Free Agents To Consider: Offense

1,190 posts in this topic

Time for an upgrade at center and to re-sign/replace Oher, and we'll be set. The depth will take care of itself.

I still think we should make a serious run at Mack now, and sign Eric Winston for RT.  He knows Kubiak's system and loves Kubiak as a coach, he would be a perfect veteran guy to challenge any of our young guys, and should they not step up, he can start for us.

My thoughts exactly. Across the board I feel fairly comfortable at every position. We kept all our Free Agents which secures many spots (Especially LT). But ... We do have only 1 TE and I would LOVE to see us draft Ebron to compliment Pitta. But if he's taken, Lee is a favourite of mine; When you watch his film .. He finishes every play he can, he's a natural baller.

There aren't many others here that seem to like Lee like I do.  He is fast, cuts well, and has sure hands.  Ebron on the other hand is a beast.  I seriously doubt that teams will be able to stop a 2 TE set with he and Pitta on the field at the same time. He is an very good blocker and can help the outside running game.

I tend to think that Smith would be a very good person to learn from if we drafted Lee.  Also, I think if we could get Ebron we have to pull the trigger.  We would have 2 TE sets for the next 4-5 years that would be unstoppable.

I absolutely love Marqise Lee. The way he attacks the football with sure hands and finishes plays at an exceptional level simply cannot be overlooked. He reminds me of a young Reggie Wayne .. He will be a star for whatever team gets him.

However, Ebron is a physical specimen. Pair him with Pitta in the TE friendly scheme that Kubiak runs; We will have a special combination that will be tough to cover.

All the start-able OTs will be gone by the time we pick. We also don't need a SS. I say we trade down to low 1st, get an extra late 2nd, and grab a FS (Pryor in 1st since Dixon will be gone) and Matthews in the 2nd round along with role players. I'd also love Ebron in the 1st, but that'd leave FS as a major hole unless Omar can step up.

I think Zach Martin could be a starting right tackle, honestly

Ebron is a no-brainer.  It is whether he is taken by the time we pick.

I wonder who the FO is going to peruse now in FA... Anyone knows or has a clue? It's been a pretty good day with Daryl and now Steve....

I always thought Oher was a bit under appreciated considering how many times he switched positions without complaint, but he's not $20M under appreciated.

Michael Oher signed with the Titans for 4 years, $20M.

HAHAHAHA

So the Titan's offense next year will have this as their theme song?

I always viewed Big Mike Oher as a Pro Bowl Calibre guard and just an OK Tackle .. Glad we didn't give him 20m

Sweet now Ozzie can't make a bad move and resign him. Now lets go get a quality tackle

And we can reap the comp pick next year!!

Yeah, he's a lot better than what he is given credit for.  But a telling remark came from John Ogden when he was asked about his thoughts on Oher;  To paraphrase, he said he has all of the physical talent to be great, but just doesn't  execute. Seems he was trying to say, in a nice way, that Oher just didn't have a good football IQ.

No more WRs for us:

Sources say Ravens won't double up at receiver and try to pursue Julian Edelman. They've moved on with Steve Smith signing

No surprise.  Seems like it was Smith or Edelman all along, with Sanders option #3.

The draft is too good this year. no need to look desperate with doubling up. You won't see me complaining with just smitty!

I disagree. He's not as good of a blocker as you'd want from someone his size and he's got inconsistent hands. I go to Virgnia Tech and one of my friends watched him for years and really dislikes him. I'll talk to him about why when I get back, but the two biggest reasons are what I said

Only if he agrees to change his last name to Smith.

De Le Puente will just have to become the most bad-butt middle name in the NFL

Either him or Will Montgomery, to be frank. De La Puente is the better pass blocker, whereas Montgomery is solid at run blocking (although, he's not that much of a pass blocker); however, Montgomery is use to playing in a ZBS scheme.

de la puente is pretty good at run blocking and is a MUCH better pass blocker and is only 28.

seems like a no brainer..right?
