Just for Fun: Who Did/Do "YOU" Forget Use to Be a Raven?

169 posts in this topic

Good topic!

I'm surprised no-one mentioned that they wish they could forget Cundiff.

Also it seems as though the whole world outside of Baltimore forgets that Rod Woodson was a Raven.  He's one of those guys that's considered an all-time Steeler great, but who did he win a Super Bowl with again?

And as far as practice squad late round picks go i'll throw Justin Harper into the mix.  He was one of those guys who had potential but just couldn't put it together in the pre-season.

Also remember that guy we had Derek Anderson who had a random pro-bowl season with the Browns right before we drafted Flacco?  I still don't know why he ended flaming out so bad in Arizona.

Felt bad for him - just too injured to play anymore, I think he retired then, didn't he?

Yeah. I was actually a little excited when we signed him too. Oh well

On topic, Randy Hymes. I remember thinking Tavares Gooden was gonna be amazing, especially with the way the writers on this site were hyping him up. Kevin Johnson...

One guy I think a lot of fans forget about is James Trapp. He was a backup safety and sometimes used as the nickleback (especially on plays where the nickleback was gonna blitz) from 99 to 02. While he was a decent defensive back, especially when it came to open field tackling, his forte was as a gunner on the punting squad. The guy was so good at timing his hit on the returner, usually taking the guy's head off the second he touched the ball. Ended up causing a few fumbles that way.

.

I was at the 2008 afc title game vs. Pitt and before the game they showed him up on the big screen. He was wearing a black jacket and he ripped it open. To show steelers stuff. His intentions probably weren't bad but it could have been taken as a shot at us.

I have a difficult time understanding a guy who can leave a team, play for three others over a seven-year period, and then come back and say that he still feels like he's a part of the first team.

Especially after he was cut because Rooney said PITT wasnt the salvation army.

Scott Mitchell, he was actually a serviceable QB in Detroit and made the playoffs twice in four years, but he was terrible here. If I am not mistaken, didn't he start the 1999 season and then lose the QB job to Stoney Case during the second game.

Not quite sure when he lost his job but he always looked like a big water buffalo being dragged down by a bunch of hyenas during sacks.

Mitchell was also "old" here, in his 9th season when he came to Baltimore - that's what we seemed to be doing for several years, trying to find guys who were aging and "just past their prime" or something like that, maybe with the hope that they'd have enough skill left to pilot a team with a great defense.

ROTFL, yes he did. Awesome analogy!

Anderson was a huge disappointment

His YPC average (4.7 in 2006 and 4.1 in 2007) lead me to believe that he could have been a good player had he been given more playing time. Anderson was active for all 16 games in 2006.

I wish I could forget Stony Case and Eric Zeier, but I can't.

He wasn't that bad. Just look at his TD-INT ratio:

1996: 1-1

1997: 7:1

1998: 4-3

That's relatively solid in my opinion, especially for a backup.

Now we should remember some of the players listed here especially the ones of the last 10 years who were good/decent players

wait really?

never heard of him

doesn't ring any bells

WAIT REALLY?!

what were these special teammers?

never heard of him

You never heard of Ovie Mughelli or Willie Anderson? When did you become a fan?

Mike Anderson had a weird career as a Raven. I was genuinely excited when the team signed him. He was coming off a 1000-yard season and could have been a great option behind Jamal and then McGahee. 67 mostly forgetable touches over two years later, he was gone.

been a fan since I was a kid and the Ravens came to Baltimore. Dad took me to the first ever ravens game.

Didn't really start obsessively following the team till around 2005 or 2006, when I got my first laptop. Its just much easier to keep track of players nowadays though
