Ravens sign TE Owen Daniels

157 posts in this topic

Daniel's is a good pass catcher, but does this leave us with a need for a blocking TE? Other members have noted he realy doesn't fit that mold. As stated earlier though, no more Dickson.

So, what happens when Ebron falls to the Ravens? We take him anyway, right? BPA.

I think we would, but I don't think he makes it to us.  There are a couple of guys I think they might have their eye on in the later rounds - Pedersen, Lynch.

Wow, this is excellent. I would be okay with Daniels as the starter had Pitta left; as a #2 TE this is just fantastic. One less hole to worry about come draft time.

Pretty excited about this. Being an Iowa fan, I really hope we draft cj fiedorowicz. I think he would be perfect for our team.

Love this signing, big upgrade over Dickson. The offense is really shaping up nicely and we haven't even had the draft yet

Ozzie's quietly having a nice offseason. Let the Patriots and Broncos make their headlines.

Can't wait to see what our offence can do next season.

C. J. Fieodorowitcz would be amazing now. He is the run blocker we need.

Nope.

Cant pronounce his name, he cant be on the team.

I love it. We really only have one true need going into the draft now. That's pretty dang good and I don't know how many other teams can say that

Still dont know how I would feel with Pryor Or clinton Dix as a first pick with so much talent available in the first round.

Makes you wonder, we really couldnt match Byrds contract with the saints? seriously?

I agree that I love it.  Although I think we have 2 needs right now.  FS and OL.  But with Daniels, it brings us a lot more flexibility.

Just so long as Flacco stays upright, has time and can progress through his reads. Not that this is anything new here. Give the dude time, wow. Have him flustered even a hair, yikes!

The better news is this means no more Ed Dickson.

I think this is more likely bad news for Clark. Dickson blocks enough to still be in consideration.

if it were 2010 we would have the best recieving core in the league. Owen Daniels is a great route runner with soft hands BUT, separation might/probably will be an issue now.

This.  He's not the guy he was, I think he's coming off surgery too.  But he is better than Dickson.  All we can ask for in a backup.

I was expecting this.  Kubs has brought so many other of his compatriots from Houston and the Ravens certainly love to recycle the Texans cast-offs.

This signing really means they won't be targeting a TE high this year.  Sorry Ebron fans.

Lewan would be a nice pick, but I think they are really favoring Wagner so that would surprise me.  I really think they're really plugging holes in FA because they're going to burn some draft picks to move up.  My guess is its for either top receiver (Watkins/Evans) or perhaps Clinton-Dix.

Everybody worried about not having a blocking tight end when we haven't had a legit blocker at the position since Heap left. Bajema was a good blocker but the team used him sparingly. No, Owen is not a first rate blocker but its not as though this is his first rodeo. He's had 8 years of blocking guys on this level so don't act like he's utterly atrocious at it, he'll get the job done when called on to do it and he and Pariani can help mentor Pitta on improving that aspect of his game because as much as I love Dennis, he really can't block at all at this point in his career.

him or troy. Troy is the better overall player. CJ is the the best blocker. Troy isnt far behind and a serious weapon in the red zone.

i spoke of troy on the news page ,,this is a good pick he can learn for a yr with no pressure

And of course someone negged you for this statement against the golden boy but I got you covered with the +1.  Keep speaking truth!

Honestly, moving up to get a top talent would be my dream. We don't need to move up for Dix, however, maybe we move up to get a Mike Evans or a Kahlil Mack. Additionally ... Our compensatory picks are not tradable, so we have ammo.
