[News] 2014 Ravens Free Agency Rumor Mill

who was very close to signing with the Ravens and pulled off in the last minute when jerry jones sent a private jet to pick him up ? that ozzie mentioned in eugene monroe presser ?

It might be when Ray Lewis was being courted by the Cowboys. Probably one of the more frightening moments of Ozzie's career! lol

Everyone is signing with Denver because it is now legal to Puff there. Lol They basically have signed all the top defensive players. How I don't know. Would love the Ravens to go after Chris Harris. He is better then Corey grahm. Ask Flacco.

Yeah, Chris Harris or Nolan Carroll

Please don't sign Owen Daniels. We already have a pass catching TE in Dennis Pitta and having two would do wonders for our offense with Kubiak there but we need someone to actually block down field and in the jumbo packages for us. I think Pettigrew would come cheaper and be a better blocker. He's also just as good of a redzone threat as Daniels due to his size and arm length alone, not counting if the team he was on used him right!

Steve Smith would be a great signing though and I believe he'll come to Baltimore. He doesn't remind me of Boldin or of Mason but he'll bring the same leadership and route running expertise that can help the young Ravens WR corps develop into their full potential and if not at least keep them focused long enough to get close.

If we use some of our cash to sign Mack to a deal as well, we might be doing two giant things at once. #1 We'll be making Cleveland a lot weaker by taking their best lineman. They won't be able to get anywhere if their offense can't score any points. Also, he could bring inside knowledge about the organization and we could use that to our advantage against our divisional foes who have gone out and completely SOUPED up their defense. #2 We'll be shoring up our offensive line with a two time pro bowler at center and protecting our quaterback from their defense. He's practiced against them for his entire career, he can definitely use that to his advantage during the games and help us win our division. After K.O and Marshall Yanda come back to full health, we're only missing one piece of our offensive line puzzle as long as we sign the extra blocker in Pettigrew, and that's RT.

Also, signing Monroe and Smith and even Mack would provide a lot of young talented (just not Smith lol) LEADERSHIP (that is Smith). We were missing leadership last season and everything seemed way too lethargic to just be the usual problems. It was a hangover and then some for our players. It would also wipe out those as needs for the draft. The less needs we have going into May...the better! If we can solely focus on drafting the best players available then that means we'll have an extremely solid team once again this year.

I say we trade for a good free safety because I'm not completely sure if Hasean Clinton-Dix or Calvin Pryor are up to being Pros yet. One analyst on CBS compared Hasean Clinton-Dix to Earl Thomas III. That's a very friendly comparison AND Ozzie loves his Alabama products but just in case, who's out there that we can trade for? And who else will be available for us on draft day?

Good questions? TBD.

Having Mack and Monroe & Yanda to solidify our O-Line for the next few years would be a powerhouse.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports four teams have shown "varying levels" of interest in free agent C Alex Mack.

RapSheet mentions the Ravens and Colts as two of the teams interested in the 28-year-old. They're waiting for the "frenzy to die down" before making a run at Mack, who was slapped with the transition tag by the Browns. Indianapolis needs a center after releasing Samson Satele, while Baltimore needs an upgrade on Gino Gradkowski. Mack is arguably the best center in the NFL.

Man if we can get Steve smith in here to play slot that would be huge he fits our system and play passionate football and he would come at a good price.

Hah, "waiting for the frenzy to die down".

More like waiting on Browns to spend their dough. Come on Cleveland, Revis Island is still waiting!

If we are in a battle with the colts to get Alex Mack we will loose we don't have the cap money they do and Ozzie never over pay to get a player. I think Ozzie go a cheaper route and get someone else.

You know....  The Colts are spending their money too....  Won't be long, and they'll be in the situation that lots of teams like ourselves are in...  It'll only go so far, then you're done... Then you got an old team and no CAP space... Cuz, eventually they're gonna have to pay Luck!

If the R's can tie down Mack and with Monroe, Yanda, & KO coming back things would be looking up for the OL. They then can concentrate on getting some impact O players in the draft. WR & RB.

Best idea i've heard in a while!!! I wouldn't blow all the money but it a beautiful mental image of a secondary featuring Revis, Webb, Elam and Smith

Seattle Seahawks 2013-2014

Not being a smart alec...just saying brother lol BTW I don't want Revis either. I want FS Kendrick Lewis from Kansas City and Henry Melton from the Bears. They shouldn't be too expensive and they're quality players. I'm super-psyched about the Alex Mack news though!

Sure! Why not? :eyes:

According to ex-GM Charley Casserley and the rest of the NFL AM cable Talking Heads, we,... all 15 remaining AFC teams may as well not suit up for 2014!

As soon as Denver signed DeMarcus Ware, the Broncos automatically won the AFC Championship! :bitenails:

Tate signing with the lions. that will be interesting to see

I hope it happens so bad! If they sign a bunch of free agent WRs then they might pass on WR Mike Evans in the draft. I'd rather have Mike Evans than Tate. If the Lions pick the best CB, I'll scream with joy.

It was a lot more than their secondary that got them there.... I know... They did use that secondary against Peyton and Co.

So much for a "big splash". It's getting kind of irritating watching all these teams sign good players at reasonable prices. Hopefully we can join in soon so we don't lack talent.

It ticks me off that they automatically got them winning the AFC Championship....  WAIT...didn't they do that two years ago????  ...and they had them winning the SB last year too.....  SMH....  They are NOT unbeatable... nor will they be this year either.
