[News] Ravens Trade For Tampa Bay Offensive Lineman Jeremy Zuttah

310 posts in this topic

Wow, I certainly did not foresee Ozzie trading for a Center. I would love for the article to give us a reason Tampa Bay may have traded him. Was he too expensive for them? Do they have a backup they feel is ready to step up? I have to say I am happy that Ozzie is making moves to improve the o-line, although I would love for us to be dominant at the o-line and I am not sure this trade quite gets us there, but I am sure Ozzie is not done just yet.

This is actually a very good pick up guys. I remember really liking him back when he was in college and he extremely athletic. We now can do any number of things. We can put Kelechi Osemele at right tackle and Zuttah at left guard, or switch them. Would could even possibly put Zuttah at center and give one of our young guys a shot at tackle or guard.

How does he not give up any sacks for 2 years and only get ranked 22nd and 24th?

harder to quantify the performance of OLs, not much to count, so rankings only mean so much to begin with when it comes to these types of positions. Aside from the clear cut top and bottom 5, i generally consider everybody else on the list to be more or less interchangeable; that's usually not too far from the truth.

Hey, an upgrade is an upgrade. As long as its not Gino, right? We solved the center position by giving up practically nothing. A again Ozzie. Keep it going.

anyone thinking this guy is playing anywhere but starting at center next season is crazy.

Yea I don't see this guy playing LG and especially not RT. This is our new center guys. And that's a good thing.

This is a good trade, he is better than any 6th or 7th rounder we would get with the pick we are going to give

i think this could cost us up to a 5th depending on the kind of play and play time we get out of him, but youre generally right.

Remember how Ozzie does it. Since the Ravens are going to get Comp picks next season for the free agents it lost this year, he can make this trade because he will get the pick right back. It's the same thing he did with Monroe. Tomorrow when the NFL announce the Comp picks, Ozzie will receive his four and the three picks we gave up for players from the previous year we will get back. Smart moves and great front office. Not perfect but great.

great trade. but are we all forgeting that alex mack is out there. we should try to get him to then #Best-O-Line

1. We clearly can't afford him.

2. He's not really "out there". We couldn't sign him without Cleveland allowing us to sign him, which would seem like a slim-to-none proposition.

3. Any even vague interest we had in acquiring Mack is completely gone with this trade in my opinion.

nah we shouldnt, thats overkill. we dont need the best center in the league to win. done plenty of that without anything that's even come close up to this point.

I understand and agree with that. Evidently he is very good in pass protection, so I can only wonder if he lacks in the run game. Other wise I would expect more like a top 10 ranking with giving up ZERO sacks!

Hmm... never heard of him either, but again I haven't heard of too many non probowl caliber non-Ravens players either. I wonder what he graded out at Center last year? Hopefully somebody can post it for our benefit.

Veteran competition for Gino and a LG candidate. It gives us some flexibility going into the draft and is probably for a late rounder in 2015 which we will probably not have to worry about with Art Jones, Corey Graham, and Oher going in FA this year as well as Ihedigbo if he leaves as well giving us comp picks. I like the move

Don't get it twisted he is here to play center and in a interview just now with aaron wilson he said he wants to play center so leave him there he also has a 82 on madden at C.

He is a great run blocker. His Motor never stops and gets to the 2nd level with no problem. Bobby Rainey exploded running behind Zuttah. Rainey almost had 200 yards in 1 game and3 TD'S in 1 game running behind him. We were just blessed with a great player.

Athletic, smart and great mover, but he's not really stout though from what Ive read, he gets skated back to the QB which is kind of the thing we're trying to avoid.
