Ravens Game from the Vault: '96-'97, Oakland Raiders vs. Baltimore Ravens (FIRST GAME IN TEAM HISTORY)

12 posts in this topic

Yes, this is the entire game in its original recording (with the commercials intact)! And, yes; it looks like it was filmed with a toaster!

Hi! I just found this game on YouTube (and, ironically, it was just uploaded the other day) and I thought, "Why not use this to start a new series on these forums to help built our community?"

NOTE: The idea is to NOT spam this thread with links to old Ravens game, right-off-the-bat. I want to promote just ONE game (like the 1996 game between Oakland and Baltimore, used here) for a set period of time (Maybe a week?); that way, we can tell stories, memories, etc. for these old games while also allowing enough time for everyone to see it and comment about it. THEN, after a week (or whatever), I'll change the topic title and we'll watch another game from the franchise's history. I'm also willing to take suggestions, too, for future games. Make sure there is a link to actual game, though, on YouTube (or a similar site).

So, with that, here's the first game in Ravens history in its entirety! Enjoy!

NOTE #2: Mods, please move this thread if it has been placed in the wrong section. I thought the off-topic forum fit best, as it has nothing to do with the current day Ravens. Thanks!

Please note that the game will probably be taken down. The NFL is pretty strict about that.

I wont tell if you dont tell.

They really need to find a way to make stuff more available, like an NFL Netflix.

I don't see a good reason for why they would take it down. It's great for us fans to watch, and I think everybody knows that it belongs to the NFL. It's not like they could confuse it with some other sport.

Oh okay, Goodell, it's because you don't make any money off of it? Gotcha.

I am computer literate.

Is there a way I can save this to CD or to my computer so I can watch it on my TV ?

You nailed it. Although they could sell the game footage on DVDs or something and the TV networks and NFL would make a killing.

The best they offer is just streaming (not owning) to your computer.

I saw it and it was a lot of raw footage from various networks to start.  I begged for a ticket to the game on an early website and got some offers around $50, watched the last pre season game and heard that they released some tickets and immediately called Ticketmaster phone charge and purchased one where it was around $30 including fees in the open endzone.  Went to the game and there was some sour grapes protesting from the Baltimore Browns Backers, heard that Southwest Flights from Cleveland to Baltimore were doing a brisk business that weekend.  But enjoyed the pregame festivities inside where they gave many of the old Colt greats special jackets that said Ravens on the back and former Colt on front.  One of the historic moments in Baltimore football history that day.
