smdh disappointed in our fo for this move man

Agreed, everyone seems so hyped about getting a big name receiver but forgetting this guy is 35 yrs old. His best years aren't just behind him, they're five plus years behind him. Like the idea of getting a veteran to help develop some of the younger guys but Steve smith doesn't seem like the mentor type, panthers gm said he was a distraction more than anything else last year

We had this type of WR on our team during the SB run.....remember Anquan Boldin. A young 34 so to speak with "only" 85 catches last season for the Niners. They were smart enough to know what they had and signed him to two more years. His production may slip a little now that they will have Crabtree for the full season. "Only" 70 receptions.

It would be awesome if we picked up Wilfork (for the right price of course). One of my favorite non ravens (along with Steve Smith) in the league. One of the few Patriots that I like.

He's 32. Not too old, but coming off an Achilles tendon tear. He's going to command a decent salary from someone ... but this is not an area of true need for us. ... particularly if Ngata could be the dominating player he is being paid to be.

The money he would get is earmarked for other needs.

Just sign Mack, find the money to get it done....We could have Megatron, Fitz, even superman playing WR, but it wouldn't do any good if we can't protect Flacco....

@ravensnj, I think it would be better if he didn't play 3 downs. He was never a pass rusher. Im not 100% sure but I think he always had a great work ethic. If not, i don't see BB keeping him on the pats for 10 seasons. I don't think the comparison to Haynesworth is not accurate. I think he would instantly upgrade our run d. I have no idea what kind of money he is asking for, but I think he would be a great addition to our d line.

I agree. We need to look into a young NT in the draft.

I wouldn't mind Wilfork, he caves in O-lines, kind of like our O-Line got caved in last year....With Arthur gone, we need someone who can push O-linemen back, or open holes for our LBers...

I can already visualize the "T." on the back of Torrey Smith's jersey because there's going to be a "S. Smith" lining up across from him, but first he has to come at the right price.

Without a doubt! He might even push Ngata to play at a high level again.

Shame Marlon isn't getting the love he deserves as our slot WR, he did nothing but show toughness running crossing routes, and the ability to get separation...The kid plays hungry like T.Smith...

I think the organization still has high hopes for Brandon Williams, although I was disappointed by how little he saw the field in 2013. Unless someone that we're high on really falls, I'm not anticipating us taking an NT in the first 3 rounds.

Do we know yet what our comp picks are?

Brandon Williams is our future NT, he showed flashes last year, and i expect nothing but upside from him....O-Line, and Secondary Depth should be our top priorities...

@ravensnj We drafted B williams last year. He has a lot of potential. I think signing Wilfork would be great for ngata. He could play limited snaps at D end during running downs with Wilfork at N tackle. That would keep him fresh for playing passing downs. I think this would make our pass rush almost unstoppable with suggs and dumerville at olb and canty and Deanglo Tyson or Lewis-Moore or Williams or whoever else we decide to replace Art with. Then a fresh and rested Ngata at N tackle. This is just my opinion though. I love debating football with others though, so please let me know your opinions.

You're exactly the kind of fan that complains now but when he finishes the season with 700 yards and 5 or more TDs you pretend like you approved the move all along.

Don't forget about DeAngelo Tyson. He had a pair of sacks and an interception last year with very limited action. He might be ready to step up.

you dont what kind of supporter i am .. but since youre curious, im the kind of thats realistic. smith is one of my favorite wr period, but lets say he catches 75+ passes and 800+ yards hes 34 if him and joe get good chemistry it wont be long lived... now you seem to be the delusional that probably jumped for joy when we signed deon sanders, or dallas clark or stokely and thought theyd dramatically upgrade our team. WAKE UP SON

Boldin was with us for three years. It wasn't long-lived. Would you say it was worth it?

I think you are the one who needs to wake up because Dallas Clark played well last year outside of a few drops while Pitta was gone. I don't understand why Deion Sanders was brought into this discussion and Stokely was a good signing for the price. No one could predict him getting hurt. That being said, I see you complaining how Marlon Brown will some how be phased out of the offense if Steve signs here as if there is no such thing as 3 and 4 WR sets. And who ever said Steve Smith would take Marlon Browns spot as the #2 receiver.

Thank JESUS someone said it. People are acting like Steve Smith is 45 years old. He is 2 years removed from 80 catches 1400 yards, still tough as hell, fiery as hell, has a lot of passion and would probably be up there speed wise with Jacoby Jones still at the age of 34.

guys if the guy goes and have a great year or two, what the chances of that lasting another two years.. i mean not that he couldnt, but him actually wanting to be play. hes not 31 32, his prime has pasted . the most he could do is offer wisdom, but other than that be honest man. how long will this last, if he signs a two year deal, and only get 62 catches 745 yards and 3 tds he'll be released guaranteed.. bc we have wrs that do that here now, but we'll see. and im hoping he has a great last few years but it isnt something thatll last. we need to try build a team of chemistry, pitta 5yrs, monroe 5yrs, jones, 4yrs. build around that
