Steve Smith a Raven!

384 posts in this topic

I love Steve Smith too, but don't expect him to be amazing. Its a pretty nice pick up because its exactly what we needed(a WR), but i just don't see him at the end of his career being the Steve Smith he use to be. By that I mean all pro player. He will move the chains though, and that's good enough for me ha

My conclusion from what i've read from Panther forum is that he can still be 2012 Steve Smith because Chud used him a lot more than Shula did and he was injured. We all know Kubes will get the most of him like Chud so yeah he could also be better than you expect too.

steve smith is a great player. great players remain relevent until they retire. ( see rod woodson etc)

smith is going to make us better but we have a long way to go before we can say this team is good enough to get to the Super Bowl. The roster needs upgrades big time

Anyone who wants his jersey, it's now available on the team store. I'm just surprised the back of the jersey says Smith and not S. Smith or something. Just so people don't get confused lol.

And I hope is does better than I think he will, I like steve smith, and I love the ravens, so why wouldnt I want him to succeed? all I was saying is, he isnt the best sign/re-sign this off-season so far

Well, he fills a hole that we had, and fills it well. Maybe not the best sign/resign, but still a solid addition.

I think the number is enough to avoid confusion

"Smith has specified that he wants to go by Steve Smith, Sr. next season. He and his wife are expecting a son this summer, who Smith plans to name Steve Smith Jr. He has filed paperwork to the NFL to have his nameplate read "Smith Sr." next season."

I wonder how rare it is for NFL jersey's to read "Sr." at the end.  Can you imagine Ray wearing "Lewis Sr." on the back of his jersey.  Though thinking about it, he would be "Lewis Jr" anyway.

Only If there were 2 smiths with number 89, there would be a problem.

I hope someone films the first moment of Steve Smith and Joe Flacco meeting each other in person and shacking hands. I'm a bit corny I guess, but I love those kind of moments.

I didn't underline it cause it...like the above statement of yours was a "back-handed" compliment of Smith.  LOL!!

Smith is a competitor!  A veteran WR that can run routes, get separation, catch and get YAC afterwards.  He also has a solid work ethic!  He is someone that Torrey, Jacoby and Brown can learn from and improve their own personal game.  I expect good things from Smith now that he is a Raven.  He has a chip on his shoulders and I like that!

I just heard S. Smith for the first time on Mike and Mike this morning.  All I can say is that he is one "classy guy".   I was skeptical of the pick with his age but I now think he will use his head to counter any lack of speed he has lost.  Seems like he will be a good possession receiver for Flacco.

I'd keep the expectations low... I'd be very happy if say he could put a year or two together like DMASE, the best WR we've ever had ( at least worked best in our system).

The only instance I ever recall it

Ravens are now my second team :)

Go get Agent#89 a ring! I am really excited to see the fire from Smitty this season

welcome! anytime we can get more fans, the better! although Smith no longer see's himself as a Number 1, but a contrubting factor, his impact willbe felt throughout the field!

Maybe we can convince you to make us your first...at least in the AFC.

Speed is what Torrey and Jacoby are for.  Steve Smith brings his toughness, grit, scrappiness, and ability to get separation and make plays to the table!  Now, I just hope that he and Flacco and get on the same page quickly before the season begins!

Lived in Charlotte for 5 years and got to watch Steve up-close. Was thinking then, "This dude makes me miss my Ravens home games." He truly played like a Raven. I couldn't be happier that he is now a Raven. He belongs here. My prediction: 1000+ receiving yds. & 75+ receptions. If he can do that with Delhomme - he can better that with us. Watch this space...
