[News] Ravens Trade For Tampa Bay Offensive Lineman Jeremy Zuttah

OK, here's my two cents. This kid is a lot better than PFF tells everyone so buckle up when you try to include that in your argument. Same thing with Alex Mack and De La Puente, they weren't ever going to happen. I fought that Alex Mack would happen for so long and then I fell in love with Will Montgomery and dropped Mack. Now that we have this guy though, it's even better. We are restructuring his contract so that he's cheaper for the next two years and we might even extend that contract if he so desires so that our offensive line can stay in tact for at least two to three years. The importance of continuity on the offensive line can not be understated. Roethlisberger has had 5 different OL coaches during his career and look what's happened. Haloti Ngata messed up his nose so bad that the doctor that "fixed" it said the bones looks like frosted flakes. That team has also been getting worse and worse as the time goes on and it makes me think that Bill Cowher gave Mike Tomlin a Superbowl squad and said "Get at it." Getting back to Zuttah; he's only 27, he has experience with ZBS during college, he knows Ray Rice and Eugene Monroe personally because he's played with Ray Rice at Rutgers and Eugene Monroe must be his friend from the Jacksonville/Tampa Bay days. Put this man between Yanda and K.O and opposing defenses are going to have a problem. Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce are going to be able to drive trucks through the holes that will be created by these three and Monroe and the new RT, whoever that may be. This is also a reason to be excited for the draft, yes, because every single hole we fill before the draft with effective, solid starters the more Ozzie and Eric can go off. I do believe that we'll draft a RT though. Having a cheap, young, hungry offensive lineman might just be the ticket to the post season. But that could wait until the second round. Aaron Donald anyone?! ANYONE?!

Ozzie you done it again your' the best Gm in the Nfl I think Zuttah is gonna be a beast at center with K.O. & Yanda plus he huge at center is just because he was in Tampa this is going to be a underrated guy this year now on to the Draft guys like Ebron/Mike Evans, Pryor, Lewan one of them is going to make it at 17 trust me all of them can't be gone at 17.

One more thing Ozzie could do is bring in Eric Winston to fix at right tackle and then we will be complete on offensive line then at the draft we could get a playmaker like a Ebron to have 2 tight end sets with pitta or a big 6'5" like Mike Evans or go to defense like a Pryor to match up Elam.

Good move by the FO and it looks more and more likely they'll be drafting for that impact player the O needs and needs badly. If they continue om this course it should please new O/C kubiak immensely.(not to mention Harbs)

pretty good move by the FO :)!

i think this means that we're not gonna go OT in the first round but in the second to solidify the RT-spot. if ebron is still there at #17 i guess we could go for him. would be a pretty nice pickup :)!

I like the pick up and here's why. Jeremy Zuttah can rotate, meaning he's versatile and has also blocked for Rice before. Might not mean a whole lot to some, but that re establishes the mental game for Rice to run since he trusts his blocking. The only negatives I can see some not liking is that it's rumored we lose a 5th round pick in the 2015 draft, but if he's like Monroe, then I believe we did a great thing. I say this was a great pick for our team.

Jeremy Zuttah battled some shoulder injuries in 2013 and had a down year just like every player will have. I went back and looked at him in 2012 when Doug Martin had that best year and I will say my mouth dropped the guy is a beast he really remind you of K.O with that aggressive play to whistle attitude. It's plenty of film on him in that year at LG and Center although he's a good guard but center is his natural position because he played a lot better at center but he was good at guard as well. GO TO YOUTUBE AND TYPE IN........DOUG MARTIN 2012 HIGHLIGHTS. It's the first video its 7:15 check him out number he's 76.

MAY SOUND crazy but I would rather move up and get some more picks for my pick, then get two more FA and then take a high pick or am I crazy?

Regardless of what people may think of Zuttah, he's a proven upgrade and his versatility will be handy. Awesome pickup.

From the Sun: "He graded out as the 22nd-ranked center in the NFL last year, according to Pro Football Focus, and did not allow a sack all season. However, he became expendable when the Buccaneers signed free-agent center Evan Dietrich-Smith, formerly of the Green Bay Packers. "

Hope he works out. Can breathe a sigh of relief that Gradkowski won't be out there. Leaves WR and opens the door for speculation on Calvin Pryor over a first round Ebron, Lee or Cooks. Early season the bobbleheads predicted Oz would not pick another safety in rd one but I think that may have been premature. Since Oz has deep reservations about WR's in the early rounds and success with Pitta in the middle and Torrey in the second I would not be surprised to be a complete update on their needs forthcoming. Sure another tackle. But now a DE can be moved up the ladder and even a ILB or NT. This is a good move given the circumstances. Hey Zuttah gave up no sacks. That's is the best news yet.

This is unlink Ozzie, to be in a position to have to plug so many holes via trade and losing draft picks in the process. This is indicative of some poor drafts over the last several years, and the Zuttah signing is the most glaring case in point. We are replacing a very poor center who was drafted too high for a merely below-average center, and have to lose a pick in the process. Hope some folks are being held accountable in the scouting department for getting the team in this predicament.

I agree we have had our fair share of let downs the past 3 years from guys drafted in the top 3 rounds but Ozzie has found some real gems in the later rounds to make up for it. You have to remember just because they go in a high round they can't all be stars. I think we have more success in the draft than most.

Moved to Fla a little over a year ago from Md. Have seen a fair amount of Tampa's games. As usual Ozzie has found another very good player who will help the offensive line, without much sacrifice. Way to go OZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hard to believe so many true Ravens fans after one off year can even begin to question Ozzie and their process. I guess you guys are all much more successful in life!!! Which teams do you guys own!!!!

Poor drafts? It's easy to emphasize frustrations from draft picks not developing but you got to realize all the draft picks who moved on to other teams for big pay days. Art Jones being the latest.

I don't think MLB is realistic, because we just re-signed Smith for like 3 years and traded up to get Arthur Brown last draft. I don't think thats a position we will consider drafting in the early rounds.

Defensive line makes a little sense, although basically the same thing that applies with Arthur Brown also applies to Brandon Wililams, and our team likes the idea of a rotation of defensive lineman based on down and distance anyway, so I don't consider that likely in an early round either.

I'd consider FS, pass catcher, and offensive line (in some order) to basically be our first three picks in this draft.

Gradkowski is being replaced because he's too small and not very good, fact.

You are aware that the difference between Zuttah and Gradkowski is 1 inch and 8 pounds correct?

Yes and apparently 1 inch and 8 pounds goes a long way.

Well, we don't really know that, because he hasn't taken a snap for us yet.

If he gets beat out by Gino for the job in training camp, then apparently it doesn't go far enough.
