its not news to anyone that Elam is a natural SS

there is a slim chance that Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will make it to our pick, there are so many teams that need safeties that pick before we do - Cowboys, Steelers, and Rams to name a few

i dont think any of our safeties were late round safeties, Elam was a first rounder and the rest were UDFAs, nobody is advocating that we wait to draft one late, but drafting one in the first doesnt necessarily mean they will succeed either, its such a weak safety class and an even weaker FS class

no thanks on Clark, if we make it far we will most certainly have to face Denver and we cant face Denver's passing attack without a FS, Clark cant play in Denver so we would be left with a huge hole late in the playoffs

I cannot see us paying a Free Safety 1st Round money and putting both a rookie FS and sophomore Matt Elam at SS on the field, playing in 2014! That's insane unless the guy is Ed Reed-reincarnate!

Besides, Ozzie's going to trade out of the 1st Round for more draft picks if he signs Ryan Clark and find our vet Center! There will be no incentive in drafting at 17th if we've addressed our main needs!

@Reed20Fence Pryor from Louville is a Strong Safety, drew lots of comparisons to Bob Sanders and how he played. When we draft our FS in the first round, look to Ha'Sean Clinton Dix to be called.

Only problem is, Ha Ha Clinton Dix is not being drafted by the Ravens. Offense will be the theme for the 1st and most likely the 2nd rounds of the draft. Ozzie will surely modify his mantra of " best player available" to best "offensive" player available for the upcoming draft. With the money invested at QB, it's time to get that investment to start paying dividends with a little more emphasis on the offensive side of things. Bank on it.

Why not Ed Reed? If we can get him for a fair price, he can be a one-year stop gap while we figure out the FS position. Plus he's getting paid by Texans, like Steve Smith is being paid by Carolina, so he's getting his and we can cover our base until we figure out something else.

NO Ryan cheap shot to the head clark and D.T.Guion already signed with green bay I dont what were waiting for our team was 8 and 8 good free agents signing somewhere else everyday we have money to spend and LOTS of holes to fill and we are not going to fill every spot in the draft sometimes you have to step up to sign good players not always Trading back in draft or waiting to sign cheap F.A you get someone on the cheap for a reason meanwhile the Broncos and pats got a lot better and they were already better than us last year we have some catching up to do

I have been a ravens fan since I was 10 years old,but when I saw that Clark title I felt the heartbeat of my allegiance to the ravens go faint.It bounced right back because I'll bleed purple blood for life,but if the ravens actually sign Clark that heartbeat might have a full on heart attack.

Ryan Clark is also one of Ed Reed's best friends - they grew up in the same area, if I recall it correctly.

i like the addition of clark. strickly on the grounds of his mouth in piticular, we signed one of the biggest mouths on the field in steve smith. Why not get a vet in willing to push the defense that much more, we need someone willing to light a fire under players A$$'s in the late part of games, keep them pumped and keep them going. so why not?

If you compare Clark's and Reed's last season, you'll see why...

 

Ed Reed is gonna be Ed Reed for us, Ravens fans for ever, of course, and Clark is always gonna stay a steeler for us, no matter what. But last season... Clark was better, let's face it.

 

Also, so far this is merely a rumor. We know nothing about the facts yet. Maybe Clark's name has never came up in the Castle... A week or two ago, everyone thought we would pursue Champ Bailey to convert him to FS - and then nothing happened... (altough, there's a fair amount of chance that both Clark and Bailey -. but at least one of them - will still be there in the garbage period of free agency... Ozzie's prime hunting season.

Im also in favor of ED REED for a couple year band aid, I keep seeing that pop up. Yes hes slower and a one arm tackler basically because of the Labrum issues. However his football IQ and leadership, ball hawking ability is better then any available FS even at his age. He had 3 INTS with the Jets which is basically the Ravens Defensive Scheme with some tweaks in limited time because he started and was misused in houston.

Clark is a very talented player, but hes happening to be 34 years old. We need to get younger PERIOD. Clark is a great player, and I would definetly not mind having him here, and im sure any true Ravens fan will like the addition of a good player, but hopefully we can get younger, either Draft maybe Chris Clemons.

1. DeCoud would undoubtedly come at a significantly higher priced tag than Clark.

2. If we are using a first round pick on a FS, I'd expect him to be the starter right out of the gate. I'd rather put in Clinton Dix and let him struggle then spend money on a veteran FS, with no logical reason to keep them around for longer than a season.

Guys, there's nothing wrong with drafting SS with good coverage skills this year. If we do, I bet we'll get Jimmy Ward, not Pryor. Calvin Pryor (or Haha for that matter) is not worth the 17th pick and Ward likely can be had in 2nd round. Apart from that, Ward might just be a better player than Pryor or Clinton-Dix.

 

I'm on the fence with this Clark thing. I'd obviously support him as a Raven but I wouldn't be too excited, that's for sure. I also won't be unhappy if we leave him to someone else to sign.
