Rolando McClain comeback?

390 posts in this topic

Maybe he wanted to come back and see if he had the desire and realized he didn't.

And a conditioning test told him this. Good for him, ha.

He wanted to retire as a Raven. Lol.

Son: "Dad, did you play footall?"

Rolando: "Yes, Pro football, for one of the best teams and a super bowl winner. The Ravens. You know, Ray Lewis, Suggs, Ed Reed. THOSE Ravens."

Son: "Wow!"

It all makes sense now. ;)

LOL!

Too bad for him, I dont think anyone here acknowledges him as a Raven. He doesn't deserve the honor. That title is earned by blood and sweat on the field.

He'll regret it in a couple of years if he wasted his money from his first contract

I take it you've seen that 30 for 30 documentary, "Broke"? Really interesting stuff.

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned he's done as a Raven (even if he wants to come back in a year). Been given enough chances and this is what both sides have to show for it. If he comes back, he can be someone else's issue.

Shame to see that much talent wasted, but gotta respect his choices I guess. At least it was something to talk about during the extended wait for the Draft.

I know, right. How pathetic. Football is more important than his kids, eductation or continuing to get his life together.

^^ LOL at my mispelling of "education"....fail...

Also like how you got negged for stating what SHOULD be obvious to anyone over the age of 11. If the guy thinks other things are more important to him than football, I say more power to him. I wish I were able to retire at 24 and enjoy life.

Not shame on him for making other choices.

Shame on him for making it a game of this and that and wasting other people's valuable time. We're not talking months here - we're not even talking he showed up, put some work in - and then decided it wasn't what he wanted to do.

We're talking about the guy practically begging for a second chance through the media - getting it - quitting on it - then STILL being give that chance - and days later, quite cooincidentally on the day he has to actually start putting some work in - deciding - "you know what? nah - it's been a couple days - I'm over it"

You are killin' this cat B!  If the man says that he is in a "good place" (whatever that means to him) then so be it!  The worst thing that the Ravens need is a player that is "physically" on the team but not "mentally" there.  He is a grown man!  Let him walk if that is his choice.  The Ravens have bigger fish to fry!

#Mili

Agree with you there and I was harsh but, man, what a waste of time even talking about it lol.

More of a waste of time than some of the stuff the media's talking about in the extended buildup to the draft?

WalterFootball just made a mock draft while pretending to be Emmitt Smith, in which he made the same joke 50+ times. At least we have a hard and fast roster-related topic to discuss.

Don't get me started :P I'll be ranting and raving against nfl.com, PFT, etc for days

Everyone saying "He shouldn't have played this game of retiring and unretiring and retiring..." who is playing the games, Rolando or the media? The media exists to make things like this big deal. This would have all been hush hush had it not been for the media.

kinda funny how everyone is bashing him and saying we dont care if he decided to retire. Obviously we cared enough to have a 19 page thread for him

Bye Rolando! Get out of the way.  I'm not mad that he is retiring again.  I'm upset that he is getting press doing so.  I stated earlier, that him making the roster was a long shot anyway.

Boy Bye!

We shouldn't have any hard feelings toward him.

1.) We invested literally NOTHING into him

2.) Not like we were expected to heavily rely on him

3.) It's not like he did it in the middle of TC or something. He did it before workouts even started.

4.) I certainly wouldn't want someone on the team if their heart isn't into it.

I really do wish nothing but the best for Rolando and hope he finds something else that ignites the passion inside of him.

Bumped for truth. Especially number four.

I cant believe so many are bashing him.

We lost NOTHING.

If he did this mid season I can see being angry.  Even in training camp, I get it.

The consequences of him retiring right now  if zero point zero.

The year is not for muscles.  It's to get adjusted to football speed and to get in football shape.  One can't hope to get right back on the field after taking a year off.  Players that have been at our facility training year in and year out still have problems adjusting to the speed of the game.  They are all in shape.  Except maybe Cody.

just stop by to say "WOW",,,,, and what is your thoughts on the retirement,

I believe that he came to Ravens HQs for a workout. He was late and did not do a very good job.

I mean, was he in Baltimore today??

Rolando seems to be a bit weird. I wonder if he's someone histrionic in personality. He seems to crave attention from his legal outbursts to claiming he's ready to return to retiring to unretiring to retiring again. He doesn't seem to know what he wants. He might have some mental health disorder or some personality disorder. I won't hate on the guy. No need. I wish him the best of luck in life but I'm happy we don't have to deal with the headache he brings.

Understatement of the year! But just an FYI, when you have that kind of loot, it's called "eccentric"

I just feel sad for him but I am kinda glad the saga has ended. He was evidently a very bright kid, but he seems to have a lot of Ricky Williams without the dope and travel! Oh wait, some of Pacman Jones as well!

I've wondered that myself, particularly after the Sun article where Cody callled him a genius, the smartest man he'd ever met. There's such a fine line between brilliance and insanity, which doesn't lend itself to team sports - or life, for that matter.

you know Ricky used the dope to self-medicate a diagnosed mental illness - until he discovered yoga and meditation. Broke my heart when he retired, he was one of my favorite players.

I wish we would just relinquish his rights so the next time he has a change of heart he can do his offseason circus act for different team.

This whole saga reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Lisa sends Homers pig flying and he blindly retains hope of the situation coming good but tragically never gets to consume that succulent pork.
