Probably operating under the assumption that they use all their tenders and sign all their ERFA's

Yeah which they won't.

i dont see why they cant re-sign monroe with this amount of cap space. why, when we finally have a legit starting quality LT who is a hard worker and isnt a oft-injured and lazy overweight bum, and it just happens to be the same year that we finally have cap space, and were gonna pinch pennies? cmon give the guy a extra 1m a year and dont backload the contract at all and you end up with a 9m a year starting LT and dont have to worry about him inflating. MAKE IT HAPPEN

Who says we aren't resigning him? Let him test the market, then when he finds out he isn't worth what he wants, we can resign him at our price.

... and we need MORE than just Monroe.  We can't just blow most of it or it all on Eugene... We need to consider that as well.

You add in another wideout, an ILB, a safety, a Center...4 starters. Then you have Monroe of course. We have a lot of cap room but we also have a bunch of holes to fill and 22 mil. probably won't get it done. That's 5 quality starters we need.

How beautiful is that? Check out the bottom of the list too! ROFL!

This is the kind of situation Ravens need to be in.. year in, year out.

Nice to have it now. But that would be a bad sign to have a ton if cap space every year. That would signify we are short on talent.

Joe's contract will be sure to keep that number in check after 2015.

You sure that's accurate? I saw on ESPN that the Jets have over $30 in cap space and the Steelers and the Cowboys are under the cap now I believe.

Good, nobody brings up tendering the ERFAs and RFAs that much but they make up a good part of our young talent and we need them.

They cut woodley, extended troy, and restructured taylor and they're still right around the cap line. how great is that!

They seem like they will never learn.  I can only imagine their front office conversations.

A - "Oh my, we need to make some room because we're over the cap."

B - "Why are we over the cap?"

A - "Because of tons of extensions from past years."

B - "How are we going to alleviate the cap issues this year?"

A - "I know!  Lets extend the contracts of our expensive players!"

I feel like money is just disappearing.

It will fluctuate quite a bit the next couple of weeks because not all contracts count against the cap during the off-season. They have to keep recalculating.

It looks like those extra couple million dollars came from incentives from last season, thus, we didn't have the cap carryover.

nobody said blow it all lol, where did you get that from? i said dont be penny pinchers and if he is going to walk over 1m and then swallow your pride and offer another 1mil. we have never had this much cap space, use it to our advantage and build some stability at the second most important position on the team

Ravens offensive tackle Eugene Monroe's five-year, $37.5 million contract carries a first-year, salary-cap figure of just $3.2 million, according to a league source.

That means the Ravens are now $15.817 million under the NFL salary-cap limit of $133 million. The figure includes the six exclusive-rights tendered the Ravens on Tuesday.

Thought I'd share this as some people have been posting that we still have 19 mil. left but that's not true unfortunately. Still, close to 16 mil. should be enough to easily fit 3-4 more quality starters in there (S, ILB; C, WR). Bad news is that there aren't any really good safeties out there anymore. Clemons might be the best one left. Ihedigbo is still out there. And I'm somehow praying we're gonna land Mack to play Center for us...

Someone mentioned Kerry Rhodes. I thought he was a strong safety, but he may be the hybrid type. He's solid in coverage and I can't imagine he'd command much money. He may be an option if he is a hybrid because Elam is a hybrid, even if he is better towards the line. Would give a lot of flexibility on the back end.

You're not the only one praying for Mack

Rhodes is a good center fielder, he could easily be had for the vet minimum. If everything fails I guess we could give him a shot, but he's really just a 1 year option for us. Not sure how old he is, probably 31 or 32. And the longer I think about that I guess I'd prefer Ed Reed back there again. He looked pretty good for the Jets late in the season and made like 3 picks in the final 4 games or so.

I'd take Clemons.  Nothing flashy but does his job.  Which is what we need at FS at this point.
