ThePurpleWall

could be the next great game

Not typically into this genre of game but this one is very interesting. Love the open world concept in any game and the ability to be running around your ship and/or jump into a fighter is cool. Also, being able to build up your ship from a junker to a cruiser is nice.

My concern is that it may be too close to the other dime-a-dozen space battle MMORPGs that I never find enjoyable - basically all MMORPGS in general actually. Where your lvl 1 tin can gets blasted by some basement dwellers world-eater lol.

It better be a good game if people donated like 40 million dollars through kickstarter to dev it.

the issue is the vr thing leaves people like me out who can not use it due to medical cranial implants so this leaves out Shunt users and people with the bionic ear implant as well .    they should have thought this through Disabled Gamers are a big market they will lose

Precisely.

Seriously though, I'm building a monster when Haswell-E comes out.  It's going to be at least a $2500 machine.

Whats your GPU?

I'm building a fresh system man, I've been using laptops since I've been in college the past few years.  My last desktop had a Geforce 7200, an E6600 Core 2 Duo, and DDR2.  It's time to get a proper PC again, and since X99 is introducing DDR4 and true 8 core processors outside of the server market from Intel, it seems like the perfect time to spend big and set up my rig for at least the next 4-5 years.

I'm hoping the GTX 800 series launch happens at the right time though, that'd be nice if all this new tech dropped at the same time.  G Sync seems very promising (I know the 700 series will be compatible, but still), it's incredible that it's taken so long for one of these companies to make an adaptation that to me seems so bloody obvious.

You're quick, missed the edit.  They still haven't announced the GTX 800 series release date, but as it stands now I'd probably get the GTX 780 Ti.

Dont you need specific monitors for G sync?

Yes, but again it's time.  I'll probably wind up getting the new Asus ROG 27 inch with the 1ms response time and 120Hz refresh rate.  It's go big or go home with PC IMO, I want the best experience possible.

Solid, I'll probably upgrade to a G-sync monitor in like a year or two when their cheaper.

I actually don't think it'll be that bad given the size and the specs.  I believe it's listed at $799, but Amazon usually has big markdowns on monitors anyway and I can wait a bit as long as the set up is ready for it.

I wonder if ship prices will come down after the game is released, since they theoretically wouldn't be so desperate for funding.

I also wonder if this would be a good game to use the flight stick with.  It's been a really long time since I used that for a game.
