[News] Ravens Re-Sign Tackle Eugene Monroe

Great signing, now hope Ravens can re-sign greedy Daryl Smith, sign Golden Tate and Chris Clemens and a center and then draft the last needs and then this team is ready to make a run for the playoff where Ravens was missed last year.

I don't see us making a big splash in free agency, if we do go after a receiver i'm hoping for either Golden Tate or Andre Roberts. My guess is the FO is looking at the draft and Daryl Smith right now, not much else.

I know its a dream scenario but if Ozzie pulls a rabbit out of the hat and sign Jarius Byred that would be crazy. I would like Chris Clemons if that dream does not happen.

reggie mckenzie is going to waste that $60 million cap space and set the raiders back for even more years to come. imagine what our front office could do with $60 million in cap space

the beauty with this deal is that Monroe could very well be here for the full 5 years.

A team / player friendly contact imagine that what a concept. Best front office in all of sports.

Notice that a key component of Monroe's description is "...high-character guy..."? It tells me that there are players around who have the physical, mental and character tools to help the Ravens succeed.

We just happened to have one in-house already!

Great job to both sides!

I know Monroe is a Solid Left Tackle but is he a Pancake Blocker and Mauler or just a good technician? I didn't see Monroe put anybody on their back pockets last year but he was very good.

Adam Schefter‏@AdamSchefter Bills free-agent S Jairus Byrd is on his way to New Orleans to visit the Saints, per source.

Not sure how a team with such significant cap issues can be entertaining an FA who is going to be among the most expensive FAs available.

Absolutely, this isn't time to totally declare victory, but it is a huge step. Had we not gotten this deal in place, there would be a giant question mark at perhaps the most critical O line position.

I fully expect us to address the question mark at center via FA and address some of the depth issues in the draft.

What a relief! Good contract, too. Now, if we can pick up Martin in the draft, although we might have to trade up in order to do it, our OL will be progressing nicely.

We just did by inking a deal with the highest ranked FA on the market.

... we just signed the #1 LT on the market at a price less than the #2 LT on the market (Albert) and less than the #4 LT on the market (Saffold).

Enough said.

Great news. I'm happy he and the Ravens worked it out. Now.....on to Daryl Smith.

Hey NCMan... Is Hell about to freeze over ? You never post anything positive. :bye:

Eugene Monroe is the splash that I was waiting for. Get in the pool the water is fine!

Great job protecting the blind side, Ravens. This will pay off. We got him at a great price and this will help free us up to go in another direction in the draft, too.
