Might be 35 but plays like he's a lot younger. Stays in great shape and plays football like it should be. Great signing Ozzie keep up the good work..... Welcome to the Ravens, Steve.

Former Carolina Panthers fan here.  The day they booted Steve, they lost me.  The day you signed him, you gained me as a fan.  GO RAVENS!  Now, I just need to learn all I can about you guys.

You will never ever regret signing Steve.  He has the heart of a lion and like a gazelle on the field.  He catches balls that are uncatchable and has never really had a great quarterback to receive from.

Welcome aboard. You found the best site for Ravens news and opinions.

Great signing for the Ravens - Smith was playing alongside the likes of Brandon LaFell and still put up respectable numbers - now he has Torrey, Jacoby, Marlon, and Dennis that teams have to be worried about. And this gives me a bit more hope that if we draft one of those raw receivers like Mike Evans, that guy won't have the kind of pressure on him like a lot of rookies do and we can ease him in to the system. Smith isn't a long-term solution, but he's a great short term answer and fills a pretty big hole for the next few seasons.

Now I really hope we go out there and sign a veteran center that can potentially start for us next year.

The Ravens top 4 receivers all have the most common last names (Smith, Jones, Brown). This will be a very confusing season on offense.

That's best news I've heard all day! Welcome to Baltimore. Does anyone know how much cap room we have left? Could we realistically go after Alex Mach still, or no?

S.S. I have always been a fan!!! - Welcome to Ravens Nation! Flacco has a serious arsenal now. Two Smiths, Jones, Pitta, Rice and Pierce have got to put fear into anyone we play!! Coach K must be doing backflips! Way to go Ozzy, I can see "Dynasty" from here! Woo Hoo!!!!

Dude has played like a Raven for years. A very welcome addition but I'm interested to see the cap implication for this year to see if we can still make a run at Mack and potentially Clemons or another outside WR on the cheap with high upside like Britt or Holmes.

Great signing! Now let's get a Center. All the good FS are gone so we might have to address that position in the draft.

#1 priority now should be Alex Mack/C!!! :-)

TBH, I don't think Ozzie was seriously considering him ever. Too expensive. There are cheaper alternatives available - not as good as Mack, but good enough to give Gradkowski competition.

And we still have to find a RT (assuming Oher walks - we don't know yet) and a FS. Both positions could be filled from within the house of course...

And don't forget that we'll also have to contract the rookies - that must be crammed under the cap limit, too.

So, i think Mack will stay put in Cleveland :(

I don't think that there is one single team in the league that has done as well, comparatively to Baltimore in free agency. Definitely tough to see 97 go to Indy, but that is what it is. Couldn't over pay that guy, but good for him. Man, looking at other teams like the Jets, the Browns, and even the Pats, they missed the wagon. Last years free agency was a bit painful, but man have they made some brilliant moves this year. Still voids to be addressed, but this is a rip-roaring start to what will hopefully be a righteous year.

I'm sure this is the guy that Ozzie had in mind when he said that he wanted a possession-type receiver in free agency. He is a lot like Mason and Q. A security blanket for Flacco when the deep men are covered. I see him making a lot of catches for us this year. Welcome to the Ravens, sir.

best free agent signings are your own players. Monroe, Pitta , Jones , Smith & Miles and Steve Smith is just an extra. Great job Ozzie.

Flacco has a lot of targets T.Smith, S.Smith, M.Brown, J.Jones, A.Mellette and D.Pitta and whoever we pick up in the draft. Not to mention a new offensive philosophy with Kubiak.

Well that raps up our free agency and i couldn't be happier. I'm gonna try and contain my temper towards fans talking about signing Mack as much as i can by leaving with these words. Salary Cap!
