Free Agents To Consider: Offense

1,190 posts in this topic

Because of the value (low cost, young, proven) outweighing the concerns (injury), I wouldn't mind bringing in Sidney Rice on the cheap. He is 27 years old and would benefit from Flacco's Arm.

2 Smiths, 2 Rices

Barring an injury to someone we have, I think we are pretty much done for now with FA WRs. Too much WR talent in the draft and like you pointed out before we sorely need line depth.

I totally agree with this. I think the current situation of the OL is the most concerning part of our offense. Everyone breaths a sigh of relief after we got Monroe back, but there are many holes in that OL and many uncertainties. We should be more active in FA, just for the sake of creating more depth.

We paid Flacco Tom-Brady-type-money, we probably should give him a Tom-Brady-type-OL.

Puuleassse Oz, build a formidable O line!

Ok I  don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth and realize that the cap is a finite entity. With that said I am not sure anybody has even looked at Donald Penn. He is apparently not in demand and is still an enormous human being. He has the size you want in a RT. I mean Tiny Richardson would be a younger version and I would love it either way. Just something to think about I guess.

I don't expect them to address that. My guess they're hoping Haloti is healthy and Lewis Moore and Williams can play well in Arthur's absence.

I think they may have to address the defensive line. If we could get our hands on a solid north tackle it would only do wonders for a guy like Haloti . Keeping Haloti fresh is the only way  he's going to stay effective and he can't continue to be dominate seeing as much snaps as he did last year.

Eric Winston. Signing has vet minimum written all over it, he is familiar with Kubes system, and even said a glowing endorsement of Kubes earlier this year after we inked him.  So what if it is a stop gap, it is a stop gap that will work now and more importantly cheaply.

Zach Strief is off the market, and for only $4.1 million per year, or less than Michael Oher. I wish we had talked to Strief.

Strief was set on going back to NO.  Apparently he wouldn't even consider other teams.

Really? That's surprising. Good for him. Nice to see a strict team pride every once in a while

I think someone else pointed this out, but I'm not sure where. I'm surprised to see the Ravens "haven't shown interest" in a center. BDLP is the best option on the market and it's surprising to see zero about him. Ozzie said he wanted to improve the interior offensive line and the free safety position, but so far, we've heard zilch about either.

This strike anyone else as odd given how weak the draft class for both positions is?

I just read that the rookie cap is only expected to be about $1-$2 million, so the Ravens will have $8-$7 million to play with. That's enough to at least get a center.

Maybe their trying to carry over money for next season

I don't think it's necessary for us to put on a billboard every player we are interested in possibly signing.  I haven't heard the names of some of these centers come up as part of anyone's radar.  Why would we show our hand and give agents a bargaining chip to work with in negotiations with other clubs?  Remember all the talk last year about how we were interested and pursuing Daryl Smith?  No?  That's because there was no talk about it.  Look how that worked out.  Free Agency period last like another 150 or 160 more days.  Take a breath.

Yup I agree. Its glaringly obvious the biggest priority is our online. We're going to find one or two in the FA and double that up w/ draft.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Ravens draft Zach Martin he can play all along the line.

Since Weeden brushed the Ravens off I'd love to see the staff look at Fitzpatrick or Campbell if the dollars make sense..

Think it was the other way around after playing against him for 2 years.

Not missing out on much.

Yeah but to be fair you'd call a six-foot pole an improvement over Flacco.

look hardbaugh, I am not the biggest joe flacco fan around. I think he is horrendously overpaid and will always be inconsistent but he is a bit better then some of the names you have put out there.

Flacco is probably between 14th to 17th best QB out there but he can make plays. We have to build a team for him and not build the team around him. He isnt a tom brady who can make anyone look good. He needs talent to bail him out! hopefuly we can do that for him this season.

I'm in agreement with your post.

I'm not saying either are better but a veteran arm needs to be brought in and the Ravens need to keep an eye open for a developmental prospect in the draft incase Flacco soils himself again this season.

he's the best quarteback we've every had and you just hate everything about him.  we would not have won the superbowl without him.  he's here for the foreseeable future.  get over it and stop whining.

Don't talk to him. He's the same guy who started a thread hating on Flacco for not picking up the phone on a Friday during his offseason. Sounds like he was out with the family

Flacco isn't a free agent so he's not going to help the offense in that way. Let's keep the topic on-track. No reason to be disrespectful to the rules here. If you want to talk about Flacco, make a Flacco hate thread. I don't want to read it here.

Classic do as I say not as I do mentality. Accuse another member for being off topic while you yourself veer.

I'm not being being disrespectful of the rules and I never have been in my time here.   My post has free agent back ups I'd like to see brought in.

This is about free agents to consider ,offense??? Is it not??

Your post and others are bordering on mob mentality to a member who has never attacked or disrespected anyone on this site.

Flacco has no bearing on the subject, so I fail to see a reason to bring him up. Perhaps if you want to bring up a replacement for Tyrod Taylor, then OK. I don't care if you bash him. Really doesn't bother me. Let's just not do it in this topic. I'm not attacking or disrespecting you. Not sure why you feel that way. I don't appreciate your accusations either. I didn't even use your name. I just read Flacco and saw he was being used in this topic and I'd really like to avoid getting this topic locked.

Edit: just looked at your post and I definitely wasn't talking to you. I'm not sure why you got offended by my comment as if I was talking to you. I just saw the post that made me make my post and it wasn't yours.

I honestly think we won't address RT. I think the team likes its options there. I see KO or Wagner starting at RT unless we draft one and I feel it's more likely we draft a LG than a RT.

Lmao at the hate this is getting. People complain about not having a good back, you mention getting a good backup, with no mention of Flacco(from what I see) and this is seen as trolling? Fitz or Campbell would be nice. Just so say Weeden. Wouldn't mind drafting a qb either in later rounds., but should try to pick up a vet.

I'd like center to be addressed in FA and draft a RT. I saw someone else mention this. If Mack would agree to a new contract with a trade, I would try to work something out(I'm not giving up on this yet). That would keep the core line together until KOs contract is up. This draft has good rt prospects and we should cash in for cheap. If a C is picked up before that gives the team a lot of leeway come draft time.
