Ed Reed is still out of work...

I know...  I think we all were just angry at him for leaving "for money".  But that is exactly WHY there are many guys that do that.  They seek out "just one more" contract...  for what they think they're worth.  I get the business part of it....  And I was self-employed as well...  in retail... If we want to compete in the market for value and valuing ourselves, we must understand  what is a very real value, whether we believe we are worth it or not.  Or to put it in a "business" or "product" scenario, does your customer believe your product is worth that amount.  As I said, I agree with you, I just think that sometimes we over-value ourselves or our product....  which can lead to us going "out of business".

Best of Luck to Ed.....  Like I said, He was a GREAT RAVEN~!

And I agree with you as well.  But that is exactly what the organization is doing things for....the money!  Why not the players?  Sure, there are times that people can overvalue themselves and yet at the same time; where football is concerned; the organization can be "all in" in being for you UNTIL they ask you to take a pay cut.  LOL!  And with all that these players go through with their bodies and the uncertainty of walking off the field on their own power game after game after game; I can definitely understand why they want their money or what they feel they are worth.  Since Ed has been gone...old age, old body, neck and hip injury and all...where has our "ball-hawking" safety play been this past season?  It walked out the door when Ed Reed walked out the door.  Call it what you want but that is what Ed brought to the table for years.  Was his skills diminishing?  Absolutely!  But, he was still ED REED in the eyes of many offenses.  There will never be another!  Miss you Ed!!

That wristband that Brady wore in the AFCCG a few seasons back says it all.

"Find 20 on every play"

Ed may have said some things he shouldn't have his last couple of years, but he had no hidden agenda. He always speaks his mind, probably too honest in what he says, never thinking how the media will spin it into something it's not.

What bothered me more than anything was his "tackling" his last couple of years. If he was in that much pain he should have at down.

Ed Reed will be a first ballot HOFer and we were fortunate to have him play for the Ravens. I just hope he quits now without embarrassing himself.

Yeah. As someone already said, his tackling looked like career choices in the last couple seasons with us.

It's important to point out that Ed had 3 interceptions and 4 passes defensed with the Jets in 7 games.

For comparison Cleats Elam started 15 games at Free Safety and had.........listen close folks........1 interception and drum roll please..............................................................one pass defended.

The ball Elam held onto bounced around on his hands for 30 seconds before Roberto Duran pulled it in. (You're gonna have to know Duran's nickname to get the point.)

Now lets be clear why Elam was starting......The reason is because our aging and out of touch general manager elected to draft this no talent poor excuse of an NFL safety with OUR Number 1 Pick.  Then our clearly conflicted G.M. elected to acquire a joke of a Free Agent safety from Oakland.....When that experiment failed miserably our nimble G.M. cut the Free Agent but still wound up paying him upwards of 3 million dollars for the privilege of being wrong about his talent level and the privilege of cutting him.  All of this, because this same G.M. let our Hall of Fame Safety walk when he was essential for Team Stability.

Whatever Ed Reed had to say about Ozzie Newsome was kind.

We need a new G.M. in the worst way.

Ray was embarrassing himself in his last season - he looked awful and quit at the right time. Reed is in same boat but doesn't want to call it quits I guess. He  was pretty bad for the Jets (who specialize in getting old players out of gas like Favre, Lott etc).

Ed Reed is like The Sopranos.  It's over.  Find a new show.

He got paid with his representation trashing Ozzie all the way to Houston. Past year has been terrible for him but he got what he wanted.

There is a joke here, but unfortunately it's not April Fools Day.

Its April Fools Year in Baltimore.

I thought you wasn't a stats type of guy ?  According to rotoworld.com Reed has lost many steps and was a weekly burn victim in coverage last season. He's our No. 29 free-agent safety. I think if he was still  a solid starter he would have been signed or alteast re-signed by The Jets.

We all know  Matt Elam was never drafted to be a free safety and his best game was against Lions in which he was moved to strong safety.

I get the Roberto Duran "hands of stone" reference for Elam's catching ability but I don't know why you call him "Cleats" Elam brah.  Why is that?

Its some stupid reference about his height, I think. Again, wish a password was misplaced or something. Oh well, there's always next offseason.

We're a little off-topic here talking about Matt Elam or comparing him to Ed Reed.  First of all they play different positions.  Yes Elam played mostly FS last year, but he's really more of an in the box, in your face type of player and better suited to SS.

In a perfect world we would've paired Elam with Reed and allowed him to get great mentorship, and Reed would've certainly lined him up in the right position on every play.  But instead we did have the failed experiment in Michael Huff, and Ihedigbo while solid is also more of a strong safety type.

Some of these assessments on Elam are wrong, pre-mature, and again OFF-TOPIC!

Tagged him "Cleats" because he needs the inch of those shoe cleats to be near 5' 10".  He can't make a play on the ball. Not in this league.

That Safety Scenario Boondoggle is as big a problem as letting Boldin go.  Two gems from the former clear thinker. Still not certain who is going to be our last line of defense.
