Monroe is better than veldheer. Nuff said

i completely agree with you.  everyone out here in AZ is super stoked they got Veldheer, and no one ever even mentioned Monroe in the talks.  then again, when you had Levi Brown as your starting LT, a bag of cheetos is an upgrade

3 sacks.

2 in that horrendus weather game vs bears and 1 in his debut

Hes a very good left tackle

I have a much higher sacks allowed total on Monroe.

Don't like him, never have.  The record is clear.

so you are saying we should have gone after Veldheer and risk turning Monroe off to a deal with us completely, only to potentially not land Veldheer?  knowing what we know now about how the market unfolded, I suppose MAYBE that works, but still not smart all in all

The only risk with Veldheer is injury. He missed 11 games last year. For what he is about to become, the risk was more than worth the same price paid for Mediocre Monroe.  We will let the Sack totals and busted run plays in 2014 speak again for themselves.

Not even close, thats why Oz needs replaced.

We could have had Veldheer

Have a low opinion of Monroe, but will not say any more until the season. Will point out every sack he is instrumental in allowing. PFF won't agree but they haven't a clue.

He can't run block either. Have no idea what Oz was thinking.

You don't have to think PFF is great, but most analyst had Monroe as the number one free agent tackle and a top five overall free agent. That's very telling.

By the way, while PFF may not be the best site, they at least take days to review every single snap that a player takes. They break down all the technical aspects that I'm sure you don't understand for every single player. I know you'll tell me you record the games, but you'd be lying if you said you did that.

I'm also not sure how he's a bad run blocker when you consider that the Ravens averaged over four yards off Monroe, and that's really good when you consider that Rice and Pierce averaged a collective like 2.9 yards.

I also saw your comment about him allowing way more sacks, which is crap since I'm sure you don't factor in if Rice was supposed to block, if Flacco held onto the ball too long, what type of block it really was, etc.

I'm not going to argue with you since I really think you like to troll and get negs, but I had to get that out

I'm not sure anyone will ever take you seriously when you hate on Monroe, but heap praise on Oher

Really this guy...can he be more negative. I really believe he just likes to stir the pot. Get a little conversation going. What I really believe would get gigged and I would be reprimanded by the (hinnie) police.

Will you point out every time he stops a sack? Every time he assists in some way? I doubt it, since that would tarnish "this fans" high opinion of "this fan"

He's the Skip Bayless of the BR.com board.

Our #1 priority is still our Oline

We need to grab at least a viable center& guard or

center & rt

The prices will drop fr those FA that has sat w/o a deal for this past week.

Who do we grab?

I like Montgomery and DLP for center and Wade Smith for LG with some center ability as well.

I always viewed Big Mike Oher as a Pro Bowl Calibre guard and just an OK Tackle .. Glad we didn't give him 20m

Always thought the same and mad we never tried it. I felt it would help his false start problem and seems like he'd be a straight mauler. His frame just seemed better suited for it.

I think we go after DLP and also sign Eric Winston as a RT vet min.  He knows Kubes system and loves him as a coach

Cmon now, Monroe isn't going to make anyone here forget about Ogden, but he is pretty solid. He's in my top 10 (barely), but he is still young and studious enough to fulfill the potential that he has flashed over the last couple years

I really don't want Winston honestly. I'd rather draft a guy or put KO at RT

Veldheer I think has the potential to be better than Monroe, but that's risky. I also think Monroe will fit what the team wants to do scheme wise better than Jared. For the zbs I think you need more athletic guys and feel Monroe fits the build better. Anyway, we'll have to wait and see how it works out, but I think Ozzie made a good choice and the signing was a good price.

Go for De La Puente, Clemons, and call it an offseason

I dont understand the hype behind clemons. His a avg cover guy and non-existant in run-d. He also had a ton of interferrence calls thrown his way.

I'd take Puente on a short deal though

Me neither. I would've preferred Stevie Brown. At this point, I think it makes more sense to just draft one and accept the growing pains.

He was pretty solid in coverage. He only allowed 13 receptions all year. I didn't watch the Dolphins much, but I'd imagine he'd be used more in man coverage on tight ends given the state of the linebackers.

He's not a real flashy guy who will make plays, but he's solid in not allowing them. I also like that he's a hybrid, so it allows you to disguise coverages a little more

At 6'4 .. Strong like an Ox and as durable as they come, that's a perfect guard right there, he would have been a road grader. He just doesn't have it between the ears to play Tackle. Far too many missed assignments and false starts.

He allowed 11 catches on him last year, he is top ten coverage FS. Isn't that what we need?

Ebron is a no-brainer.  It is whether he is taken by the time we pick.

I sure hope the Steelers don't pick him ahead of us just to burn us.

We certainly need more weapons and since Kubiak will use 2 TE sets a lot we need better depth.

I don`t see a reason why Pitta should stop us … 2 TEs Sets or Pitta working out of the slot is always a option!  And I know a lot people don`t want to hear that but if Ebron is better we could always trade Pitta later!

but you guys forget that in a two tight end system you need a blocking tight end. Pitta doesn't block and Ebron doesn't really either. I think Ebropn will be good in the NFL but we need a blocking tight end

I really don't know much about him but does Owen Daniel fit the bill. Just throwing that out there because coach Kubiak would know all of his strengths and weaknesses. Thoughts?

He doesn't block particularly well, and that's likely what we need since Pitta is the same.  I'd be open to the idea, but I'd much rather have a more complete TE that can block and catch rather than a second guy who doesn't block really.
