That's great... now go look at the distributions of who he threw to... it was spread out to everybody. Heck, Kevin Walter was the #2 WR in that offense for years, and he never averaged more than 56 yards per game. And Jacoby, their #3 or #4 target (which is exactly would Brown would be), never eclipsed 40 yards per game in any of those 4,000 yard Schaub offenses.

A. Flacco should throw for more yds then Shuab

B. As much as I like Torrey I don't see him putting up 1,500 yds(like Andre Johnson does) this season because they will spread the ball out.

C.  Unless they sign James Jones, Edelman or draft a first day super star who is knocking Brown to number 3?

Those extra yds that I pointed out in A and B have to go somewhere and I don't think it would surprise anyone if a couple hundred went to Brown

WE need: 1. Center 2. WR 3. T 4. DL 5. ILB 6. FS 7. CB 8. RB- If we can land a WR and a C in FA and then look to build the rest from the Draft we would be set up nicely. The draft is deep so I beleive that we could fill most of the needs through the draft but it would be nice to add one or two more before that draft comes around!

Steve Smith helps. doesnt solve the problem though, and i dont think he'd pan out as well as Anquan or Derrick; game isnt the same. Still need somebody else to put on the outside. Take a shot and draft a good receiver. Managed to pull it off with Torrey, do it one more time, and we're set for years.

Charley Casserly (a former NFL GM) said it best on NFL network.. "In FA young and healthy is what you want to sign".. The reason he believes Monroe was a big signing over the likes of a Brandon Albert etc.. Same goes for S.Smith vs these other WRs.. If your going to spend money make it last..

Key word there is "Former" my man. Veteran WRs are a great thing especially if they can play the slot. Look at what we did with Derrick Mason.

IMO, you get quality help from FA to bolster the team NOW, regardless of age (e.g., Derrick Mason, Matt Birk, Corey Redding, Ricky Williams, Bryant McKinnie, on and on)  A lot of guys we sign aren't young but help the team, nevertheless. You naturally get young through the draft.

Build that offensive line. If no o-line then it doesn't matter who the receivers and RBs are, the offense will go nowhere. Sign C Mack, but Oz may not want to do that given possible impact on comp picks, IL Smith (3 YRS w/2 guaranteed), and maybe add WR Smith for 1 yr. Draft a WR, S, and OL and play them to develop. In the end, I trust the Oz - few teams build competitive teams like we do: through the draft.

You need to review WHEN those false starts were since most of them were in his first two years. He has much improved. ALL of his false starts last year came in the same game, so that was possibly an officiating issue. He's a quality, durable tackle who does whatever is asked of him. We could do a lot worse.

Well aware, the article about Smith having more false starts came up when I searched for Oher's totals. We'll see what happens with him, personally I don't care if he leaves, but if Baltimore gets him for the right price I won't complain until he starts having flags thrown on him again. The officiating in the game where he had three false starts was bad, but I know for sure off the top of my head one of them was a false start. After signing Monroe I am expecting Baltimore to take a RT at some point, along with a C unless they somehow sign Mack.

MAYBE he shook the problem, maybe. We'll have to wait and see. But Yknow what? He doesn't drive forward on running plays, everyone on our line acted like there were blocking for a pass and let the other team run at them instead of meeting them, nobody stood their ground except Yanda, and he didn't every game. Oher was bad about that last year, watch some videos.

Torrey Smith,Hakeem Nicks,Jacoby Jones and Marlon Brown is the type of receiving corp needed to compete with Denver. We shouldn't go after Steve Smith. He's trending downward.Give Hakeem the 4.5 million per year he wants and watch our offense go from bottom 5 to what it was in the 2012-2013 playoffs.

I guess I'm warming up to the idea of signing Smith, I just really had my heart set on signing Julian Edelman. He's a young productive slot receiver and would be a good compliment to our speedy guys.

If we get Steve Smith you can pretty much gurantee we turn right around and do all it takes to get Alex Mack out of Cleveland

you would hope so but I'm not sure. Alex Mack is a great center and would be such a huge sign for the Ravens. I'm just not sure we have the money to do so. He will probably cost a lot since we have to out bid the browns who have the second most cap space.

Do you guys really think Cleveland will let us out bid them for Mack with the cap money they have and as bad as they hate us no way that's going to happen.

I know - we'd have to seriously overpay him ...which is something we just won't do.

It is a great thing to dream about but I am wondering if we are going to be active in pursuit of another option soon. Giants and Bucs are targeting the same guys we'd probably like to bring in, so I think a realistic assessment needs to be made on Mack soon.

As awesome as it would be to have him as a Raven, we just need a solid upgrade at the position. The money saved in not landing the absolute #1 player at that position can be used on some other holes that need filling.

Not sure I understand why we re-signed Jacoby... if we are going after a WR like Steve Smith? Jacoby -SSmith and Marlon Brown are all slot WR's - I guess that Jacoby and Smith could be a # 2 but hmmmm... same goes for Eldeman? I know that Jacoby has a large value in ST but seems like a larger investment for a position we may not need (to go after SSmith or Eldemen)> Dont get me wrong... I would love to see steve smith in a Raven uniform but Not sure I get the Jacoby singing if we do?

Would signing Steve Smith or Eldemen make Jacoby Jones trade bait come the draft? I guess that is what I am asking?????

Jacoby isn't viewed as a #1 or #2 receiver, hence his $3.5 million salary.

Ravens07... I get that Jacoby is not a #1 or # 2 WR... but that is my point. We have him as a slot WR / We have Marlon Brown who outplayed Jacoby last season (as a slot WR) and we are looking at two WR 1. Steve Smith and 2. Julian Eldemen (both slot WR). Steve Smith would be more of a # 2 then Eldemen but at 35 he is better suited for the slot. So if we would sigh either Steve Smith or Eldemen what does that mean for Jacoby... that would make him a very good ST guy and our # 3 slot WR... is he worth $3.5 a year for that? or does he become trade bait at the draft?

Donald Penn from Tampa was just released, anyone else think he would be an upgrade at RT for us?

He's a LT - so, I guess he's gonna get LT money somewhere... The Raiders, for example, are looking for a LT after failing to get Saffold.

Also, as far as I know, he was a disappointment in Tampa.

maybe Ravens try to get Tillman ? Fill in the CB need

We have our two starting CB's, and Chykie could be a decent backup - so I don't think we're on the market fro a starting caliber CB (unless ones comes along as a real bargain in the later phases of free agency)

IDK.... We havent upgraded from the 8-8 team we were last season yet

We Kept Monroe... Good step but not an upgrade from this past season. We signed Pitta... again great but still no upgrade. We re-signed Jacoby...same deal. We have lost Art Jones, Ihedigbo , Corey Graham and McClain at this point I am sure we have a game plan to replace Ihedigbo and upgrade at some of those places.... but as of right now we are certainly behind last season... and falling. Curious to see how Ozzie works his magic?

There's a report that the Browns are reaching a deal for CIN WR Hawkins. It has been said that the 3 teams trying to contract Edelman are NE, CLE and BAL. This would take CIN out of the mix. I'd still rather draft a WR and use our money elsewhere.

We have retained guys that will make us better than an 8-8 football team. Especially if Pitta comes back 100%. Out of the guys we have lost, Art Jones is the only one that hurts a good bit. Graham hurts a little, but we an easily find a replacement. We are going to bring another receiver in, don't worry about that. The only position we NEED to upgrade right now is center. The rest we can get in the draft. Now defense, we need a FS, ad hopefully resign D. Smith. We will be fine, we are 2 days into Free Agency. We aren't falling anywhere.
