Ravens Re-sign LT Eugene Monroe - 5 Years

215 posts in this topic

Eric Winston is a top 10 RT who spent the first 6 years of his career playing in Gary Kubiak's Zone-Blocking scheme. He can be had for $3-4M a year or less. Not sure why you can't see him as a fit. I prefer Zach Streif at RT even tho he's gonna be a little pricier but to each their own i guess...

I didn't say anything about streif. IMO don't need to spend in free agency on a right tackle. I like Wagner or ok to fill that along with a draft pick. Between rt and lg. we need to spend in a vet center. Vet wr. Vet free safety. Bring back d smith. Then you look at interior d line. Then jacoby, graham and ihedigbo. I don't see the value in Winston over these guys. Or streif for that matter.

Adam Schefter = Official

Not always

Would be an upset if the Ravens and their franchise player Ray Rice were able to strike a long-term deal by today's 4 ET deadline.

But I'm extremely glad to have Monroe back and at a reportedly smaller deal than we expected

It was a little premature but when Adam Schefter reports Eugene Monroe  will be resigned within the next few hours....its official he will remain in Baltimore.

This is true.... Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson are two that are usually on the money, also Jay Glazer too but he isn't on tv or writing articles as often these days........

Adam Schefter is the most official guy out there....but he just doesn't know how majestic Ozzie Newsome is at gettin stuff done...he is a wizard and casts spells on his players to make them do what he wants....but he has to let a few walk every year in free agency so no one catches on.

They made this years so low for reason IMO, is it possible they are going to make a front loaded offer to Mack?

Doubt it.  We're slightly under $16M as it stands with a hole slew of needs to fill.

Ozzie wan kenobi? Lol

This is a winner.

I am sure some one else has mentioned, I am gonna go ahead and say it again.

Thank God we didnt franchise Monroe.  We payed four million less than franchise, and we have him for five years.

If I ever meet Ozzie I am going to hug him.   ( if he lets me.... )

i can never remember this much cap room, it's weird the way they have a big discrepancy between yr 1 and yrs 2 through 5 being all similar, why not even it out more? They could have had it that those final years never go above 8 mil cap hit, but they made this years under 3.5 for something.

If not one player, they must be in contact with a few mid price players? Or planning to re up one of the smiths?

I'd assume mid tier players.  A Smith extension is certainly possible as well.

I'd also assume that it's structured that way because of the projected cap increase.  We have a lot of needs this year and I'd guess that he feels that cap space could be better used this year than it would in the future, if that makes sense.

I'll be the first to admit I was wrong, max cap hit of 8.5M when it projected to around 11M. The market flattened when his agent tried to play too many teams and Brandon Albert ended up with 10M more over 5 years.

Raven could be waiting till tomorrow afternoon. Let the browns waste their money on overpaying freeagents and committing a ludicrous 16 mil to revis then structure a front loaded deal with a good sized signing bonus the browns will be stressed to match. This news tells me Mack told his agent. Find me a way off the titanic. I want to win.

Winston? Meh. Don't see it. We aren't going to sign everyone just because they are a former Texan. Daniels looks like medical red flags. Similar skill set to pitta. Maybe not a fit.

ozzie is like freaking darth vader he just manipulates minds all around the league. if we cant get mack signe and he goes back to Cleveland, well we've beat them over and over with mack at center, and we just destroyed some of the cap space they like to toss around every year. if it plays out like that, its a win-win.

The unsung hero is Pat Moriarty. He's the one that negotiates all the contracts. Everyone is quick to sing the praises of the Great Wizard of Oz when something goes down and forgets to appreciate the amazing behind-the-scenes work of one of the best capologist in all the NFL.

Great Job on the Monroe Contract Pat! Impressive.

McKinnie is fantastic, which is exactly why Miami signed Albert.
