Over weed, lol wow give me a break.. half the league smokes in the offseason

LMAO!  Yeah, they probably do. But how many are riding around in a car at night with no headlights? Pretty dumb even if he was just a passenger.

Unfortunately true. Those most in need of leadership lack the capabilities to accept it.

Rather than looking for a reason why these things happen, we should simply hold adults accountable for their actions.

Very good observation. Sadly, though, accountability is seldom seen in today's society; no one wants to be accountable to anyone else, and it's always someone or something else's fault.

Sorry for the soliloquy, back to your regularly scheduled program...

I'm sure you can smoke during the season you just gotta be smart about it. How many get tested two times in a row?

And if you know the day before get a catheter and borrow some urine. If y'all watched playmakers back in the day y'all know what I mean.

I'll never understand athletes who continue to surround themselves with people who do nothing but bring them down... I hope he gets the help he needs.

Not just athletes, people in general.

Lets look it at this way: hardcore Ravens fans will know who he is, casual Ravens fans probable don't know who he is, bandwagon fans won't know who he is, and the rest of NFL fans will be like "huh?"  In the end, Thompson is really playing with chip on his shoulder, and there is no time for weed but working his butt off for the future.....

PS: It just doesn't look good for our organization.......

Deonte Thompson is making about 408K in total in 2012 so he doesn't have much of money comparing to other NFL players and for an average person, that is way more than enough.

And most people will still treat and talk about him like he is some junkie. There are more people in the NFL that smoke weed than don't. Still pretty stupid to be driving around without headlights on AND to be carrying that much in general, but it just baffles me how a marijuana arrest is being considered as bad or worst than someone ALLEGEDLY knocking their girlfriend unconscious.

Ray's action is far more serious but Deonte's situation could be worth more jail time if you or I did it.

Even though this really isn't a huge crime I still don't know why we are keeping him. Ok, he is fast, but I am positive there are free agents faster than him sitting at home. I don't think 15 catches in 3 years with the Ravens is very productive, and honestly we could do without him...seeing as we pretty much have

I highly doubt he makes the team anyway. But do we keep him through pre season then cut him? If we cut him now we are saying beating your wife is better then being friends with someone with weed only if you are a good player

I think the team should keep its focus on winning and make decisions based on that.

The team brought in Stokley rather than play Thompson. When Stokley wasn't in they played Marlon. That shows that Thompson missed the opportunity to make a place for himself so I think it's time from him to be released and try a different team.

I don't think it is a huge deal that he had marijuana as it is becoming more accepted and is probably going to become legal eventually but until then, the laws are the laws. Good to hear it is being reduced however.

According to Aaron Wilson, the charges have been dismissed.

Still, I wonder what this means for his future. The WR corps is pretty crowded with Torrey, Steve, Jacoby, Marlon, Mellette and possibly a draft pick.

Even though the charges were dropped (and rightfully so) I'm sure Harbaugh still isn't pleased overall.  He didn't technically break the law but he is hanging around people who do.  He got arrested and, even if you're doing no wrong, it still looks bad!

In his defense it'd have been a misdeamenor charge in maryland in about a year.

If I read Aaron's article correctly, the dufflebag was Deonte's but the drugs in it were not. When I said the dog ate my homework, I still go punished. Even though charges were dismissed, I'm guessing Harbaugh is not buying it. I for one don't expect Deonte to make the 53 come August.

I don't either, but at the same time, I don't think you can rule him out.  Assuming we draft a guy, that 6th receiver spot will likely come down to Mellette or Thompson.  Mellette has the obvious leg up based on draft position, performance last year, longer control for the team, better health, and no arrest record.  I don't find it likely at all that Thompson beats out Mellette, but at the same time, if he comes in and has a killer preseason, he could make that decision a lot closer than it is now.

I think it's pretty clear Torrey and Steve Smith as well as Jacoby Jones are locks for the roster. That's very, very evident. That's three guys already making the team unless something catastrophic happens.

1. Torrey Smith

2. Steve Smith

3. Jacoby Jones

Then we have Marlon Brown, who was very impressive last year. I can't see him getting cut. He could get injured and end up on the IR, but I think he'll make the team. I'm pretty confident he'll be one of those guys for us. I think he will play a big role as a third WR rotating with other players. His size and run blocking will get him on the field. That makes four WR positions pretty much already established, leaving only two slots realistically open. When you consider Mellette's impact before he went down, he could very easily establish that 5th WR role. I don't think his job is guaranteed. We saw what happened with TD Tommy and Tandon Doss. With that said, I think he'll likely make the team. That leaves one spot open.

I expect us to draft a WR and draft one pretty high at that. If we don't, then I think Thompson has a chance of making the 53. But the bottom-line is I expect us to draft a WR, meaning Thompson will likely be the odd-man out.

Well with the quality of WR's in this leagues draft, he may have just lost his chance at being on the roster in 2014.

As you implied, I would say that he still has a shot. But incidents like these almost always cause a player to take a step back and put their jobs at a slightly higher risk, especially with a bubble-guy like Thompson. The same can be said for the rest of the world.
