Free Agents To Consider: Offense

I agree with a lot of your points but i think you've really hit the nail on the head when you said, "its hard to get the ball to everyone let alone your 4th or 5th read". I think that's all he would be for us. Honestly, i believe there are better alternatives out there than Lance Moore, if that's the direction you wanted to go. For Veteran Minimum, I think we could bring in Kenny Britt for a year as a "prove it to me" kinda deal. I'd even be willing to spend a little more on a guy like Andre Roberts - who's really been flying under the radar lately - big body, athletic, slot receiver who can make big plays on 3rd down. Jerome Simpson could be an interesting fit in the slot. I think even bringing back a guy like Doss would be a better option than Lance Moore.

My ideal strategy for WR though would be to wait until teams start making roster cuts because of all the young talented Wr's about to enter the league. Some really good players are gonna be replaced with these younger, cheaper, more talented rookies. That's where Ozzie makes his bread and butter picking up the scraps and cast offs of bad teams, polishing them up and turning them into a shiny new Lombardi Trophy. But since this thread is about signing players already out there - if i had to target 2 players I'd go after Jacoby Jones or Andre Roberts then draft a rookie.

I actually heard that Kenny Britt would be a Raven last year. I even reported it here during the early part of the season. I would love to see it happen.

And how did that turn out?  I'm pretty sure Britt never wore purple and black.

i remember it too. Seems like it came from an inside source. It never materialized but that doesn't mean that it wasn't talked about.

Looking back at the end of the year press conference, it seems liked Ozzie was completely convinced that he will get the WR he wants this offseason. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Britt he's talking about, and I wouldn't be surprised if

Britt was a Raven by next Friday

That was a shot at SeaHawk's "source" that he keeps on bringing up.  Yet, that "source" has never been correct about anything he's posted.  Thus, his "source" is a ploy for attention.

Hey guys what y'all think about Phil DeCosta coming in at C? Word is he is getting released.

We can do better especially with the money we'll have if Monroe isn't coming back.

Yes he should

He creates little to no separation. I would much rather have a Marqise Lee, OBJ, or Brandin Cooks in the slot over Marlon Brown.

Eric Decker will cost too much but would make a great slot receiver with Pitta on the other side of the line.  I am all for drafting a big guy like Evans or Ebron, too.  Lee, Cooks, and others have the speed that we could use as the 2nd WR.  Too bad Ozzie will probably go OL in the first round.

Lance Moore impressed me as a funny guy doing the Key & Peele Mckringleberry TD dance. Youtube that if you've never seen it.

Its touchdown dance Inception. An NFL celebration, from a comedy skit celebration, about NFL celebrations.

Was my favorite dance of the season cause of the Key & Peels skit. Stills throwing the towel and then them actually getting flagged just topped it off.

Add Darren Sproles to the list of possible RB FA

Over 30 with multiple concussions.  No thanks.

Jeff Cumberland re-signed with the Jets for 3 years.  Whoever brought him up… your dreams are now shattered.

He was an UDFA coming off an ACL tear, but you want him to be quick and generate lots of separation? Oh, okay.

He's not great with back shoulder fades, struggles with tracking the ball over his shoulder, and isn't the best with body control. He is, however, fearless going over the middle and very tough

One of the reasons why we sucked last year was because the receivers couldn't get open, so having a speedster who runs great routes in the slot will help more. I do like Marlon Brown but he should be playing outside and slot in the red zone

I'd like to make a suggestion. Instead of just posting a name, it would be very helpful to those of us who don't really keep up with other teams if you also posted the player's position and last/current team. Any other details such as age/experience would also be welcome.

I've been saying since the SD/Cin playoff game sign Rich Ornberger(C-G) to a contract to help with our interior line play either as depth or a chance to start at center. An under the radar guy who can probally be had for cheap.

I also like Joiqie Bell(RB). I believe he's an FA.

Ben Tate from the Houston Texans is a 25 yo bruising RB. He grew up on Maryland's Eastern Shore and still has upside.

Bruising? Tate? He's a one dimensional speed back who can't stay healthy and needs an elite O-Line to produce. Pass. We're set at RB.

You can't be serious. I'd rather have a shoe play Center for us.

Really? I just thought that he's a veteran presence who knows how to make line calls and adjustments. I also thought he kept one of the best offensive lines in San Francisco together with his knowledge on the field. He'd be equivalent to Birk in my mind. Maybe not the best physical presence, but his knowledge would be invaluable

But Birk was still playing at a high level, he was very smart and good in pass protection, he knew what the defense was going to throw at us. Goodwin is just old. He's not a terrible run blocker but he struggles a lot with pass protection. I don't mind bringing him in for depth because I think he can play Guard as well, but I really don't want a guy like that starting at C for us this season. We need somebody to really hold that spot down and do a decent job in protection and also push the pile in the running game.

BTW: I accidentally voted your post down when I tried to quote you.
