Rolando McClain comeback?

390 posts in this topic

Bring him back.

Even if he doesn't pan out as a football player, if he got his life back in order I think the Ravens did the right move

I really think Steve Bisciotti should recruit the services of Ray Lewis to go have a chat with him on the Ravens behalf and report back to the team about his thoughts and motivation level. I am sure Ray will not only inspire Rolando to come back but he won't want to let Ray down. So, it will all be positive imo....

i'd love him and Smith as our middle LB, with brown coming in on passing Situations...Give brown and chance to become a student of the game and bulk up a little, i read some articles that he was kinda small this way he is better equipt for run stuffing...

People forget that McClain was a MONSTER St Bama. Was drafted to a scheme that didn't really fit his skill set. He played decently in a 4-3 but he thrives in the 3-4. If he is in any kind of football shape, we landed the guy we wanted to draft but didn't have a snowballs chance in hell of getting. I'm rooting HARD for Rolando!!!

Let him go to voluntaries, OTAs and TC.  If he can cut the mustard, make sure there's a giant "jerk and/or legal trouble clause" in his contract.  What have the Ravens got to lose?

Edited for:  I'm rooting for the guy.

Yo. Tell him I need my ravens cake mold back.

Dude, you NEVER lend out a cake mold. I mean, really?

Low risk, high reward. What's not to like?

Assuming you mean Rolando (and not the cake mould...), I agree.

With regard to another thread here, how well would he fit if we went to the 4-3?

Rolando will not see much of the field this year either way.  He has to take at least a year to get his legs back under him. If he is able to make the cuts i'd be very surprised.

If he is able to make the cuts then we definitely have something there.

This is a very touching article, and really shows that Rolondo's mind,  and heart are in the right place. This is a must read. Do you think he is ready?

his kid wants him to play football...me being a father when your son says something like that to you your gna do it and hes  gna be hungry when he does

i just came across the carroll county times article, then i came here to make a thread if there hasn't already been one...

I WANT ROLANDO MCCLAIN BACK THIS SEASON

there are plenty of reasons not to bring back a guy with run-ins with the law,

but his story would be that of redemption. that's a story i can get behind.

i think it's a principle characteristic of our best seasons.

you don't have to start the guy. get him in special teams at the very least. make sure he wants to play to play football. we don't want a guy who's about himself and his money. we need a real team guy. could he be an emotional leader, as well? of course, i don't have any illusions about the motivation money has on players. i choose to believe in the better of people, even if it isn't genuine.

i hope his signing would be that good karma baltimore needs. 'cause i don't want our recent superbowl to fade into memory. i wan't more superbowls, obviously. i want a dynasty, and i want the steelers to die.

Not well. One of the big reasons why he struggled with the Raiders.  I wouldn't play him if we ran a 4-3.

I agree, it takes a little longer for most men to mature. I think that is what is happening, with Ro. He came into a man's league very young and wasn't ready. Now, through good people surrounding him, he has been able to mature, and see what is best for his family and himself. I think the Ravens are going to have a new Beast on the block! Lol

You want to see if his heart is in it and he has his head on strait? Put him on the practice squad!

Except you cant.

I don't question his character. He took himself out of the NFL to get his life straight, knowing he may never have a chance to play again. I think that is a very mature action to get your life on track.

“I’ve got two little boys that look up and depend on me every day ..."

If that isn't motivation to get your act together, I don't know what is.

I'll be interested in hearing what the outcome was of his planned talk with Ozzie this past Friday (if this meeting indeed even took place). If he impresses the brass that he's sincere about making a comeback the question is ... can he walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

He'll need to prove that he's willing to pay some serious dues. No matter what he does, he'll not see much of the field in the early going and will need to be willing to be primarily a ST player. If he makes the team, he'll have to realize that he may work his butt off during the week and may still find himself on the inactive list for game day.

No matter what he says, that is going to take a serious swallowing of ego ... and having been a top prospect and #8 overall pick .. that could be a lot to swallow. For us, it is probably worth giving it a shot, but that is a lot to overcome.
