I would not mind working for Steve Biscotti.

Wow, Biscotti is a generous, and astute business man. What a great point in time to reward hard work and provide incentive.

Steve is The Man.

Really. That is such a show of support for his HC. Biscotti is a just a really good guy. Makes you happy he is the Ravens owner, doesn't it?

Shame he didn't own the Orioles too.

Somewhere in the world Mike Preston finds his beloved donuts aren't as sweet this afternoon

Haha, so true!

Love the move by Mr. B. Harbs and the Ravens WILL be back to their winning ways this season.

Steve Biscotti called it his way of showing John Harbaugh support after a tough season.I think it's well deserved and there is no reason for me to explain why....

Off 2013 its hard to argue that anyone on the team was deserving of an extension.

Would have preferred to resign him after the 3.  10 years is a very long gig in today's NFL and was not enamored with many of Harbaugh's decisions last year.

It doesn't actually matter.  If Bioscotti wants to he can fire him and just eat the money

I know, right. We're fortunate to have a stand up guy as our owner.

And I'm sure Hoffberger and EBW are rolling over in their graves seeing what Mr. Asbestosis has done to their storied franchise.   :34853_shakehead:

LOL I wonder what would happen to Pete's legacy if he ever gets a Championship.

Sometimes I think that's how they pay him, and that's why they keep him, because his articles show no insight into the team in the slightest, just his personal opinions - nobody actually talks to him unless they have an axe to grind with the FO or someone on the team, and generally they've been cut by that point.  He has to be the least "inside" insider in sports media.

Duh, he's a columnist. His job is to share his personal opinion.

And I must disagree. He's a pretty good columnist, generally speaking.

Not Harbaugh's biggest fan, but I do realize he is not terrible. He is marginally better than half the league in my opinion so I can't complain to much. Just dint like the guy.

Well he acts like he's a beat writer when clearly he's not, and that's my point.  It's not like he's Aaron Wilson or something like that with actual access to the team.

I dont understand this didn't we just sign him to a contract last year? We missed the playoffs, despite all our loses and injuries we didn't have a good year. This feels like something from the Jerry Jones school.

I'm not saying Harbaugh should be fired. I love John as our coach I really do. Love his post game speeches and his team speeches he's a real leader a great Super Bowl winning coach. But this just feels odd to me. I won't read to much into this. I don't think Harbaughs the type of guy who is so worried about his job security he'd do anything rash like some other coaches. He's a leader of men not someone who needs a pat on the back to tell him its all good.

Biscotti should have extended him after we get back to the playoffs this season.

Bisciotti strategy that cost could be cheaper now that post after a good season.

trust in the ability of Harbough ..

Brian Billick says that Bisciotti is a very, very generous man.

Even a man that made his money with Business decision makes mistakes from time to time.

I really dont see the reasoning behind it at all. I would get it if he didnt just get an extension last yr.

Only in the nfl  and politics that you can F up and get rewarded.

I'm not getting what negative effects you think this could possibly produce.

Why is it a dumb move? Are you not grasping the concept that this a vote of confidence for Harbaugh, his methods and principles?  It's actually a very smart business decision to provide positive reinforcement.

I dont know, i thought his vote of confidence was Harbs getting an extension the yr before.

Brian Billick was fired with that horrid season in 07 so with Harbs still having a job should have been the vote of confidence lol , shouldnt it.  ( and i dont think HARBS should be fired)

I'm not saying it was a dumb move, it feels superfluous and kind of random.

It was one bad year the first bad year Harbaugh's ever had as head coach. If Harbaugh was the type of guy to be worried or insecure about this than that would be cause for alarm. But I don't think he is. This just feels odd an unnecessary and maybe there is more join on than we are being told.

But I'm not saying this is a dumb move. He's a good coach and if the Ravens bounce back and he keep seeing successful he will be our coach for a long time to come.

Rewarding mediocrity is a very Jerry Jones type move. All Biscotti had to do imo was say he understood the process. Harbaugh''s not the type of dude who would be looking over his shoulder worried about his job security. But whatever its done this ultimately isn't a big deal at all its just a little odd.

Billick completely lost control of the locker room and there was no question he needed to go. He wasn't fired because he had a losing season.

Giving Harbs an extension after a season where the Ravens didn't make the [profanity deleted] is an astute business move reinforcing Biscotti's confidence in his HC when some may be questioning his abilities to produce. In other words it's his way of saying that I know the failures of 2013 were out of your control and moving forward, I'm confident you will succeed.

Do you really think last year's mediocrity was the fault of the HC?

Jerry Jones type move?   ;)

I don't allocate blame to one person. We lost a number of key players, than lost even more to injuries. But everyone holds a little bit of culpability.

The Front office for letting Boldin go for nothing. Some of our bad free agent signings. Flacco and some of the other players who underperformed to their usual standard. (Ray Rice was injured I give him more of a pass). And Harbaugh made some bad 4th down calls among other decisions. Thats not to says he didn't make good calls, players didn't make good plays and our Front Office didn't make some good moves too, but when you fall short and don't make th playoffs you got to look at what went wrong.

Moreover, I don't like having an apologists mindset. Its cool for fans or on forum discussions. But this is basically the Jerry Jones mindset making excuses for Romo or Jason Garret etc. even if those excuses are valid at times. The NFL you've just got to man up and do better and learn from your mistakes. Jerry Jones coddles the Cowboys and its why they've sucked for almost 20 years now

I feel like I've already explained where I stand on this, and I simply find it a little odd. But as for last season a Head Coach ultimately is held responsible even for things that weren't directly his fault.

I would agree with the culpability of the HC if this were a Team on a steady and steep decline, but it's pretty obvious it's not.

Agree to disagree.

look my responses may have been a little long winded. All I was really saying was this seems like an odd move and I don't really get it even after hearing Biscotti's explanation.

I understand what went wrong and I'm not really calling out the team outside of one bad offseason move, because they did their darndest to overcome injuries and the valuable players they lost.

I'm not saying Biscotti is Jerry Jones is Jerry Jones far from it. But the move in a vacuum coming of this season is peculiar.
