I don't watch it, but if you have time, I'm just curious at what the major differences between the NFL and CFL are? It could be something I could get into while waiting for the Ravens to start.

Off the top of my head, the field is wider and they only have 3 downs, so it's a lot of passing. Also the endzone is longer and thus so is the field. The goal post is in the middle of the endzone which I dont like but it is what it is. Only 9 teams. Season starts in June.

Teams:

BC Lions

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Saskatchewan Roughriders

Montreal Alouettes

Toronto Argonauts

Edmonton Eskimos

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Calgary Stampeders

Ottawa Redblacks

The Alouettes. Lamest name for a sports team ever. EVER.

I'll admit to liking the CFL - what did it for me was reading an article about the Saskatchewan Roughriders; I had already known of some of the talent in the CFL prior to this, specifically Condredge Holloway, so this just made me like this league all the more.

As for the Ottawa team name, this is Ottawa's third CFL team - their first one was also called the Rough Riders (two words), and it ended at the end of the 1996 campaign, and the second CFL side for the capitol was the Renegades, which lasted from 2002 to 2005.

The name "Alouettes" for the Montreal club reflects the Gallic flair, I believe, of the province of Quebec, where the club is located.

Very happy, indeed - Kory Sheets has now added his name to the legends and lore of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, with 197 yards rushing in the 2013 Grey Cup.

I still believe in the Roughriders.

Im from that dusty prairie province.  Saskatchewan went bananas for that Grey Cup game and week long festivities.  The organization went all in for that run knowing the game was played in Saskatchewan.

My niece's fiance', Erik Harris plays for the Hamilton Tigercats.  LB...  He is VERY GOOD. There is some YouTube stuff on him... I used to go to all the Stallion games at Memorial Stadium.

Kind of cool when you think about it...Baltimore teams have won an NFL Championship, Super Bowl, USFL Title and a Grey Cup.

Nice to see a real Baltimore football fan who knows your history. The Star's won it all with Jim, "playoffs, playoffs?" Mora. Much respect to a real "Homer" even in TX. I am in IL (WOW?). but was born and raised in Charm City. and when life called me away, I always knew where I was born. Colt's, Star's' Stallion's. Raven's and hey let's go arena. Much respect to a real fan. Note, was there on Sat. July 8, 1995 when the name of the team was announced against, San Antonio. It was a good night all around! Pleasure to hear from you, it was a great night for me and I still have the stub from it! Rock on brother, always!!

Bet Doug Flutie would disagree but C.F.L, will always be way cool! Rules aside Mike Pringle & Tracy Ham would tell you other wise, 33rd st. will always live with me, and yeah, Montreal. the "new" Stallions, go Alou's!! I mean, well, you know!! Keep rockin' it C.F L. we would have!!

Almost went back to back too.

The reason the Stallions were the most successful US team was simple, owner Jim Speros knew the game was different from the American one and hired players and coaches with CFL experience.  Other teams hired Forrest Gregg or Jack Pardee who I think were trying to make it into an alternative league.
