UPDATED: MESSAGE BOARDS CLOSING AFTER DRAFT   03/08/2017

After careful consideration, we have decided that we will sunset our message boards after this year's NFL Draft. Since we opened our boards a decade ago, the digital landscape has greatly evolved. While we understand there remains a smaller group of highly-engaged fans who participate in conversation in our forums, a significant amount of the dialogue about our team and our games has migrated away to other social media platforms over the past several years. Our message boards will remain up and running through Friday, May 5th, and will be removed on May 6th. We recognize that this change may upset avid members of our community. However, we look to utilize our time and resources to focus on how we can best connect with our fans across an array of digital/social outlets. If you are not already engaging us and other members of the Ravens Flock on our Facebook page, Instagram account, through Twitter or Snapchat, we invite you to follow us on those channels and continue to participate in our social communities. In addition, the commenting feature on our website articles will remain intact. Members will be able to continue using their boards account to log in and share their thoughts at the bottom of every news story. We’d like to thank all the Flock members and our moderators who have brought thoughtful conversation to this space and made our community great for the last 10 years. Ravens Social Media Hub »

Report: Albert McClellan Re-signed

I like him as a guy who at least will provide special teams help and depth at LB. I think if Daryl walks, he could carve out a bigger role on the defense and see some more playing time.

I'll reiterate it again here… This is a quality signing.  He's a stellar ST player than can fill in on defense in a pinch.  Guys like this have more value to a team than most people realize.

Yeah! Unsung hero, for sure. When Suggs went though his Achilles injury, McClellan came right in and played extremely well. He didn't rush the passer as well as Suggs, but he wasn't bad. Pretty good at stuffing the run and not bad in coverage either. Moreover, he's more than capable of playing ILB. Great on STs, too.

Always liked McClellan. Glad we got him for a couple more years. Very reliable player if someone goes down and a very good special teams player.

Super Bowl bound!!!

In all seriousness, this is a quality re-signing by Ozz. As has already been stated by others on here, he is a decent LB and a ST standout. He is also a class act. I am very glad to have him back with us.

I like the resigning, just wondering how much. Like you said, solid player and good ST guy. Maybe it was me, but didnt seem like he had as much playing time last year as compared to others.

Likely something similar to what they did with LS Morgan Cox last year.  They gave Cox a $250K bonus and minimum base salaries for 2013 and 2014.

So, if something like that, they would be carrying McClellan at around $770-800K, instead of having to given him the low RFA tender of $1.431M.  That would be a Cap savings of around $600-650K.

I know Mcllelan isn't a world beater, his OK I suppose.

I think the good thing about this is that, we are putting out a bigger message: If you contribute you will be rewarded. No matter how small your role might be.

Do your job and Ravens will find a way to take care of you.

This is exactly what Oz the Great and Powerfull means when he says the right player at the right price. According to Brian McFarland

"McClellan's new deal will likely reduce his Cap number by $600-650K over what would have been a $1.431M RFA tender"

"Albert McClellan's 2-year deal likely similar to deal Ravens gave LS Morgan Cox last yr. Minimum base salaries for both yrs, w/ small bonus"

Echoing other comments, I like Albert and think he's a good player. He has effectively replaced BA51 and he's a big component of our ST as a result. I'd like to see him more involved on defense but that remains to be seen. He's a great reserve with some starting potential.

Glad to have him locked up for cheap. This is the kind of guy you want rounding out a roster and to fill out your depth.

Has starting experience, good depth, versatile in that he can play inside or outside, and contributes on special teams.

Not a headlining deal, but the type of guy that you need to fill out a championship roster.

McClellan ended up getting a little more than I would have thought.  His Cap number for this year is $1M, so there is only a Cap savings of $431K over what the RFA tender would have been.
