They've been cutting players since the season ended.  Smith, Vilma, Harper, and Greer saved them almost 20 million in 2014, and Moore and Sproles almost another 6 million.

They were projected to be over the cap a ton before those moves I believe (around $15 million over the cap I think). Those moves were made to get under the cap and so they could pony up a contract for J. Graham, which is why this move is surprising.

I wonder if they're going to be able to re-sign anyone like Strief or BDLP

Jarius Byrd deal

6 years 54 million 28 Guranteed. WOW!

FS market is now dried. Unless we convert a CB to S, we will be drafting one in the draft this year.

I'm thinking this deal is majorly backloaded and their cap in like 2017 or 2018 is a total mess at this point.

Chris Clemons. I will continue to repeat that name over and over

not really there is Chris Clemons, Thomas Decoud, kendrick lewis there are options but if the ravens need one they better move fast.

I was reading a tweet that they're kicking the can down the road, but once they get to the end of the road, they're going to be screwed majorly

I tried to find footage on him and couldn't, so if any has some footage I would like to see some.

Yeah they did the same thing with Brees - we did it with Flacco, but Flacco's 6 years younger than Brees.

I'm not sure where you can find any. He's not a play maker at all, but he's very solid in coverage and does not allow plays

The Flacco deal isn't looking too bad with the salary cap increases, which just speaks volumes of Ozzie. Plus, Joe said he'd restructure and work to help the Ravens out. Brees took massive amounts of money and caused lots of cuts to clear the money for him, similar to what's happening with Graham

Yeah but even still, Joe's deal at one point hits 28 million against the cap - that's never going to happen, because they'll just extend him, and they can do it because this deal ends when Joe is in his 30s.  But in Brees' case, the Saints can't really extend him too much - his deal ends in 2017 and he'll be 38 then.  So unlike us, other teams keep having to purge their rosters continually to make room for these kinds of signings.  Which is why we're able to lock down players like Monroe and possibly make a play for a more under the radar safety like Clemons.

If we don't get a FS we want in Free Agency I wouldn't be all that surprised if we went after the bama boy Clinton-Dix in the 1st. Calvin Pryor is also a beast. They both fit Ozzie's description of an athletic safety. If we didn't sign Monroe I think we almost certainly would've gone after Lewan out of Michigan but now it looks more likely that we go WR or FS.

is nick collins still a possibility?

He hasn't played in almost 2 years and when he retired they said the neck injury was career ending.  Ed Reed dealt with those kinds of neck issues at the end and we all saw how it affected his game.

Yeah I thought Byrd would go high. Monroe shocked me with how cheap he went. We will see what Daryl goes for although it is not looking good for us keeping him.

Saints have hardly any money to spend, and they overspend on a safety.

Crazy.

how bout Brees O-line whoch they will lose 3 starters from Just stupid they have 3.2 million in cap how in the hell are they even going sign rookies and Byrd's deal. alot guys gonna get cut for no reason on that team. WELL OVERPAID for Byrd. no reason for that at all.

Yeah Daryl really worries me right now. D'Qwell and Dansby both got a lot more than I thought they would.

*Both were overpaid by sucky franchises.. One being a playoff team because they got lucky that the best QB prospect since Elway was in the same draft class as they were the #1 overall pick.

I could see a team like Denver take him from us. He is a really good WILL and is great in coverage. I also am not going to stop bringing up that team in DC because he would be a great fit there.

He's definitely a MIKE, not a WILL.
