The Raven

Revisiting the Jonathan Martin incident

Now a couple of days have come and gone. I have thought about it off and on and have decided that all of it is BS. What makes a NFL locker room some place so different from any other group of men whose work is hard, physical and who must function as a team. Do you ever hear of a Navy seal treating another the way Martin was treated? Do you ever hear of a Marine that would tear down a member of his own squad? These men know the value of real team work and how to build a band of brothers. They do have some fun at each other's expense. But to their core they respect each other and would literally put their life on the line to protect the team. Then I look at the example that is the Dolphins. To me the whole group comes across as a bunch of adolescents that are insecure, insensitive, spoiled and plain stupid. Thank God our real heroes set a better example of what true manhood and teamwork is. And before I get negged - I am aware that many of the militaries great teams have women on them and am aware that not all locker rooms are the same. Some locker rooms do get the true concept of respect and building a true team.
