Was the 2000 Defense the Best of All Time?

Why is this question still being asked 14 years later?

Probably has to do with the fact that it's 14 years later and there are more teams to look at. Like the 2006 Ravens and 2013 Seahawks. Hey, I could be wrong though.

Leading a team to a Super Bowl victory with Trent Dilfer at QB says it all

So that means our 2012 defense was special too

AH!

Just Kidding haha

Sam Adams was better than Goose was...

And I'll take Ngata in his prime over Goose. Ngata in his prime was the best in the league at what he did.....

I get all of that.  However, I'm not one for all of the constant comparisons of teams in different eras with different rules.  The Ravens 2000 defense was one of a kind and made history!  That group was special!  But that was 14 years ago!  The game was different then!  Rules were different then!

When a linebacker can tell his kicker and his running back to "get me three points and they can't beat us".  I would say that qualifies as the best.

This........ which holds true for players as well. Just as the Ravens D is the best, so is Johnny Unitas. He was an innovator, called his own game and popularized the pass game. Any comparisons between teams/players of different eras are subjective at best and indefinable. You have to look much deeper than stats and consider how they affected the game.

Or

"You score. You win. Period"
