I would have preferred something along the lines of a 6th, but apparently a lot of other teams were very interested in him as well.  if the 5th is what it took to get done, so be it.

Yeah, I agree. I guess not much we can do about it if there was heavy interest. Just kind of bummed that we had to give up a 5th. I feel like that's Ozzie's round on project players with upside.

Looks like drafting an O-linesman in the first round is off the table; I'm happy with that.

AQ Shipley and Jah Reid are not long for this team.

Because he can play both center and guard, I suspect Shipley might be kept around for depth until Wagner or Jensen show they can actually play in the NFL. Shipley isnt great but we had someone to throw out there when KO went down. I doubt Gino is going to be as good at guard and will likely become the backup center unless Jensen displaces him. I think the writing on the wall is probably there for Jah Reid who was already on the wrong side of the bubble before his legal issues.

Said on Facebook he was ranked as the 22nd best sooooooo meh?

There's some upside, he's probably a better scheme fit here.

He should have more confidence because there is a bigger margin for error when you play with pro bowlers. Since their line was so bad, is 22nd out of 35 centers accurate? i mean he didn't give up a sack, correct? He could be a lot better this year.

I agree.... Sometimes even talented guys play to the lower level thats around them. So hopefully the leaders in B more lift him to his potential and maybe be a pro bowler in the future.

That's hard to watch.  Still can't believe no flag. If that had been tommy they probably would have suspended the guy.

Actually it would've been a life sentence in prison

40 Yrd Dash in 4,99 sec

35 reps on the bench press

26,5 inch vertical

20 Yrd Dash in 4,54 sec

3-Cone drill in 7,59 sec

He does seem to fit what Castillo/Kubiak want to do with the Ravens OL.

We've actually experienced that fairly recently in Baltimore - Jason Brown started a ton of games for us, including all of 2008 at center after Mike Flynn left, and everyone was ticked that he left for the Rams in FA.  3 years later he's released by the Rams, hasn't played in the NFL since.

So I'm learning. I had no idea Gino was 35th. Woof.

Oh nice!

This isn't a big name signing but a signing that people may hate now because he isn't Alex Mack but when our o-line improves, nobody will be hating this trade.

That still remains to be seen to me in "real-game" situations.  I'll wait until then to get all excited and hyped up JO.

This is how I see it. I've said for a while Gino could play LG if we decided to get a veteran center. Granted, I think we may still address the position in the draft, I just feel like Gino may be playing LG next year. It's a possibility. Furthermore, I want KO at RT. I feel it would be best for his back and reduce injuries due to his height and playing low. With this move, we could just need a LG and there are quite a few tantalizing prospects in this draft that give me hope.

We've had this talk in the Draft forum. I think anyone who can pancake JJ Watt has a place in the league. I see Gino as either a LG or a sixth man of sorts who can slide in when someone inevitably gets hurt. Maybe we draft another LG (say, Martin, with an eye for sliding him across if Monroe goes down) who competes with Gino for that spot, while KO and Wagner fight for RT.

I still think we draft one or two guys, but I like how the puzzle's beginning to look at this point. I know we're not competing for the best with Denver or NE, but even an average o-line excites me at this point.

Yeah. Compared to what we had to deal with, Zuttah is a godsend.

As I already said, I like this trade but I'm in a wait and see mode to see who earns the 3 starting spots up for grabs before gushing over the guy. You do realize the game you mentioned as an example was against the Atlanta Falcons' 31st ranked run defense right? Rainey's only other 100+ yard rushing game came against the 28th ranked Buffalo Bills' run defense. I have high hopes for Zuttah and our line too but not a particularly good example. Its sort of like how Rice had the terrible year he had but put up over 100 yards against a terrible Bears' run defense...

We managed 24 yards in total against that terrible Bills run defence!

I seem to remember hoping a strong outing against that weak Bills run defence would be just what the doctor ordered for Ray Rice. Yeah, didn't seem to work out that well...

He should have been drawn and quartered, fined AND suspended! It's always ugly when we playin Detroit.

That's actually true.  The double standard of protection among some QBs is just ridiculous.  Even darlings like Matt Ryan don't get that kind of protection, and him and Joe are both pocket QBs who should be afforded that like Brady and Manning are.

So I'm learning. I had no idea Gino was 35th. Woof.

He was truly awful.  That's why I couldn't get with the status quo crowd at all.  Sure he improved somewhat, but polishing a Waste products doesn't change the fact that it's a Waste products.

I don't think the guy was intentionally going for his knee, he kind of fell through the line. Probably surprised no one was there to block him!

Intentional or not, no question it should have been an automatic 15, just like the helmet to helmet thing.

Monroe-KO-Zuttah-Yanda-???

Ok... I can live with this.

I'd go get Winston at this point. Solidify the line and do whatever the hell you want in the draft.

To be fair, it's a WR screen. Gino was doing his job, which is to get to the outside to set up a downfield block. He can't go past the LOS until the receiver has the ball. Rice whiffed on the block that got Joe hit. He should have stepped up into the pocket and take on the defender.

NO. He's not Alex Mack, and no, he isn't even ranked in the NFL top ten, but he will certainly be a lot better then Gradkowski. Gino might be a very nice guy, but he is not at all suited to be a starting center on a Super Bowl winning team. They could have replaced him with the flying nun, and that would be OK with me. Gradkowski spent more time on his back last year than Obama did on the golf course. At least Oz saw everything that the fans saw last year, and let Oher leave, and has now replaced Gradkowski. These two moves will undoubtedly be a God send to Yanda. Now, he only has to be responsible for his position, and not have to block three guys.

Winston would be a great fit now. If we got Winston we would have the flexibility to pick a later-round OT to develop under him.

Suggs got penalized and fined for less against Brady.

Remember this is Center.  It's not like were getting a new Quarterback.  While Alex Mack would've given us a stacked offensive line, it's only the center position.  I've never seen a team win the Super Bowl because they had an awesome center.

A 4.5 million a year guy who plays consistently, is young, and has experience is the most we could ask for.  Why invest upwards of 7+ million when you could use that kind of money on a more important position.

So glad to hear this news. First outside addition to our OL and he is a probable starter and upgrade.
