[News] Late For Work 3/13: Ravens Monitor As WR Market Heats Up

149 posts in this topic

Still feel like Mack is the guy we should be after. I trust our FO to do whatever they think is best, but am I the only one that feels like even our talented-but-unreliable receiving corps would be 10x better with a dominant running game, and an upright Flacco?

We can draft a talented WR, and probably find some immediate safety help in the draft -- But I feel like Torrey could keep our guys moving in the right direction, especially with Pitta back. But to take the cap space that we have, and have a nasty O-line for the next 3-5 years? Yes please.

I don't care if his stats declined after being sent to the jets.I don't care if he had a serious injury 2 years ago.I don't care if he is an ex steeler.I don't care if I get negged for saying this.We need to sign Santonio Holmes! We need to sign him or at the very least give him an interview and a physical. He defines the words "clutch" and "playmaker".

Sign Daryl Smith right now. 3 year deal would sound about perfect for the veteran. Ozzie needs to get it done.

for how much because jon beason a player that is worse than daryl just got 3 years 19 million. so 3 years 25 to 28 million not happening. but i've seen crazier things.

But he's just not a very good football player anymore. It would be hard for anybody to even identify a valuable skill set he brings to a team currently.

I agree if we could some how get Mack from Cleveland WOW would we have an oline. Please sign D. Smith Denver will snatch him if not and he could go because he wants a chance for ring as well as money. He has tasted winning and wants more. Come on Ozzie.

I am usually against signing older players but just Steve Smith is interesting.... He was still putting up 1000 yard seasons before last season. And the Carolina offense isn't flashy at all... I think he would be a good pick up in the slot if he stayed healthy. But it would be nice if the Ravens worked him out to just see how good of condition he is in. For the majority of his career he has been relatively healthy. I just do not want another Brandon Stokley 2013....

3 years for 20 wouldn't be bad if he would agree to that. But I doubt it will happen the way this free agency is already going. Maybe he will give a discount if Jacoby gives him sweet pea's number.

Jon Beason is not a worse player than Smith. He went through a stretch of injuries and bad luck in Carolina for a while but when healthy he's a perennial probowler. He's also a couple years younger than Smith.

I am so disappointed that Webb is moving his charity softball game away from Ripkin stadium. I went last year, really enjoyed it and was looking forward to it this year. I don't like driving into Baltimore so I guess I won't be going. :-(

I would take Edelman or Smith in that order. Also maybe look into Carlos Rodgers to replace Graham. Wonder if Jim would put in a good word for him ?

Lets just ink on Gorrer, big CB who played well for us, and played well in Tampa in the shadows of over-rated Revis...

Steve Smith was injured last year and his numbers were still almost as good as Boldin's the year we won the super bowl. Guy can still play! Pick him up for cheap since he's kind of old anyway, and then we'll have enough money to go for Mack.

I have to agree with Hensley. JJ is an explosive play maker. If he's in the game, something big is going to happen. To have a guy that can win you games when your offense is being stuffed, is massively important.

I highly doubt that the Ravens sign Edelman but I could be wrong. But he is probably going to command a very high contract. I think Steve Smith may come around 3-4 million a year and may give the edge to a team like the Ravens because they are a play off contender almost every year. I doubt he would go to a team like the Raiders or Jacksonville

I can't see the Ravens signing Steve Smith, even though I think he's what the Ravens need offensively (A tough as nails Anquan Boldin type player) He's to much of a fiery guy. Harbaugh doesn't want that kind of player, because he will challenge him.

What is up with you bashing Harbaugh? Nobody is challenging him. The Ravens thought Boldin was not worth the 6 million and that cap helped save the defense last season. Plus it helped get Arthur brown. If you could get Steve Smith for 4-5 million a year or Boldin for 6 million I would take Smith.... Nothing against Boldin but Smith can still also play at a high level and cap is so important you do not know how far 2 million can go to save a player.

IF we can get Steve Smith and Mack in FA, then our first round pick can be a playmaking free safety or a right tackle. Think about how amazing that would be, especially since this draft is deep when it comes to receivers. Pick one up later and fix the important holes first!

Edleman, Nicks, Jones, Rice, Miles, all made of glass...LaFell might have the most upside, as we looked at him hard during that years draft...

No issue Webb playing FS, has the range, and is one of the most under-rated tackling CB's in the league....

Why isn't Bernard Pollard still there who was more productive than both Idhedigbo and Elam. Hell Ed Reed even made more plays then they did when he went to the Jets. Between Smith & Boldin, who had the more productive season? 2 million brought in to bums last year Spears and Huff.
