Free Agents To Consider: Offense

I prefer Steve Smith. Steve Smith is an Anquan Boldin type receiver. He's hard-nose, he'll run block and he'll go up and get the ball! We have a good amount of young receivers on our team at this point and to add a veteran to that mix wouldn't be a bad look at all. It looks like Carolina wants to part ways with him and we're looking for a vet-savvy receiver. I know Steve is starting to get up there in age but all we need is someone to polish our young guys(minus Smith) for the next 2-3 seasons and our receiving core will be dirty. Having Torrey at 1, Smith at 2 and Marlon at 3 with a healthy Pitta. If our O-line can protect Joe our passing attack would be fun to watch.

I agree with you now I would definitely want Steve Smith, at the time I had no idea he would be released, but he would give us the physicality that Boldin brought, veteran leadership, and some much need explosion.

that why they said the ravens make the most sense for him. and we do play carolina next year too. and i think it would be fun to watch steve smith and t sizzle jaw in practice. plus Bucs QB situation is up in the air and oakland is horrible so the ravens it is.

Yep. It makes too much sense for him not to come here.

YES! the ravens are still in for ALEX MACK!

On Alex Mack? Yes. Ravens, too. RT @Steve_Cardenas: @RapSheet Are the Colts one of those teams?

With Monroe's low cap #'s the next few years, it could be doable. If we do that, Jacoby and Daryl are definitely out of the question though. Would hate to see them leave. Then again, they are already unlikely to return as it is so guess it doesn't matter. I'd pull the trigger.

That would be FANTASTIC, but I imagine the Browns will match any offer made to Mack, unfortunately.

If they keep dishing out expensive contracts (or if they acquire Revis), there could be an opportunity there.

Ebron is worth #17, in fact he probably won't even be there. I would put it past Ozzie to trade back for Amaro though. I have a feeling though if Ebron is gone we will address TE in the second round, still some solid talent at that position available at that point

Ravens need a blocking tight end, I agree here I would much rather wait for that kid out of Iowa in the third. Word is he is a much better blocker than Amaro or Ebron and he is still a huge guy at 6 foot 6. Could be a great blocker and huge in the mid game along with pitta. I think that would be a much better pick to help the TE positon for the Ravens and we wouldnt have to address that position until the 3rd round. He is also a senior and apparently is very nfl ready

Well with a new OC in Kubiak I doubt that would happen anyway. His philosophy doesn't include throwing the ball much.

Matt Schaub (of all people) has led the NFL in passing under Kubiak's offense. I'm not sure where this "Kubiak doesn't throw the ball" idea came about.

there is a chance to lure him away. by weird bonues and deal structures that the brown just be like um what the hell is this. and don't bother with it.

I would poop if we got Mack. I mean think of our line:

LT Eugene Monroe

LG KO

C Alex Mack

RG Marshal Yanda

RT Anyone one really.

Per Rotoworld

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports four teams have shown "varying levels" of interest in free agent C Alex Mack.

RapSheet mentions the Ravens and Colts as two of the teams interested in the 28-year-old. They're waiting for the "frenzy to die down" before making a run at Mack, who was slapped with the transition tag by the Browns. Indianapolis needs a center after releasing Samson Satele, while Baltimore needs an upgrade on Gino Gradkowski. Mack is arguably the best center in the NFL.

If I were in control..

I'd sign Steve Smith, Dietrich-Smith or Mack, Owen Daniels, and Oher/cap cut RT. Next, draft Clinton-Dix then Jordan Matthews, and Cameron Fleming. The RT position would be a heated battle between Oher (or the FA RT), Wagner, and a rookie.

LT - Monroe

LG - Osemele

C - Mack

RG - Yanda

RT - Oher/Wagner

TE1 - Pitta

TE2 - Daniels

WR1 - Torrey

WR2 - Marlon

WR3 - Jordan Matthews

Slot - Steve Smith

Scary when you put all of these pieces together with Kubiak

Mack is the most expensive item, but we have more than enough cap space to play with to get him. The only question is how hard we'd pursue Daryl Smith..

Stupid Colts go home.

How can they still afford to keep paying people? Overpaying McAfee, overpaying Jackson, Big money for Davis, Arthur Jones possibly Decker, now this? You gotta be kidding me

Exactly. One would think we could out bid them.

I was stating that the way we do, in the position with this team, I don't think we will be throwing it too much, more of balanced attack thats all i'm saying.

IF we could land Mack and Steve Smith through FA, I would be ecstatic! But I know it's a stretch and wishful thinking. Then we could just fill the rest of our holes through the draft.

I would still love to get Edelman or Pettigrew if we can't land Mack.

I guess that means no Edelman or Steve Smith? We still need a slot WR though... we can't stand pat at WR, we need to IMPROVE.
