Wesley Woodyard to the Titans - 4 years, $16M.  I'd be alright with giving Daryl around $4M per year for 2-3 years.

Well as soon as I said that, I heard Aaron Wilson on the radio.  He said that the Ravens have moved on from Daryl Smith, but would entertain talks again if he lowers his asking price.  :(

Does anybody know of any safeties that will probably be cap casualties?

Now that we have re-signed our own guys I believe we will go for other team's free agents.

Wow great deal to get him back. 4.025 mil per is still a really good deal for him and thank goodness noone else bid on him. That is a solid deal for Smith

I think antrelle Rolle is a possibility. Giants resigned Stevie brown. He's their guy for the future. Will depend on his health. If you see the giants get a depth safety. Look for that cut.

He's a strong safety. Don't they still have Will Hill?

I almost wonder if it shouldn't be addressed in the draft? Clinton Dix, Calvin Pryor and Jimmie Ward seem very capable

I agree with you that it should be addressed in the draft. Out of those three I personally like Clinton-Dix the best. Pryor delivers big hits, but if you watch his tape he just lunges at players and doesn't seem to wrap up too much. Clinton-Dix is also from Alabama so that's a + for Ozzie. He fits the bill of a "rangy safety" and has excellent closing speed on the ball. I hope he makes it to us at pick 17 because I don't see another option at this point for us at FS other than maybe Chris Clemons, but we have yet to even talk to him.

Little-to-no activity: There was some noise from the Eagles, Jets and Steelers camps, earlier in the week, about Chris Clemons; although, currently, he's not on anyone's immediate radar.

Either Clemons or former Atlanta Falcon, Thomas DeCoud, are the best available free safeties, at this point. Chris Clemons is the safer pick, as he's a reliable safety in coverage, while DeCoud is the bigger gamble (1 interception in 2010, 4 in '11, 6 in '12 and none last year, as he fell completely off-the-map.). Clemons would be a nice pick-up; low price and at least the Ravens will get someone who can cover deep.

Clemons is clearly the best remaining option out there, but it doesn't sounds like we're interested.  He doesn't fit that rangy playmaker that Ozzie described at season's end.  I'd be more than alright with a solid coverage guy that doesn't make mistakes, but judging by Ozzie's comment and the lack of interest in really all FS's that were on the market, I'd venture a guess that HHCD, Pryor, or Ward will be manning the spot next to Elam come August.

A rookie safety, next to a safety with one season of experience. I don't like that at all.

True, but Clinton-Dix is regarded almost universally as the top prospect and I really don't know that he falls to 17. I have seen a few mock drafts with St. Louis and Chicago both taking FSs at 13 and 14. It really is a thin position this year, and the few that make the elite class are demanding too much money (like Byrd)

I'm not too keen on it myself, but what other options do we have at this point?  None of the top remaining guys on the market fit the description by Oz.

Only Clinton-Dix would fit the description of a tall (relatively) free safety. Both Ward and Pryor are shorter than Clemons actually (Dix is about as tall as Clemons). Ugh, I do think that Clinton-Dix looks like a solid player (nothing special though), but I really don't want yet another underperforming Bama guy. That stupid Alabama connection is Ozzie's one big weakness.

Trade for Earl Thomas to fill up the FS spot

Not happening. I think the Seahawks have said he's a higher priority than Sherman at this point.
