I would like to add that prior to his signing who would get in the face of Rice, Reid and Thompson after embarrassing the team. No one. Guess who will be jawing at those three come the first day of practice and not give a crap about what their lame excuses are. Harbaugh made sure the loud locker room vets were eliminated, Ozzie reinstated the old locker room by signing Smith. Do you think Edelman could be signed with what we had left in cap space? Those rumors were to keep Smiths feet to the fire. It worked. In Ozzie We Trust, at least some of us.

Torrey, Daryl, and now Steve...we're gonna need first initials on jerseys again! Not that I'm complaining! Welcome to Baltimore!

you guys realize players improve right we dont have to spend all this money for mack Gino only had one full season as starter. he can get better and be a decent center. give him a chance

Gino was getting trampled by blitzes but, more importantly, he wasn't recognizing them and setting the correct blocking schemes!

He'll be a fine Center,... just not yet!

He  needs to season some more!

This is good news. Now that we re-signed Daryl and picked up Steve we can focus on our oline and db's come draft time. Iwwouldn't mind having a wr but thats not important right now. I think the front office will take a top cb if they sit but if they trade down like I think they will we can make all kinds of moves. Darqueze Dennard, Marcus Martin, Travis Swanson, Brandin Cooks, Jimmie Ward, Daniel McCullers, Kareem Martin, Dion Bailey, etc. Hey if we can come out with a few of these guys we will be straight.

All that talk about him being a "distraction" or whatever over on nflcom just kind of evaporates from my mind due to one fact: Mr Ozzie Newsome just signed the man

... and, my fellow Ravens-fans, just think about how much this signing may mean to our young receivers, like Brown, Mellette, Thompson and the ones we may draft in May... If there was something they were missing, it was a real veteran mentor - like Boldin for Torrey. Now they have one. I'm more than sure even Torrey will learn a lot from Steve Smith, just imagine how much the young ones are gonna learn...

Agreed it will be helpful for the young guys to have a veteran, but do you think we will draft  a one or two and if so when? I betting it will be later then most have been saying, my guess is with their third or fourth pick. The other question is what about the holes in the  o line?

Well I guess we're stuck with him now... Just hope he can stay healthy and not be the distraction that everyone in Carolina said he was becoming. So much for getting a player for the future...

Exactly the same thing that was said about Mason...that worked out well for the Ravens.

Everyone but you knows that the Ravens have a lot of players "...of the future..." but not a mentor.  Now they do.

This just out on API.... Joe Flacco, Ray Rice, Marshall Yanda, Eugene Monroe, Kelechi Osemele and Dennis Pitta have changed their last names to Smith. Rumor has it they want the ball to always be in "Smith's" hands. That way the defense will never know which Smith's hands the ball will be in....

Looks like you were right about your boy Steve. Seems like Harbaugh has been put on a bit of a leash.

Best thing about Smith is you know he's going to do everything he can to just win a ring at the end of his career. He's animated and he'll be like Ray Lewis, demand greatness from the offense it it ain't good enough!

Reminiscent of the Lewis's.  Ray, Jamal, Jermaine and Marvin.  Hope for similar results.

Pretty sure 89 is available.

Available?  Or did they just throw the number away?

Now it will be our pleasure to watch another "old" WR (Mason, Boldin, Smith) who will be another tough-as-nails 30-something!

A guy who spends more than 10 seasons with one organization can't be too much of a problem... Guys  with real issues usually wander around from city to city - see TO or Randy Moss... This guy has spent all his career so far the same place - that must say a lot about how tolerable he is...

On paper this offense is dynamic. We could use one more slot receiver via FA or draft, a big sure handed guy that can get a jumpball. Im excited!

Seems like a good guy.....never seen him so calm.....usually just see the roundly highlights on NFL network......can't wait to see this offense......Steve , Torrey , Jacoby, Pitta , Marlon, Juszyck, Ray ,and Joe Cool......sounded pretty dangerous

I just hope most of you guys are right. I am not as sold on this signing. He will be 38 at the end of his 3 year contract. I just don't know many 35 year old WR that are still elite in the NFL. 35 at WR is considered a age for retirement. I hope Smith works out.

Flacco after this draft when we get a Mike/Ebron one of them you will have a lot of playmakers to throw to what I like about it is a mixture of veterans and young wrs i don't know who to throw to 101
