be battling it out with the Bengals in December for the AFC North title. You heard it here first.

As long as Juan Castillo stays out of the way, and the lineman don't just let people run by them as they are looking for someone to block we will be golden.

It is a new system folks. It will take time to adapt; that is why our schedule is so dangerous so early, but I am with you: The best pickup was the offensive coordinator, Gary Kubiak.

You know, when Bernard says that the blocking scheme was more complicated last year, I can't help but wonder if that was Caldwell rather than Castillo?

Caldwell may have changed some things up from Cameron in his first full offseason. His Colts, between 2009-2011, were some of the worst rushing teams in the league. His first full season as OC, we WERE the worst rushing team in the NFL - the worst in quite a while, actually.

Now, with Caldwell out and Castillo still here, the schemes are simpler. Maybe it was an overall scheme issue rather than Castillo? Castillo has/had a reputation as one of the best OL coaches in the NFL but maybe he was being asked to teach the impossible.

Bengals lost both their coordinators and the Browns have yet another new head coach. I'd say a lot has changed. Nobody knows anybody right now.

Kubiak made Schaubs career, and it resulted in Schuab being the tip of the sword in Houston's downfall last season. When a team falls that hard, it is so difficult to turn it around that only a head coach in that situation can even comprehend the level of challenge it is. Kubiak was driving a car with four popped tires at the end of his career with the Texans. He got exactly what he needed with a fresh start in a winning organization, with an Offense that has so many new pieces in it, and more importantly, an Offense that needs a guy like him to take them to their maximum potential. That being said, the absolute most important factor for Kubiak and his story in Baltimore is that he has Joe Flacco, a QB that has the ability to play like the best in the league when he is on.

I can't put into words how excited I am for this upcoming year.

See, I'm a man of modest means, and sadly, we can't afford to go to every game. In fact since it's the cost of 3 tickets, we can only go to one game, maybe. So, each year we pick a game, and save up enough to go. This year we got midfield row 3 seats (Ravens side of course)for when the Panthers come to town (see the huge smile on my face).

Things like bringing in Kubiak, the new playbook, Steve Smith, Daniels, and bring back our guys has us jumping around high fiving and talking about games that won't be played until this fall. The epic moves the Ravens FO made this offseason is building up, in my opinion, as a historic narrative for an awesome playoff run and championship......I can't wait!! :)

GO RAVENS! GO RAVENS!

It is time for Flacco to become a consistent QB. He can show flashes of Joe Montana at times, and than show flashes of Kyle Boller at other times. However, I know for a fact that we have still not seen the best of Joe Flacco. We have seen what he is capable of, and every Raven fan has been waiting for the day that Joe Flacco truly becomes like the lights out SuperBowl run QB we saw from him. It is time for him to live up to his potential and play at that level all season long, and I think after a down season last year, a Ozzie Newsome rebuilt team this year, and an Offensive genius in Kubiak, that this will finally be the year Flacco rises up as one of the NFL elites that he has so prolonged to be.

Been saying that all along. Position coaches rarely have anything to do with what happens on Sunday. They teach proper technique, footwork, positioning, etc. It's up to the OC and the players to execute on Sundays.

Does anyone really believe that a 6' 1" barely 300 lbs guy can successfully play G in today's NFL. I congratulate Shipley on giving his best effort by playing out of position but he was clearly over-matched and run over more than "Speedbump" Cody.

With Castillo running the O-line drills at the combine, we have an "inside" look at almost every Tackle in the draft - so hopefully we can make some quality draft picks.

I've heard that the offensive schemes under Cam and then Caldwell were a touch confusing for players. I looking forward to the new look offense this year. So much went wrong with Caldwell at the helm last season and simplicity in execution, not playbook complexity, is what allows the team to beat defense
