yo people are coming at me about MY opinion .. i never said hed be a epic fail i said he isnt long term player here is my point

You didn't call it an epic fail ... just "a dumb move".

All I'm doing is expressing my opinion, as well.

We know he isn't a long term player, but I think in the short term an effective one and a guy who I think could set the tone for a young receiving corps. I don't know that Brown's growth is going to be stunted by his presence ... possibly to the contrary. We need that kind of veteran leadership that has the right amount of edge to them.

Still want to try to get Mike evans in the draft smith has prob 2-3 years i dont want that for long term i want evans way to good not to trade up and get for joe and he can learn from both of the smiths

Absolutely ... that's the perfect scenario. Smith for his immediate productivity and for leadership and Evans for the future.

To get Evans , I think you're right ... it will require a trade up. He just looked too darn good in the combine. Now how far up will we have to go? I just don't see the FO going 9 slots up or something in the first round ... that's super expensive and it is just not something we normally do. Now if he's still around and we only have to jump a few slots ... that's a possibility.

Remember a couple years ago we had a couple high valued players (i think one of them was Evan Mathis) come visit and none signed? i hope the team improved their sales pitch. We don't want him walking away!

I don't care as long as we draft either Mike Evans or Kelvin Benjamin in the draft. Signing Steve Smith could be good or really bad for this team. I sense that it would be more on the bad end of things. Carolina typically doesn't dump quality players until there's nothing left in them. Steve Smith may be our poor man's Boldin for this season, or he could be like last years 37 y.o. Brandon Stokley just with a big mouth.

Yeah - this isn't in the bag yet. Evan Mathis and Malcom Floyd ... but the difference there was it became clear those guys were just using us to jack up their price as both ended up staying with their current teams and it was where they wanted to stay all along. That's not the case for Smith. Others may be considering him as a possibility, but I think we're going to be putting an offer on the table. It feels like we're going to get him.

Ozzie will Draft defense the first 2 rounds we have to many holes on defense we need aFS,CB,LB, and a DL to replace Arthur Jones so look for ozzie to go defense early.

Just my opinion, usually if a player makes a visit a deal is all but done. I don't see Smith getting on a plane to Baltimore without the deal being 90% done. Just my opinion!! I will be the first to welcome Steve Smith to Baltimore!!

i think ozzie is setting up a plan to make a play for mack. If we sign smith it will be cheap and then the next big priority is daryl smith. After that i think will still have a lot of cap room to spend so who knows. It will be tough to get mack but if we do our o line goes from the worst in the league to maybe one of the best

"JamesA119 Graham is not worth the contract he is getting anyway. he was a 3rd corner, not irreplaceable. You can't pay everybody. We also have a GM named Newsome. Hes got this." {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Well that's the problem. I like Ozzie, but there appears to be this blind faith in his decisions. What happened with Spears, and Huff in free agency last year? Cody, Kindle, Dickson etc., in the draft? How about always losing players in their prime? - Ellerbe, Redding, Jarret Johnson etc., I think all these years we got away with it because we had the "equalizer" Ray Lewis. The Ravens are not alone in this regard. The Patriots seem to get away with it too because of their equalizer - Tom Brady.

Players in their prime?

Jarret Johnson? JJ has heart but honestly he only played in 11 games last year 15 year before; every year with the Ravens he played in 16 except 2003.

Cory Redding, his numbers all dropped last compared to when he was in Baltimore. Not worth losing sleep over.

Dannell Ellerbe, good player but not worth what he got paid in Miami in the Ravens system. He didn't really play all that well in Miami, LB is one of the positions they are complaining about the most. They pretty much are saying on their fan boards the only reason Ellerbe is coming back is because of how much cutting him would cost on the salary cap.

We have lost a lot of big players over the years but that is what playing under the cap is. Most of the time we always find a quality replacement that is within budget. That nothing to do with Ray Lewis. Also most of the time these players either totally drop off the face of the Earth or only have one or two good seasons off the Baltimore roster.

Finally a guy that is going to bring some fire back to this team. We got rid of our strong leaders for other guys to become those leaders which they did a pretty good job. But Steve Smith is nasty and I love the way he plays. He might not make the plays Boldin did when he was here like the jump balls and that stuff but he can scrap with the best of them. Idc bout his age. I like a two year contract and him retiring a Raven.

what I'm hoping for:

re-sign Daryl Smith

sign Chris Clemens S

sign Steve Smith (only 1 year deal)

sign a center (not neccesary Alex Mack)

and draft the last needs. (TE, RB, DE, CB and so on and don't have to be in that order)

Of course Smith is signing. Where else is he gonna go? There is less than a one in ten chance of Ozzie picking a defensive player in rd 1. Rumors of Aaron Donald and Cyrus are a smoke screen. No way. I think as soon as the pick is made everyone will go... yeah that's a good one. It will just make sense. And round two will fall into place and so will 3-5. I have no doubt this will be the best draft class in years for the Ravens.

Lets not get a 34 year old wideout with 2 year left. Lets get Brandin Cooks via draft like Mel Kiper Jr said. The to are the same size but cooks has years ahead of him. We all dont want Dallas Clarke again.

We need a good Veteran to mentor our new receivers. Get me Steve Smith.

We need a blocking tight end---- Get us Pettigrew.

We need to focus on the offensive line in the draft. I wish we could have got a FS. Just sign Pettigrew, Smith, Edleman...... We will be okay at the skill positions.

I wouldn't mind Wilfork, he caves in O-lines, kind of like our O-Line got caved in last year....With Arthur gone, we need someone who can push O-linemen back, or open holes for our LBers...

If we were by chance to add Wilfork with Ngata , it would remind me of the old days with Sam Adams and Tony Siragusa. We definitely could use that! Baltimore Beast Mode.

I was reading on the Panther website, those fans are are very upset about Steve Smith leaving their team, I was believing Panther FO hype that Smith was a problem for the team but now I actually believe he already Plays Like a Raven. He wants the ball and can make plays.

Whats stopping us from getting both?

If we do sign Smith wouldn't it be tipping our hand on draft strategy? Everyone would know we're coming into the draft with a tilt towards o-line and adjust their boards. I say we make an aggressive offer to Alex Mack and restore some balance.

Also, the WR field is getring crowded now. Torrey, Marlon, Jacoby, usually Pitta lining up as WR on spreads got Mallette in waiting and now potentially Stevie Smith? Why on Earth would we waste a first rounder on a guy that'll just crowd the field some more? Get a RT or FS.

I'm now starting to think this is a 50/50 shot at signing Smith today. His agent has floated out the notion that visits with other teams will be scheduled today. Maybe that's just strategy but Ozzie will not get muscled into a high stakes game of poker. It's going to be here's our offer but once you leave, the offer's off the table...... Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Lamarr Woodley has signed with the Raiders. In his introductory presser he claimed that the Broncos won't win a Super Bowl in his lifetime, because they would have to go through the Raiders for that.

Are you serious ? lol ... If that's true, he certainly has his career after football headed in the right direction, as a freaking comedian.
