Free Agents To Consider: Defense

Let's get Revis because apparently he's getting cut!

P.S. Don't neg me...........I'm totally kidding.

If only Ozzie were that ballsy. Or if they had that much cap space.

I definitely think Revis will shake up free agency. Now, if you're truly looking at a defensive back, Byrd dropped his asking price

Perfect Example of Terrible Management:

Pay 1st Round Pick (Sheldon Richardson), 4th Round Pick, and $16 Million for 10 month rental of a CB (Not a QB).

Different management wants different things.

With all this talk about Corey Graham being linked to the Giants and Redskins I think he might be gone. Although Redskins are closing in on Talib apparently (Rotoworld).

Might need to nab a cheap CB to compete with Chykie and Asa.

Cortland Finnegan?

I don't know why Mike Mitchell isn't under heavier consideration.  Seems a good fit.

He was on my list but the main problem is his lack of experience.  He was on a very very good Carolina Defense last year which is his only year we can base his play off of.

A lot of players have one good year and then fall off afterwards.  Some are simply inflated by the team they are playing on.  Having a one year wonder (as of now) as our starting safety wouldn't be a good idea.

Dolphins signed Louis Delmas, so their interest in Jairus Byrd was just like their interest in Monroe: not real, or they like signing lesser rate talents. Byrd has apparently dropped his asking price to $8 million per season. I wonder if Ozzie is considering him because he is most definitely the playmaker free safety that the Ravens would be looking for.

In other news, the Ravens have an offer on the table for Daryl Smith, but the sides remain far apart. Thanks D'qwell Jackson.

And Delmas' deal was 3.5 million for one season, so that doesn't help Byrd any.

That's a lot, actually. Delmas just played his first healthy season and it's not like he's outstanding as a free safety. I would have much rather bought Clemons back

3 million on a one year "prove it" deal for a solid/proven starting safety is nothing which is why the Phins picked him up instead of spending a lot more cash in a long term deal on Clemons. They already have one of the highest paid safeties in the league. Good move by Miami.

Evan at that price it's a high risk move, Delmas is really injury prone and will miss games. What is the market like for Clemons?

He'll probably get loads of offers. The only good cover safety out there is Byrd and he's looking for 10+ mil. per year, which he's definitely not getting unless somebody is REALLY desperate. I'd say Clemons gets around 5 mil. per year on a long term deal. And compared to Byrd that's a steal, you're getting a solid cover safety who still has 3-4 good years left in the tank.

Byrd is dropping his asking price to $8 million, so not sure where you got your figure.

Clemons isn't someone I've heard a peep about and I'd imagine he'd go for not much more than Delmas, but he's a damn sure coverage safety. Not a play maker, but really good in coverage.

Delmas at $3.5 is a lot. He hasn't proven durable or as solid in coverage as Clemons. Pay for a proven product at a slightly higher price or pay for an injury prone safety who played in a putrid secondary?

What are you talking about "not sure where you got your figure"? Did you talk to Byrd yesterday or how do you know he is dropping his asking price? The latest news out there is that he is looking for more than 8 mil. per year, that's what Breer posted on Twitter.

Word is that Jairus Byrd's asking price has scared some teams off. He's looking for more than $8 million per year, and may well get it.

And again, the Dolphins already tied up a loads of money on one of their safeties. Why would you question this move anyway? Don't you think they know what Clemons is worth to them and how he played? They obviously wanted to move on because he's looking for more than they're willing to pay him. And they should know if he's worth that money, shouldn't they?

thats that dolphins logic. lets bring in a injured player to replace a good one. they had karlos dansby they let him go and got overpaid ellerbe and now replacing chris clemons with Delmas they downgraded to me and he's a injury prone player. but hey its dolphins logic!

Aaron Wilson ‏@RavensInsider 24m

Sources predict Arthur Jones will sign with the Indianapolis Colts as soon as today. Expected between $6 million and $7 million per year

:( :(

I wish he could stay, but I'm happy for Art.  If there's one guy that deserves a contract like this, it's him.  He's put in the work and earned it.  One of the classiest guys off the field as well.

I'm on mobile and honestly not sure how to quote a tweet. If someone would tell me how, I gladly would

I saw $9 million as the starting price, but I saw that got dropped to $8 million. I'll find the tweet if I can figure out how to post it in the blue box.

Oh, you mean the same Dolphins who massively overpaid for Mike Wallace, Philip Wheeler, and let Dansby go for Ellerbe? Oh, okay

What does one have to do with the other? They didn't have any receivers or linebackers, of course they had to overpay to get somebody. Has nothing to do with Clemons and their safety position. They already have a Pro Bowl type safety who they had trouble re-signing with and who they gave a huge contract to. Whatever, let's move on from this.
