Just finished my tour out at Hickam AFB (Now joint base Pearl Harbor Hickam).

As for Ravens' fans.  Yes.

The locals LOVE Ray Lewis.  Literally Love.  I'm surprised they don't already have a replica statue of Ray to match M & T Bank.

Since there's such a large military population on Oahu you'll have get your rotating displaced fans.  I can't speak for the other islands because I stayed on Oahu the whole 3 years I was out there ( I know.. I screwed up...), but worry not.  You'll have Ravens friends for sure. 

 

As far as retiring goes, I'd personally recommend staying away from Oahu, especially Honolulu.  Hawaii is ridiculously over populated.  I've driven everywhere from LA to DC to Honolulu and I personally hate the traffic in Hawaii the worst.  LA and DC's drivers are far crazier.  Hawaii is much much slower.  Everything is on island time there, and island time is more of a crawl.  6 miles?  See ya in 3 hours.  Every.  Day.  Mind you there are no back roads or shortcuts.  There are 3 main roads.  if they get shut down for any reason (and it happens... floods, wrecks, etc.) then the island is basically shut down and you better get comfortable.

If you want city life, sure.  Oahu is great.  Clubs, bars, shopping, food, etc.  If you wanna retire near the beach and live a slow paced life style while eating free seafood.  Live either near North Shore or the Windward side of Oahu or another island.

How much is a gallon of milk in Hawaii?

On the plus side though, you can order Spam and Teriyaki basically anywhere....?  Want a spam teriyaki burger from McDonalds?  Ok done! 

Also, stay away from Poi.  It's a local delicacy... which means everywhere else in the world it's just gross.  Otherwise it'd be an everywhere delicacy. haha!
