Kind of getting tired of Monroe's shtick. Comes across like a guy that is only in it for the money, a la Jared Gaither. Whether he has a shot at winning a ring and all that doesn't seem to be too important to him. Everytime he talks it's basically "I'll be a FA and see who offers me the most money" instead of making re-signing with us a priority. He's gonna get a decent offer from us and he'll have a decent shot at getting a ring here I think. Way better than with a team like Miami. And money wise he'd still get paid very well here. But whatever, let him do whatever he feels like doing.

because that's not what very other player in the league does. Flacco was the highest paid qb a while, rice was paid massively, ray Lewis tested free agency, ray Lewis, ed reed, Suggs, ngata and Mcallister were all paid ago contract, that iirc, was the highest at their positions at that time.

Players want to get paid period. There is rarely, rarely, anything as home discount. The only player I know that genuinely has done it is Dominic Rioalia the center with the lions.

Of course- although the Pitta-bashers would disagree.

Are owners saying we should pay this guy the most money cause he's been great for the team? Hell no. He owes the Ravens nothing. He hasn't even been with the team a full season. Suggs signed a contract and the team basically said take a cut or get cut. Or to quote the great actor Beanie Sigel "Get down lay down". Why shouldn't he be more concerned abiut his financial security in a career where at any time you couldn't be unemployed? Also, what if he plain doesn't believe his best opportunity for a ring is on this team?

Think it would be different if he were a blocking TE...but be need blocking, and he isn't, and wont get the job done when it comes to that. Good LT's are harder to come by then TE's

Rarely? Look at Seattle. All their guys are going to stick around because they value winning over being paid a little more money. We're not talking about playing for free for a winning team. They just get paid a little less. And long term they'll probably get paid more because they'll have a better career, better stats and they'll not get cut the way they'd on a terrible team after a couple seasons a la Haynesworth and company. Look, I get that he's trying to get as much money as possible. But he comes across, again, like I guy who is only in it for the money. Like Gaither. He could handle it the way Art is handling it. Either not comment or just be open to returning. But not make it his first choice to leave and say no I want to see how much those other teams offer me first before I even consider returning to Baltimore.

Only Golden Tate said he'd take a discount. Michael Bennett said this isn't Walmart and he won't do a discount

If it has to be one or the other it's Monroe, of course, but Pitta is "easily replaced"? Anyone remember last year?

I think they mean he's easily replaced when you know you need a replacement going into FA and the Draft.

Well, sure, but it can also mean he's nothing special- which is a not uncommon sentiment in this thread. Just read the "Ed Dickson (with his 60 catches in four years) is just as good" posts.

So the Ravens just gonna act like my poll holds no merit?  That's what's really good in these streets Ozzie?

Looks like your poll is definitely wrong. Pitta re-signed and Monroe likely FA and getting overpaid elsewhere Love it that Pitta is staying, but would have liked to see Monroe stay too.

Well, Ozzie (sometimes) makes the mistake in paying a guy based on the market value instead of the player's value to the team.

Man I swear if we let Monroe walk.. our OL is average at best with him, without him we are in real bad shape. Building a strong OL is top priority, you could have a million playmakers on offense and it doesn't mean squat if we can't protect the QB. Everything starts up front, the OL needs an overhaul and it starts with getting Monroe on board long term.

i know FA hasnt even started but I'm going to look at the ravens situation without Bias.

We arent going to be good enough unless the following happens. I feel we need to draft Ebron and Jordan Matthews. in round 1 and 2 to really have an upgrade in attack.  IF WE retain Monroe, I will be way more positive about our situation. If worse comes to worst, Brandan Albert is a good LT. If we can get Albert and Alex Mack along with Ebron and matthews. we are set :)
