I think Steve Smith could still be an option depending on the price, but that would probably mean no WR in the 1st.

I think we have to see Jacoby's contract $$s first though.

I guess that means no Edelman or Steve Smith? We still need a slot WR though... we can't stand pat at WR, we need to IMPROVE.

ravens still interested in steve smith. but proabably ends Julian Edleman talk

Edelman and Steve Smith are slot receivers.

Bucs release Revis, lets go get him. He and Smith as our corners with Web moving to free Safety. Revis and Smith - we would have 2 shutdown corners.

Woohoo! It's amusing to watch SC because they just claimed Jacoby is still out there.

Now they won't mention him because he is a raven. The hate will continue!

I was stating that the way we do, in the position with this team, I don't think we will be throwing it too much, more of balanced attack thats all i'm saying.

It's cool, sorry if it seemed I was directing my post totally at you...I've seen several people imply that essentially we're not going to be throwing the ball at all under Kubiak.

Yeah, I don't think we're going to be Denver all of the sudden, but even though Kubes relies on a strong running game to set up the pass, I think we'll be throwing the ball a lot, just more effenciently, and not all of those low percentage bombs.

:oldwiseman: Steve Smith before Edelman

Maybe a few years ago but not this year. Edel is probably better at this point and age alone makes him a better option.

If we get Mack with a healthy KO, we'll have one of the best lines in the league even if we put someone average at RT.

Monroe / KO / Mack / Yanda / Wagner....

Health permitting, that would be a very good OL, on paper

If anyone thinks Jacoby takes us out of the running for other receivers:

Ravens remain quite interested in WR Julian Edelman. Pats want him back too. Other teams in the mix.

Lol yeah i feel u on the deep throws, we just wasn't hitting on them last year.

I wonder how realistic this Alex Mack talk is. How high would we have to go to outbid those other teams with so much more cap room? Would we have to sacrifice any chance at other signings (D. Smith, S. Smith)?

If we offer a front loaded contract or a large signing bonus there is no way cleveland can match especially the way they are tossing $$$ atm but of course Ozzie will NOT overpay a FA.

Of course some other team might decided to just hand him a redonk contract.

God please let Edelman go the Pats and let someone else sign Oher before Ozzie makes another stupid deal (Jones wasn't worth it with Holiday released.)

Id put Mack over D.Smith. Look no team will be without a weakpoint. FOr us it might be MLB but we need this offensive line to do a 180.

Go get Steve Smith. Yea hes older. But so was boldin. The FO and some fans thought we could live without Anquan due to his subpar regular season numbers. We were wrong. We missed his toughness and leadership...things that are at the heart of this Ravens organization. Steve Smith is all of that.

My wish lust from here on out is this

1.somehow get Mack

2.Steve Smith

3.draft Mike Evans who you can use as a hybrid TE/WR like Jimmy Graham

4. Use the 2nd round on OL

5. Find a FS somewhere...

It is realistic, but I still think unlikely. Of course, it would cause us to sacrifice other signings ... not all other signings, but there will be a deal or two that won't be made if we go with Mack over some of the other center options.

I think the critical take away from our interest in Mack is this: The organization doesn't view Gino as a starting option, now or in the future. Otherwise, they wouldn't be seeking a young player who is in the top 5 in the league.

Therefore, if we don't get Mack, this signals to me that we won't be looking for a mid-30s 1-2 year stop gap player at center, but will turn our attention to De La Puente or Dietrich-Smith.

Would anyone be open to bringing Weeden in as a backup or does everyone think Tyrod is far better? I have no opinion on this just wondering

Weeden is water trash.  Tyrod at least has something dynamic about his game.

 De La Puente or Dietrich-Smith.

I think if we get De La Puente he will be very surprising. Of course Mack is still a far better option.

Id love to bring him in.

Saw flashes of good play from weekend and I think if he was anywhere but Cleveland he may of had something..

I had been focused on De La Puente, because I thought Mack was a pipedream. Perhaps he isn't ... but the question will be, will we be better off with Mack, or De La Puente, Owen Daniels and Steve Smith?

Now, obviously, I don't know that signing Mack will prevent those two other signings, I just threw them out there as general examples, but you get my drift. Mack over De La Puente will cost us more and will therefore cost us a guy or two that we otherwise may get.

But again - I think our approach is signaling that the FO isn't aligned with Birk's sentiment (that Gino is the guy for the future).

If Daryl isn't re-signed and we got Mack instead, I don't think MLB would necessarily be a weak point with Rolando McClain coming back and Arthur Brown starting.

I would NOT give Rolando McClain the start even if he does come back, which is unknown. I would be some what okay heading into the season with McClellan and Brown starting though.

I here ya, but if he has a great pre-season, it would be hard to ignore.

Golden Tate: 5 years $31M ...

I know there are those among us who wanted him, but wow! I am stunned by that price tag. I didn't think he would draw that kind of contract.

I know we've had 3 Ravens arrests, and they'd probably be weary about bringing him back, but it does seem like he wants to change. With the tiny contract he commands, they wouldn't have anything to lose.
