[News] Ravens Trade For Tampa Bay Offensive Lineman Jeremy Zuttah

310 posts in this topic

Hmm... never heard of him either, but again I haven't heard of too many non probowl caliber non-Ravens players either. I wonder what he graded out at Center last year? Hopefully somebody can post it for our benefit.

Bobby Rainey Exploded Running behind Zuttah, 3 TD'S in 1 game and almost 200 yards on the ground. Lol

Yes that's right!I hated the fact that we let Bobby Rainey go too.... it was really a case of sour grapes on my part.

And he had less than 100 yards combined in his last 3 games... running behind the same center.

Not a good example.

Rainey started splitting carries. That could be and is the reason why.

We basically lost Rainey to Keep Trawick. I don't think any team would have taken Trawick off the practice squad.

No, not really. He also went 18 carries for 35 yards in his second week as the lead back, which was the week after the big week you were talking about. He played seven weeks as the lead back in that offense, where he got the majority of the carries.

He had two weeks where he was very good, and five weeks where he was very pedestrian or worse.

Essentially, anytime he played a above average run defense, he and the Buccaneers themselves struggled heavily to run the ball. Its not a coincidence that he crushed Atlanta and Buffalo, but struggled heavily against Detroit, SF, STL, NO and Carolina

Right player for the right system, can't put any O-lineman in and assume it will all work out . We need chemistry and men who can work off one another's skills like a Spartan Wall. I trust the coaching staff and especially Ozzie, if he can help bring that attitude I'm good. Lets get this kid working. RAVENS!

Also He might be way cheaper than other free agents . Cheaper and Better is the way to go OZ

Hey this guy is an upgrade from what we had right at ozzies price. Now we have 3 guys who will battle it out in camp may the best man win. That 1st round pick is looking more and more like Eric Ebron every day.

I agree with your assessment, but I hope your not implying that Zuttah is not very good. I think he is one of the pieces we were missing last year.

I really believe he going to be a great player here in Baltimore. Welcome Zuttah you going to be a dominant center for us Ozzie great pick up.

This is a great trade and it gives us a lot of flexibility in the draft. The biggest problem with our oline was that gradkowski and shipley were too small. Specifically shipley more than gradkowski. I think gradkowski can still be a good player or at least a solid backup. With KO coming back and now getting zuttah i think we can have a pretty good line this year

He appears to be an upgrade on what we have currently. Other than that, we don't really know anything about him. He could struggle, and we have no idea. Heck, he could get beat out for the job in training camp by Gino.

The point is... you shouldn't be sitting here saying that he was the reason Rainey exploded, because he wasn't. As is the case with every offensive line, there's pretty much no one player who will make or break it. We had a pretty good LT and RG on this team last season, and nobody noticed, because the O-line was bad.

He simply appears to be an upgrade at this time, but we really don't know anything else beyond that.

Now i can say FA has been a solid one, 6-4 308 brings great size to the center position, and the fact he has so many starts, at Center, Guard makes our O-line better, and Center is where he needs to play....relieved we found a center...Now can we trade Castillo for a 100th pick, we will take any pick for him...

great trade. but are we all forgeting that alex mack is out there. we should try to get him to then #Best-O-Line

Mack has always been a pipe dream. He's way too expensive. I'm quite sure Ozzie never seriously considered him. Far out of our price range.

Let's not forget that we have the "almighty" Juan Castillo as our OL coach. If he can do his job correctly this time, we should have a solid offensive line (and I think we know what happens when Joe has time in the pocket).

Good move, if it is indeed for a 5th round draft pick. We'll probably get that back in a compensatory pick next year and a new long term contract is a nice plus too.

Ebron and Evans will be gone when we pick. Zuttah is either ranked 22nd or 24th depending on who is doing the ranking. Think about it, the guy didn't allow a sack and is rated that low. Means he is a good pass blocker but can't be much of a run blocker. Instead of being aggressive in free agency, we settled for a safety and a center who is run of the mill and we are cheering like we signed De LaPuente and Jarius Byrd. For those that are so happy, get ready to be disappointed. Both may or may not be better than what we have and are just competing for jobs, unlike De LaPuente and Byrd who are legitimate starters. Sorry, but I can't get excited by someone who ranks in the bottom 30% of centers in the league. The site can sell you a pig in a poke, after all it is the Ravens site, but ranking slightly higher than Gradkowski doesn't make you good, just makes you better than Gradkowski.

They said he had a down year because of some shoulder injuries. But even at 22nd rank he is still an upgrade to Gino at 35 so I'm happy.

The best thing about this move is it shuts fans up about about getting Alex Mack. I dont really get this move though. Sending a draft pick and picking up a 4.25 mil cap hit for a below average center. Why not save a pick and sign 28 yr old De La Puente? As much as i love Ozzie he always has one move every year that makes me scratch my head.

I like this move. It's an instant upgrade and he will fit what Kubiak does. Bucs fans only have positive things to say.

Great pick up Ozzie!!! I was looking at what college he went to, and I was glad he went to Rutgers. He is coming into a tough guy division, or the re-emerging of the toughest guys division, and we don't need any softies. I don't think Gino was soft just not physically strong enough to hang. After watching ESPN's 30 for 30's Requiem for the Big East I realized there is no SUCKAS from the north east!!! So hopefully he can add to that nastiness of Bmore Ravens' O line, as Eugene Munroe described KO. Oh and we all know the great Marshal Yanda is also a Chief in nasty maulers of the O line blood lines. Lol
