I'd be all on board, but does it send a bad message if we cut Reid and Thompson, but not Rice?  I know there are obvious cap implications there, but how can you cut 2 and not all 3?

 In theory, I do agree. But I also think back to Jimmy Johnsons football life "Im going to treat you according to your stature on this team. If your a practice squad guy, falling asleep in meetings, I'll cut you. But if your Troy Aikman, I'll tap you on your shoulder and ask you to wake up". I'm paraphrasing, but he was making the ultimate point that certain players are above others on the totem pole, and that's just how it is.

Reid will eventually be cut though because he's a scrub. But not until after the draft/FA.

It certainly makes sense to think that way as well, but with an already negative image stemming for 3 arrests, are we really in a position to make the case that one guy is above the others?  I don't know that we are.  I certainly understand Johnson's point, but does that apply to arrests?

No we really are not in that position, especially in this transition within our franchise. Maintaining the franchise integrity that was built for 15+  years off the back of Ray Lewis and others is very important to maintaining a level of prestige within the league. We don't need arrests, and we need to cut ties with such players. But it's hard to ignore the large cap hit of Rice that can't be erased, and the small hits of Jah/Deonte.

 

However, it must be mentioned how Ozzie handled the Atlanta Ray Lewis situation and reserved judgement until the law ran its course. Boy, how that could have turned out differently in a lot of ways. So I really do trust Ozzie with these matters, and especially Rice's which is the most serious of allegations.

Cap implications, but they need to suspend Rice at least.  If he ultimately gets into legal trouble, he has to be on the roster for the team to recoup some of the money based on how the new CBA works.  I understand the hypocrisy argument, and I'd love to get rid of Rice if we could, but the fact of the matter is that the rules are different for a multi-million dollar player as opposed to a nobody roster filler.

It also points more to the fact of what kind of guys are in the locker room? Deonte is riding around in a car with no headlights with a bunch of weed and criminals. Jah is fighting security guards at a strip club. Rice is 'allegedly' knocking out his GF with upper cuts (although by all accounts, she's no angel). That definitely does not convey a level of professionalism.

Double Standard? Yes. But in reality, Reid and Thompson make very little, and Rice makes premier RB money. It is a business and if they can be cut at little cost, while the latter comes w/ a high cost and a hindrance to the franchise if he were cut; It's just the way it is. Ultimately, we need the GM and Owner to do what is best for the team, as opposed to morally correct. Cutting Rice for his altercation would kill us in terms of dead cap space.

Yes, the "score" is cumulative but just for each individual post, not overall. I used my + to give you the one that was originally intended. Not that it matters in the big picture. At least half of the negs are from people trying to scroll on touch screens anyhow.

. There used to be but people would get offended and get argumentative about the negs, posters would try to open multiple accounts to get around it, groups of posters would gang up on others and they would neg people they don't like and give each other + es, all very childish. Then we had people wanting their accounts deleted because bosses checking out social media and they were afraid for their jobs. 60 Minutes or Dateline did a whole couple stories on it so they got rid of the +\-'s and mostly the blog posters got upset because they liked the system SO it was brought back to not count. Now with the scrolling touch screens it is so easy to accidentally neg someone it's probably a good idea. So if we see an oops post the mods will try and fix it. If you had the question so might someone else-- now back to poor Jah Reid.

Jah seems so chill in person, I used to seem him when I did aquatic PT rehabbing a hip and my husband talked to him a few times, being a man he got done in the locker room faster, so he was waiting in the lobby area

I'd cut him right now.  Ray Rice obviously has enough good will and money to keep another season.  Deonte was weed, which is a forgivable sin, but this is absolutely unacceptable.

Cut Deonte as well.  Not like he was carrying around a dime bag.
